I can't speak to the other 2, but to my eye Lampkin is a "boom or bust" type guy. He's only 5'11" (at most) and 280 pounds. That lack of size is unheard of. There isn't a single OL in the entire NFL who is that short. Not even close.

(Lampkin might be saved by his freakishly long spider-monkey arms, however).

So to me, his preseason tape will tell the tale. If he is even mediocre, then his size limitations mean he's a bust. But if his play resembles the stud we saw in college and at the Senior Bowl, then other teams will want him, too.

But yeah-- I agree in general with your observation that all other 31 teams passed on him multiple times. He's an outlier for sure.

F*ck lack of size ~ Aaron Donald

I would bet money there's no chance of him going in the shitter PERIOD.

The guy continually rises to the occasion to outperform expectations.
What a great and fun underdog story.
I'm fully on the Lampkin hype train of course, but... only caution I'd express is to see if he gets a chance to go against the Chargers second stringers. Against the Cowboys, I think it was third and fourth stringers. Yes he pancaked some guys, but maybe they were against guys who will never be in the NFL.

Hope he gets some reps in the first half of the next preseason game.

Of you watch LaFleur's press conference, he was asked about Dedich and later was asked about Lampkin. He really praised Dedich. Pointed out his smarts and versatility and how lucky they were to have him. His praise for Lampkin seemed more subtle and performative. Makes me think Lampkin has a lot more work to do to make the team.

Exactly - I don’t think I can watch the Rams today just to get a better idea of how the team looks & because I also have the time.

I’ll funny but KT looks a lot like AJ coming up & Wyatt is solid.

FUNNY- At Merlin only looks at the negative. My negative is lossing these 2 more than Lampkins.

SO - imo those 3 all get cut as well. The hope is making it till 2026 with them to make the 53.

Les Snead & The Rams scouts do amazing work. The Rams OL coaching staff is Top Notch

It's a tall order to carry 3 much less 4 C on a team
I like the kid as much as the next guy but the reality is that there are only so many roster spots
And I dont want to stir up any old debates, Trust in McVay and all that, but if the Rams cant keep this kid because of Coleman Shelton I just dont get it

Yeah impossible to carry that many centers but we are fortunate that Limmer & Dedich can play guard. Still would be tuff keeping 10 Oline.

... or LeFleur is praising Dedich to make him seem more attractive to other teams while deliberately downplaying Lampkin who they really want to retain more. Isn't this a common McSnead tactic?

I don't think coaches play those games. There all grown ups. They know there is tape outthere for all teams to review. If a guy is playing well he will be noticed.

I've seen Snead and McVay be pretty transparent. I've often felt that they disclose more than they should.

Yeah, Lampkin's a great story but we'll see, he's most likely a PS guy and even then, may end up getting beat out if he's such an outlier that he won't be good on scout team as practicing against him won't simulate anything.

Dedich - while undersized himself - seems to have shown position versatility at center and guard and already shown he can fill in in a pinch. Good depth guy for sure and a lock baring injury.

Lampkin has turned Limmer into first Guard off the bench, who can serve as third Center on the depth chart.

I don't think there's enough recognition in this take for how well he played. You don't play that well for a team then get cut.

To be cut he'd need to have a terrible outing in the next one. And I doubt that's going to happen.

A blocking TE (extra OL basically) would make more sense to me than a FB.
I'm thinking more like a game day active guard/center with a few fullback/special team plays thrown in.
(When the Rams feel like he is ready).
Maybe he could be our Long snapper.
Okay maybe I'm getting a little carried away here. :)

I heard that the other coaches are only allowed to look at college tape.
(Just kidding there :) )
And there's like 15 stories about Lampkin out there at the moment so I don't think he's under the radar

All of these teams are professional with college and pro personnel departments. None of these players are under the radar. IMO, teams don't need the media to talk about a player to know about a player.

We have seen Dedich play.....meh. Lampkin seems to be a pissed off human bowling ball with long arms who takes great joy in violently shoving large human being on their backs.
Myself, losing Dedich is not some huge deal. Lampkin might be something special. These next will tell us all a lot. I want to see what he does against NFL ones and two's. I bet he throws some of them on their backs also.
I am rooting for Lampkin.
