If they are basing this in his wife running her mouth, that is pretty stupid. The only way thing we don't truly know is how Stafford truly feels about all of this because he's going to give PC answers no matter what.
I'm assuming that some of the stuff his wife is saying is how he feels about all of this. When she said I prioritize being wanted over convenience, I got the distinct feeling that she really meant we - Stafford and her - feel this way.

When she said hint hint, Stafford wants to win and not put a team in a bad situation, she's implying that he may be willing to take less money. It feels for sure that there is at least a little bit of a spokesperson situation going on here.

Morning?

It's 5pm here, and I've just finished work. I'm off to the pub and will try reading SoRam's posts after a few pints, to see if they make more sense when I am semi-inebriated.

You're going to need more than a few pints.

Honestly, at this point, if we don’t get Stafford back, I don’t see how we’re serious about winning a SB in the next few years.

I personally feel we’ve got a 1-2 year window WITH Stafford. Maybe they don’t think that’s the case. It’s hard to say.

Either way, this shit is frustrating and annoying.

I can see that and even said earlier in another post that we have to assume some of what she is saying Stafford agrees with. Thing is, we'll obviously never hear Stafford say it except give PC answers to everything in the media. I think she's also countering McVay's we need to know sooner and later with their own. Gonna be an interesting negotiations going down.

You don't push out the HOF QB because of his wife. Just ask Mike Martz...

Stafford already laid to rest the issue of whether he's playing. He already countered McVay when he informed the Rams that he's playing next year.

Kelly Stafford said something else interesting. It's all up to the Rams. THEY are the ones trying to decide how they want to move forward.

What we know:

Stafford said he will play next year
Kelly is hinting that he will give the team a discount on the contract
Kelly is hinting that there are trade whispers
Kelly explicitly says that the Rams are in control

Add it up, I don't know that this is about negotiations with Stafford at all; it seems more that it's the Rams trying to decide if moving forward with him is part of their plan.

I wouldn't say just that. She chimed in on Kupp being traded as confusing and she doesn't get it as we were so close to advancing to the Superbowl. It would be safe to assume that Stafford most likely agrees with her. She also mentioned that her husband wants to be valued and win but not cripple a team financially. My take, this sounds like it may go shitty for us and seems to point at the Rams actually considering a total reset at the QB position.
This is exactly what happened last year though with stafford - he didn't think he was getting paid enough so they adjusted things.

Problem is after dak and some other contracts his number is looking a lot smaller - so here we are again.

Saquon Barkley wasn’t under contract for 2 more years like Stafford is. It’s not even close to the same thing
Not the exact same thing... agreed.

But there are some pretty strong similarites.

Perhaps the best and most popular player on the team - and possibly moving off of him for a money number thats not that huge.

Hate to say it, but money is always a factor. The reason the Rams are weighing it is because Stafford's price tag is going to be high and deservedly so. Rams are weighing if its worth it to do so and use whatever is left to do their best to build the team around that or they are thinking of the savings they'll get if they go with a cheaper vet option and as a result can be more active in FA or saving those cap dollars for our young stars future contracts.

Yeah it's extremely annoying and maybe Stafford's wife is like we don't want to put a team in a bad financial situation when the Rams may have already told Stafford they aren't going past a certain number. I'm guessing Stafford wants to get paid since this is his last contract. Tricky situation for us unfortunately.

this doesn't sound good... Stafford wants to win, but he also wants to be "valued"??

What's with Matthews wife laying down next to another dude and calling the show the Morning after? lol. Does she also have breast feeding pads over her boobs in a white see through tee? LOL wtf.

I take nothing she says seriously, she loves to speak to hyperbole and "hearing" stories about trading Stafford. She's reading the same stories we are and she's putting credence into it, which is fucking ridiculous. Does he not talk to her, he's married to her for Christ sake. Probably not, I wouldn't.

Seems much ado about very little. This will get worked out and we’ll be into some other issue soon enough.

But in the unlikely event we move off of Stafford and reset with a younger QB - I fully trust the FO. So I’m good & chill no matter what happens.

They will just pay JimmyG if this becomes a problem.

Cousins looked good to start the season. Then started to show his age. Grabmypole looked good for 1 game. He is very limited and brittle and definately not as tough as Stafford. He is a good back up. That is it.
He gets the ball out of his hand very quickly. Sometimes that gets him in trouble but it can help the Oline. It can also help with YAC. Jimmy G makes quick reads and is decisive. But his arm isn’t great.

I wonder if McVay watched him against Seattle and thought maybe he could get by with that if it allows for saving money and more offensive upgrades.
