Does anyone else get the feeling that Jimmy G's performance against the Seahawks has a little something to do with how the Rams are approaching the current Stafford situation? Don't get me wrong-- I love having Stafford on this team... but I'm not obtuse to the fact that Jimmy G came in and operated McVays offense really, really well. He did so during the time when Stafford was struggling to hit 200 yards passing. Just something to think of.

I also wonder if the FO is more interested in downsizing the QB cap allotment in order to keep Alaric Jackson, Bobby Brown, etc, as well as going after some prime FAs.

How about if we combined all the Goff threads?
All those threads and the jury is still out whether he's a great QB or not. During the regular season he was putting that argument to rest and then the post season happened. BTW I'm a huge fan of his and wish him nothing but the best besides when he plays us

Wrong. Stafford has nothing to do with it.
It’s really simple, and I don’t know why folks need to make more out of it.
There are only a handful of teams who would trade for a 37 year old QB and pay him top $$. That team would feel he would put them over the top.
It’s that simple. You aren’t building a team around a guy with only 2 years left.
He is talking to teams now. That means he has something to do with it.

Now chances are those teams are the same ones you're alluding to. And we'll see what the value ends up being in trade.

The thought of the Rams going from a Super Bowl contender to a likely non-playoff team AIN'T entertaining!!!
:laugh1::laugh2:It most definitely is, doesn't mean its in a good way either tho. Honestly we are all talking hypotheticals big time as nothing has happened at all. The freak out will happen once everything is decided. No this isn't the same as a Diddy Freak Off now, don't get any ideas Loyal!

He isn’t talking to teams. His agent is allowed to gauge the trade/contract value teams may offer.
I imagine they start with the teams who allegedly expressed interest?
Probably the same list we’ve discussed, teams who could afford it $$ wise and think he could help them win. Giants, Raiders, Titans, Steelers etc

Yes and if one of those teams offers him a contract he likes, and is a situation where he and the coach are excited to work together, then I'd imagine the offer will follow.

But it is unlikely an offer would fly in from a team he has not talked to. Now if that were to happen then the Rams may pull the trigger whether Stafford likes it or not. I just don't think that's likely to happen at his age.

Yeah, it's just gonna hit and stun us just like the Stafford/Goff trade did. I remember my son and I, along with his girlfriend and my wife, were at my house watching an on-demand movie, and my son just yelled out, "Holy shit they just traded for Stafford!!" I don't think we finished the movie at that point.

The same thing will happen this time if he is moved...less of a reaction if the re-sign him.

Yup, we are going to get people that will swear off the Rams, some that will drink, some that will venture off to the boob thread to cope, it'll be all over the place if Stafford is traded. I just hope no matter what we have a good plan going forward. With McVay at the helm, I think we'll ultimately be ok. Change is evitable and there's a lot of people that hate change. Now about those helmets...:laugh1:

Dude, there is no offer. The agent is allowed to see what value is out there. And what do you think the agent is going to look for? The highest money. The goal is for the Rams and Stafford to have an understanding of his value in the market and see if they can come to an understanding
It’s advantageous for both sides to make it work in LA. But if it can’t? The Rams will look for the best deal they can get

Looks like the Rams are just not that serious about winning anymore. Letting Stafford go is a fucking catastrophe and you bastids are all excited about a next to worthless #3 over all pick that won't do shyte about getting a franchise QB. Wake me up in 20 years when we're competitive again...

Are you not concerned for the next season and the one after that? That is what I have in my mind. Look at what he is doing every offseason; retire or a raise. I'd take a down year to be competitive for the next 7-10 and have ammo to reload.

But, for those like myself that have been a Rams fan for a long time and remember the unwatchableness of them at times, I sure don't want to see that.

Even with a bridge QB next season, we will be competitive.
