So the 2nd phase of this plan is identifying a future QB...whether it be via draft or in FA down the road in 24' or 25' when a vet comes free in the annual QB FA derby that often occurs.
At the rate the Rams are going, it is looking more and more that they will have a high draft pick.

High enough to get Caleb or will they have to go with the Washington QB.

I just dont see how that makes any sense, I'd extend him before I traded him. Can save cap that way too.
He isnt great, but he's still a top 15 TE, and with the 2 draft busts behind him, Hopkins and Long and their combined 9 career catches in 5 seasons, there shouldnt be any confidence in them improving the situation
In concept, I agree with your point. But the dude can’t stay healthy. We seemingly have too many guys that can’t play a full season anymore. Not sure he’s a guy you extend and rely on with his lack of sustained health.

I’m on the NC Drake Maye train. Watched a few games of his last season and I think he’s going to be a hell of an NFL QB

He's only missed 4 games in the last 3 seasons. He gets dinged up a lot in games, but is out there every week.
I've always thought he'd be more effective in 12 formation, whether they bring a snot blocking TE and let him roam, or bring in the roamer and let him just put his hand in the dirt and get nasty

Really? It seems way more. Does that include playoffs? Maybe it’s a more recent thing.
Also, and I could be wrong, but he seems to get dinged up during games a lot and misses some drives. Again, maybe that was more last year or two.

I'm still 100% on board with trade AD. We're sure as hell not winning the SB in the next 2 years, and he's still got juice left. He's not putting us over the top.

Trade him to PIT or something, get a first and player.

I want him to retire a Ram but it's an absolute waste of a year for him.

We allowed almost 21 points per game. Our offense was worse but they were devastated by injury. Maybe they figure "almost 60 million a year for 3 defenders who allow 3 TDs per game is money not well spent. We could spend a lot less and not do much worse." Or maybe it's just the bill arriving.
Look you make sense yet if we subtract those players the players behind them are behind them for a reason so naturally they are worse and the draftees are highly doubtful to be very productive year 1. So the conclusion is we are worse off no matter how you cut it, but it will cost us way less and give us the opportunity to reload in 2024.

If the Rams do not own the #1 pick I highly doubt the #1 team is trading the pick UNLESS they are 100% set at QB. Usually the #1 pick is last in the NFL because they do not have a legit QB.

So maybe that's their plan? Worse off (in the beginning) by how much? 3 pts per game? More? Less? Improve the offense to the high 20's and you can win some games. Maybe more if the youngsters adapt.

Well there are 3 qbs next year that I think would be good.

And I can see the Rams having one of the top 3 picks next year.

Right now without a decent kicker they are going 3 and 14.

I will update my prognosis once I see how the draft goes and if Stafford heals from his injury.
