This is far from a remodel.

A friend showed me about 30 min of video on McKee, that broke down his play. I've also watched a few of his games. Personally, I think he's the best QB in this draft. The fact he doesn't run is what is dropping him. Stafford doesn't run either. Nonrunning QBs usually have a longer career. Does he have flaws? Absolutely, but nothing that can't be corrected with good coaching.

More importantly I see him as a fit for McVay's offense. Good accuracy at all levels with a strong accurate arm. Able to read defenses quickly, goes through his progressions quickly and smoothly. Excellent height at 6'6". Stanford's record had more to the lack of talent on the team not Mckee.

I am more concerned with the offense than the defense although we have concerns on both sides of the ball.
SMV needs a balance of personnel to run the offense effectively and we have now seen our offense perform less than impressively in at least stretches of more than one season.
Sean is certainly still growing but hasn't ventured far from his base personnel which usually sits above 80% per season

There is still more growing to do and I am confident Sean will apply his experiences and expand his abilities to respond and adapt to
the challenges of this upcoming season.
There isn't much doubt this is a gap and transition season. If we want to be competitive we will likely need to improve on one side of the ball being it isn't realistic to be better on both.
I believe we will try and right the offense, it is Sean's baby and it will take some time for it to come together.
Maybe we can outscore some teams.
Raheem will work with the youngsters and hopefully get them playing at a higher level. Next season we reassess and fill in with the
draft and FA

Whitworth was the first big signing when Mcvay arrived. In one offseason he did what Jeff fisher couldn't do in 5, fix the oline and offense.

.
Fisher inherited a bigger shitshow than McVay did.

Kupp was definately a diamond, in the dirt pile find.... I just don't see us hitting on say, 5 out of 7 picks that can contribute (like rotate in the first year) and be ready to start/fill in reliably the 2nd year. Could it happen?? Sure... Question is - will it happen?

We'll see....
No team does ever hit on most of their draft picks. They are lucky to hit on 2 really good starters in the draft. And most comes from the 1st round and we don't have a 2st round pick.

And here is the brunt of my concern

I am extremely concerned about Stafford's neck injury.

I think he may have to take a year off.
I think that's smoke and mirrors more than serious contusion.
It was a way to save him for the future.
If it's a legit spinal contusion, then I'm right there, he's way closer to retirement than a full season.

Fisher was hired to foresee the move to LA. He's been through it with Houston to Tennessee.
I actually was pretty happy with signing, thought he was a good coach.
He was actually a good head coach, just needed help with drafting and a competent OC that he didn't make too conservative.
But didn't let that happen.

Like I said - I will believe he is okay when I hear reports of him throwing again (and not just short tosses)

So far - nada

I agree

If he had given the majority of the control of the offense to a competent OC - he would have done well

But unfortunately he was too stubborn to give up the offensive side completely and that was why we were stuck with the worst OC in the history of the game - Rob Boras

I'm just flabbergasted that they went all in to try and get Brian Burns at the deadline and CmC and now nothing. Not sure what the hell is going on

Why clean up my throat headline when it is exactly the truth. Snead flat out lied to us he didn't need to come out and call his off-season goals a remodel... It is insulting to the posters, fan base etc to lie to them to this type of magnitude when they could come out be straight and say hey we had a great run but unfortunately we need to make massive changes.

But not to whitewash the elephant in the room is the Ramsey trade which I label as GM malfeasance on an epic level combine that with Snead lying to us and this organization has lost a lot of credibility in many eyes.
Telling the fan base that you're rebuilding is not something management ever does. We all know it's happening, they know WE know it's happening, but they will still play their games and admire the naked emperor's clothes because they're like a bit like politicians. Two years from now, Snead will admit it was a rebuild -- openly and laughingly, as he tends to do. But right now, he's going to play his little game of pretend, because he doesn't want to send negative signals to the players and fans.

And I agree that the Ramsey trade was horrible. If you're just going to give him away for next to nothing, then figure out a way to keep him. What bothers me much more than Snead's lying is his habit of paying through the nose to acquire players from other teams, and then dumping his own players for next to nothing. That's the one that drives me batty.
