We lost our possible next GM to Jax w/o comp.
Snead is going to be around for a long time & if Gladstone wanted to come back to Los Angeles because of an opening nothing is in place to stop him from doing so.

Yeah - real true & he gets more experience. They had an inside track on him .Cohen is no dummy.
He is setting himself up right.

I wonder how much of an influence he has had in these last 2 years,or if it’s Les Sneads system that is in place.

Then of course, Sean Mcvay & his coaching staff does such an amazing job developing players.

Just worried a little bit.Of course though his value is worth a Comp Pick in theory of my mad mind.

I love this signing. I might be Alaric's biggest fan on these boards!

He is not a Hall of Fame player. We aren't getting another Whitworth, or a Trent Williams. But AJ rarely if ever gets beaten. I can count the number of times I remember him being beat clean and badly with a clean line to Stafford on one hand. Speed rush. Power rush. Stunts. Elite edge rushers opposite him. It does not matter. He finds a way to get the job done. He is good at pass protection and in the run game. He is still pretty young (26, but will be 27 by the time next season stats) and is a late bloomer that appears to still be ascending. I don't know if there are 10 LTs that I would take ahead of him. I think he is that good - a player that likely rounds out the top 10 at his position, or at worst, falls just outside of it.

LT is a hugely important position, that commands big money on the open market. With the cap set to go up, and AJ having been our starting LT for years now making literally peanuts by NFL standards, I am surprised he signed for this much money at this point in time. Great deal for the Rams. If we signed him after free agency, his value only goes up, lots of LTs are going to really get paid I think with teams having extra cap room.

Unlike when we gave Noteboom a ton of money, A. Jackson has a very good sample size and body of work. You can sadly never tell which players will mail it in once paid. As long as that doesn't happen, I think we have locked up a stud!

We've lost multiple possible successors and we keep bringing the next one along. As you say we'll be fine.

Really good we locked up Jackson at LT. Leveston is a player I think the team feels can step up this year. He was an older rookie last year when they drafted him and just a year younger than Jackson. 330+. Maybe a guy that can be the T/G backup you need on the roster.

He's small, no doubt.

He's not what he was last year in coverage but was the best corner we had, superior to Witherspoon who you ostensibly want to cut him for. Guy can still play as below:

He's not great in run support but not horrific and he's WILLING.

We have problems on this D other than DWill. We need to keep him and get a draft pick at the other corner spot (Jourdan intimated that Rams won't pay for one in FA (doesn't mean that they won't pay for a depth piece).

Also, I'm hoping for a slight increase in play next year as CB play is the highest variance play/position year to year (2023 he was a top 10 CB) and that hamstring injury probably was never fully healed all year.

I'd keep D Will but that wouldn't stop me from trying to improve that room in FA or the draft.

Williams wasn't bad last year but he wasn't good either. The problem with bringing up 2023 is that that was 2 years ago. CB is one of the positions very susceptible to age. It can drop off fast and Williams will be 32 in two weeks.
Absolutely. Wheels can fall off with age at CB for sure but variance year to year play is also the greatest of any position in NFL.

See Darius Slay for the Eagles two seasons ago vs last season.

That's why there's a competitive advantage in picking up a cut aging CB on a low contract, what may seem like the wheels falling off due to age may be the natural variance and teams can squeeze one or two more years of good play out of the guy.

We've got him for another year, hope he bounces back a little than move on.

I just like the fact that AJ has gotten a bit better every year. He's still young and if he keeps show that pattern of improving, we are going to look back on this contract as a steal.

Love the signing and love the story.

Developing a UDFA into a plus-starter at LT and then locking him up to a reasonable extension? Awesome. Looking forward to some stability on that line.

This is huge. Need to protect Stafford at all costs. Give the man a top OL and let him do his magic.

Getting excited about the draft too!!!

It doesn't matter who our QB was going to be. Without a solid LT, we weren't going to do much with the offense.

Day 1 when he came in at RG he showed a calmness to him.Noteboom could never figure out how to play guard. When he got hurt, Alaric never gave the LT spot up. He had a couple HickUps though.

We’ll see what he has meant to The Rams the last 2 years. IMO he has been that guy that helped with a lot of the picks.

Les Snead though kept Mcvay from not making a mistake & why The Rams got Jared Verse..

Alaric Jackson has been the type of player that makes Les Snead & Mcvay so great together.UDRFA’s

Look at The Rams 2025 roster & the UDRFA they had besides all there draft picks. They were The 2nd YOUNGEST team in The NFL!!

Alaric Jackson was The NUMBER 51 FA in The 2025 pool.
According to whom? Not saying you’re not correct but I’ve seen where he was the top FA tackle if he hit FA. It would seem that would put him higher on the list being how difficult it is to find a good LT.
