Interesting discussion this morning NFL radio

I’m not an advocate of drafting RB’s high ever again. Just not the smart position to invest a 1st or a 2nd (assuming we ever have one of those things again, lol).

When looking at the evals of RB’s in the 4-6th round I doubt that there’s all that much difference in their respective ratings. We’re talking hair-splitting differences. So why not take advantage of the RB value in the later rounds but do so each year?

My way too early Rams mock

I'll preface this by saying, I am like most Ram fans who feel the biggest needs are CB and Edge. But with McSnead, you can never rule out offense with the first pick.

#104 Coby Bryant, CB
#142 Tariq Castro-Fields, CB
#175 D'Vonte Price, RB
#211 Christopher Allen, Edge
#212 Obinna Eze, T
#218 Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa, Edge
#238 Dane Belton, S
#251 Ellis Brooks, LB

Like I said, it wouldn't surprise me to see them go for a TE with either of the first two picks. If they do, I like Jelani Woods @ #104 or Charlie Kolar @#142
This is pretty damn reasonable.

I would be happy with this.

Great job brother.

5 younger Rams players who could take a leap forward in 2022

I see it two ways.
1) The Rams do make a trade for Hunter and go with what the have in the secondary.
2) The Rams get a guy like Gilmore and look to have their young guys make plays while Ramsey & Gilmore limit passing options.

Either is fine with me. I do think a Hunter signing puts AD in position to earn his 4th DPOY. IMO this is a quiet goal for AD, it’s on his mind. He would own the record and GOAT title alone.

Do They Really Need an Edge?

Maybe not.

Wide 9: Floyd
3T: Gaines
1T: Robinson
5T: Donald / Lewis

LBs Wagner, Jones, and Hollins.

They have played AD outside on many snaps in his career. He has the quickness and strength to play anywhere on the DL including edge. Gaines gets good penetration inside. Robinson isn't a pass rusher, but they won't go anywhere if it's a draw. Now add in the wildcard called Wagner. If the offense over commits anywhere on the DL, you give Wagner the option to blitz. With Robinson and Jones, Morris has the interior gaps covered should it be a run.

That is a formidable base front 7 to run or pass against. With AD outside it's going to be really tough to double him. Everyone on the front 4 is stout at the POA against the run. They have power and speed on the edges. The LBs are solid in coverage. This front 7 will allow Morris to really mix his coverages up on the back end. Hollins would be the rotational LB in the nickel.

They probably already have one of the best edges in the NFL in Donald. We have seen how good Gaines can be when they turn him loose. I'm not so sure anymore that they really need an edge. Lewis will allow Morris to continue to shift AD back inside, but what if they simply roll with Gaines, Robinson/Brown inside, and Floyd and Donald on the edges?

I think it's time for Lewis to be the player they expected when they drafted him. Lewis needs to do more than flash. He played 48% of the snaps and had 3 sacks, 7 pressures, and 4 hurries. But his role with Von playing ahead of him was more of a blitzing LB. It's time for Lewis to show he can be that every-down edge. But until he does AD is as good of an edge option as the Rams could want.
In a word….yes.

RIP Tommy Davis ...

RIP Tommy

62 to 66 I was way too young to follow baseball.

I wish I could have seen those years.

Some great Dodger baseball in those 5 years

62 would have been a killer though. Giants winning the pennant in a playoff would have just killed me.
I became a Dodger fan and a Giant hater at the age of 8 in 1962. I had seen my first game at the age of 4 in the nose bleed seats on the 3rd base side of the LA Colosseum in '58. Then at 5 years of age my dad who was doing graduate work at USC took me to an executives office on the ground level of the Colosseum where a man gave me an autographed 8.5 by 11 glossy black and white portrait of Duke Snider. He also took me outside and showed me field where they played.
We moved to northern California in 1961 and in 1962, I kept my allegiance to the Dodgers (dad became a Giants fan). I was watching game 3 of that play-off at my little Giant friends house when the Giants scored 4 in the top of the 9th to win 6 to 4. Needless to say I was crushed.
These 3 games were considered an extension of the regular season for records purposes. Tommy Davis drove in 153 runs that year and hit a home run in that third game. ( Maury Wills stole 4 bases in that series, increasing his total to 104 for the year).
RIP Tommy, I will never forget you. Here is an article on Tommy and the 1962 season. (230 hits, no LA Dodger has matched.)

This drafts looks stacked with some intriguing developmental LB prospects

Honestly think tight end is a huge need. While I like Blanton, and while Hopkins showed up in the Super Bowl, they're both very unproven, and Higbee is constantly hurt and a potential trade chip next year. It helps that this year is knee-deep with good tight ends.
I agree with drafting a TE but hope we resign Higbee on another reasonable long-term deal! The guy is an awesome all round TE

There were 3 players on the ‘21 Rams team that exceeded my expectations by a country mile…

Agree with everything 43 posted... as usual, but I think we are talking about the playoffs and not the regular season? If that is the case, I would also mention Cooper Kupp, who basically won all the playoff games by himself -lol. I'm not sure that qualifies as "by a country mile" but who would have thought that Kupp was going to carry that historic regular season right into the playoffs.

But I also have to give a shout-out to Kendall Blanton, who played great after Higbee went down, and even... wait for it... Brycen Hopkins... who actually had like 4 catches in the biggest NFL game (and ONLY NFL game) of his life! And he even had a nice block on that 4th and 1 run with Kupp. I know he basically just stood in the guy's way while Kupp cut back, but it worked. Hopefully that game will build up his confidence a bit.

And finally... Matthew Stafford was LIGHTS OUT in all four playoff games, especially in the clutch!

It's kinda hard to pick out just a few guys when almost the entire team played great. I guess that means we should also include Shawn McVay, who stuck to the run and ultimately led the team to the Super Bowl and won it!

PS - I also think Von and OBJ should be included in the OP. They didn't look that great in the regular season, but they sure turned it on when the playoffs started!

Can Rams Re-Sign OBJ???

That's what I've been saying. I know it's rose colored glasses and I know some teams wait til comp formula is up after the draft.

I do think tyrann though is almost 70/30 a ram

Others I don't know.gilmore has been heavenly pursued by the raiders and chiefs not caring about comp yet nothing. Slim chance just not sure anymore he fits scheme 35/65

Clowney has been offered multi year deal with browns. Nobody will give him more or they would have done so already. Had his best year in a while with 9 sacks yet nothing. Even after Cooper and Watson nothing. This one I say outside chance higher than Gilmore though 50/50

Sorry.. not buying any of this until i hear these tingling :laugh4:

Just re-watched the 1st Bucs game of last season…

There's a bunch of good full 2021 reg season Ram games on youtube. Rams vs Bears, Colts, Bucs, Jags, Vikings, Ravens, Seahawks. Was watching a few over the weekend.
Whoever was contracted to make changes to Game Pass finally figured out the Android snafu that kept me from replaying games during the season. So, I started watching the Rams season over again. I can’t get enough.

Are you getting enough sleep (7 myths and 7 truths)

Hmm, who am I to believe, the guy (who presumably isn't a neuroscientist or leading researcher) searching the internet for information to support a non-medical opinion because of his own personal situation, or this guy:

Currently, he is Professor of Neuroscience and Psychology at the University of California, Berkeley, USA. He is also the founder and director of the Center for Human Sleep Science.

Is DT A'Shawn Robinson a future chess piece for the Rams?

I could be wrong but, when we signed Robinson I think he had a rep as not being a self motivator at times.
Is that part of the reason for your statement in your previous post? I could be dead wrong with my old ass memory
Not sure but would not surprise me. I refer mainly to him playing the way he just did back in like 2018 or so. He had a really good year then put his feet up it seemed and I think that coincided with being paid but memory is shaky.

Either way I was very happy to eat that crow on him. Felt great to see him play like he did, the guy was a beast on that DL and if it continues we're gonna be tough.

Stafford Rookie Game on the NFL Network

So many things need to align for a QB to do his thing it's crazy. Right now Stafford must be on top of the world what with winning it all then getting gifted a player of Robinson's caliber. But I'll also observe that after watching Stafford do his thing how happy I am with a QB who controls safeties with his eyes and anticipates defensive pre-snap games.
Stafford had 17 4th quarter comebacks his first 7 years and the Lions were only 47-65. More than 1/3 of their wins were the result. He had 8 in 2016, when they finished 9-7!! That whole season was on Stafford. The next 4 years he only had 6 of them and they went 23-32-1.

On top of the world???? That guy has got to feel like he was pardoned from an undeserved execution. He only needed to bring the Rams back 3 times to win 12 games!! This is going to be fun to watch the next few years +. I think, as fans, we try not to get over our skis but it's pretty hard not to with the QB we have under center and the head coach designing for him.

Aaron Donald: I keep telling people, I get better with age

Sorry but as a DT Donald is in a class all by himself. Sapp was dominant but he was not Donald. I’d put Donald and LT as the 2 best NFL defensive players of all time.
Sapp was talking about the greatest defensive tackles of all time and he did say that AD was better than him. Those guys listed were first ballot HOFers in no particular order
