Rams have a top 10 defense and a bottom 5 offense.
Rams fans- Let's have a 2k vent thread about the defense.
Sounds about right.

And if we play aggressive defense in the 4th qtr like we were doing in the first 3 quarters, we probably easily win the game as well

It goes both ways.

Offense sucks - Morris scheme in the 4th qtr sucked
To those of that think we're ignoring the offense...we're not. This isn't mutually exclusive...the D, unfortunate as it was to have to, was in position to close out the game for the second time in less than two minutes and failed. Miserably.

Issues on both sides of the ball have this team where it is, but yesterday the Defense failed when the game was being decided.

They didnt change the scheme, that's just not true. Heck, just read thru the GDT, you'll see complaining about it all game. Even while it was working.
That's not true.

There were many times where they had 1 CB play press and the other CB play off.

As I stated in another post, Ramsey played press on Evans on 3rd and 6 and Brady had to throw it away

In the 4th quarter, Ramsey was 10 yards off Evans on a 3rd and 6 and easily made a first down.

That's exactly what I am trying to say.

Defense was playing well enough to win and then they go to a shitty soft zone defense in the 4th quarter and we lose

I thought you were talking about my post on the Dallas game where we started inside the 25 9 out of 11 drives
I dont need to re-hash that mess of a game. Yesterday is bad enough. 2 plays by Kupp accounted for 50% of the total team yardage, and 75% of the points for the day. Absolutely nothing the rest of the game. Awful

False. The D did their job in turning over the Bucs on downs, that should have closed out the game. The offense did nothing to help out. The offense could have closed the game out, would have closed the game out by making 1 single 1st down in 3 series.
1 1st down, instead, its the D's fault
The D should have never had to defend the goal line in 2 separate drives, 50 seconds apart

Because the offense had already failed miserably. All game long.

Not one person is disagreeing with you on how bad the offense is - specifically one player especially.

We are just stating that we had a lead with 40 seconds left where 5 out of 450 times the team with a lead wins and Morris gave that game away specifically on that series. The first 3 quarters he called a good game. The 4th qtr he had everyone playing 10 yards back on EVERY play. That is the issue I had with Morris. Why did he change? No one has answered that question.

And don't say they were gassed so they had to play back. That is not an acceptable answer when the TOP up to that point was fairly even.

Coulda, woulda, shoulda...as irritating as it is, they had to. And they rolled out with their 10 yd cushions and then proceeded to not only give up a huge chunk down the middle but also let receivers get out of bounds easily on catches to save clock.

That last possession was like watching the last 1:41 of SB 36. Straight down the field like they were going against the scout team. As much as we could have used 7 more points, we didn't have them and the defense could have closed it out again, as unfair as it was to ask them to do it again.

They did fail on that drive.

And the defense isn’t the reason they lost the game.

And they STILL were about to win at 14:12 gone in the 4Q. Teams in the Bucs situation have historically had a one-percent chance to win. And Morris' defense gave it to them.

Up to that point while the offense hadn't been good at all it was STILL good enough to win if the D gets one last stop.

Lol… any argument that includes “the offense was good enough to win” is absurd.
Score 13 points in the NFL.. win 27% of the time.
Give up 16, win 55% of the time.

It’s a team game… and the part that completely failed is the offense.
They didn’t even need to score more than 13.. they had to get one first down.

It was one of the worst performances from the Rams offense in years.

We all would’ve loved of the D could’ve won the game.. but they didn’t. And they didn’t lose the game.

Maybe this will clarify… if I was on D and someone on offense said… “you’ve got to make that stop”… I would tell them, in no uncertain terms.. to go fuck themselves.

Except for all the futility to that point, with under sixty seconds left in the game and the Bucs taking over at their 40 yard line...the Rams had scored enough points to get the win if the defense holds.

Is an average of 13pts/game enough to win in the NFL? Of course not. On a given Sunday though it might be. And to that point, as lame as it is to type it, it was.

As you already know, I beg to differ. They took the field with the lead and less than a minute to go and let TB move the ball at will for the winning score.

What else am I supposed to think that is?

It was only close because the defense had played such a good game. Not because the offense did its job.

And if you’re so focused on end of game failure.. why aren’t you focused on the offense and it’s inability to get a single first down the entire 4th Q?

And nobody who has watched this team play would argue the sentiment. But on a day when the offense had scored enough to take a lead into the final minute...

The offense is garbage. We all understand that. But the game was close, the O had done enough to give a lead.

And that was pissed away with shitty play calling at the end.

There’s no “but”…. It’s a team game or it’s not.

You’re confusing “you gotta go out and win it” with “they lost the game.”

Different things. The responsibility for the loss falls on those who failed most.

That’s the offense.
