Not the exact same thing... agreed.

But there are some pretty strong similarites.

Perhaps the best and most popular player on the team - and possibly moving off of him for a money number thats not that huge.
Not even close.
For one, the Giants made the right decision in not paying him. They have so many holes, namely o-line, so what good is paying him 15 mill when they may win an extra game?
It sucked for Giants fans to see him thrive for their rival but he would have never put up those numbers in NY.
Stafford on the other can force a trade and find himself in Cleveland watching his legacy fly out the window

I keep wondering what McVay is thinking.

Did he just watch a fast defensive rebuild and think that he can do the same thing with the offense and get himself a longer run at contending? If so that’s a bit overconfident imo. Things had to fall just right for the defensive rebuild to occur. Had they traded for Bowers they wouldn’t have Verse or Fiske. Had they traded for Murphy the defense wouldn’t have been as good. I hope they aren’t fooling themselves into thinking that this drafting thing is easy.

You are literally the only person I've encountered this year that would even suggest the giants made the right decision.

He only wanted like 1 or 2 more million.. it was nothing.

He was by far the best player on their team and not only that he went to a division rival and they are in the super bowl!

The owner is on video saying it would be devastating if he went to a division rival and had success.

Same. The quick rebuild of the D side of things after losing the GOAT Donald. It makes me wonder if that rebuild process rejuvenated/excited McVay and he desires doing something similar on offensive side. Maybe even the same with how they started with BY/etc for ADs last year and then got fiske/Verse. So this year get some young dudes in draft and next year go with a new QB (either developed 2025 draftee or new 2026 draftee…or even via 2026 trade).

This is quite literally one of the worst years to need to find a QB via draft or FA. It just makes absolutely NO sense to move Stafford.

Absolutely NONE.

I think McVay is already looking past Stafford and envisioning what that offense would look like. Expecting him to eventually get back to more TE usage, with more deep shots.

I love Stafford but wouldn't be heartbroken if the Rams moved on.

I don't think McVays next QB will be a first round type. He will scour the earth and find what he wants.

I hope you're ok SoRam. I really do. But you are at the top of your WTF game this morning.
Yeah - better than ok. Wish I could say I was smoking some gonja or something like that.

WAWTIA - The Stars have aligned, just another full circle.
You can already see my craziness, but when one gets Older- the book gets bigger & other chapters revise themselves.

Been a Rams Fan for a long time.I’d say in some sense a Historian of LA Sports. Not a jersey guy,but maybe reflecting back New Jersey had some stories of time.I mean really, doesn’t Giants & Jets play there.
Funny, but never been to the New New York Stadiums.Might be on The Bucket List(higher up)! Thanks

Talk about OXYMORON- who needs cotton ? METLIFE - really ? lol.

All good joking aside. Should have an excellent SuperBowl Weekend!!
Go Philly - shoulda-coulda been The Rams.

Starting to think that if Dart is on the board at 26 the Rams may take him. He's an ideal depth QB to learn behind Stafford. Let him soak up how a pro does his thing.

If not then round 3 could definitely happen. For that reason I have all the QBs on my list to make sure I watch at least some tape on them.

Think we got a shot at Dart in round 3 so no worries!

That’s nonsense.
Of course people say that now. Saquon on the Giants this year makes no difference.
These same “experts” that may chastise the Giants now are the same idiots who would have criticized them to no end had they paid him only to see him have another average season
Monday morning quarterbacking is just a bad look.

They will just pay JimmyG if this becomes a problem.
I don't see him as an option. Dude throws a great screen pass, and is wired to run that underneath WCO approach. But I think McVay still prefers down the field potency to stretch the defense and open up said underneath. He said he "doesn't want to live that way" (paraphrasing) post-Goff. I doubt that has changed.

I don't. QBs always go earlier than their evaluation warrants. The guys who should be round 3 have teams looking at them round 2. The round 2 guys have teams in the 20s looking at them, if not earlier. And the mid first types end up going at the top.

Dart operated in a shitty offense but he was quite good under pressure. He is QB3 for this class at worst. So basic supply and demand will do its thing.

Yep. I had this thought when I woke up this morning...but one step further.

What if the Rams are thinking of trading Stafford to say Pittsburgh for 21 and taking Dart then? Sign a bridge QB like Fields, Garappolo, Wilson, etc. to compete for a year.

He gets the ball out of his hand very quickly. Sometimes that gets him in trouble but it can help the Oline. It can also help with YAC. Jimmy G makes quick reads and is decisive. But his arm isn’t great.

I wonder if McVay watched him against Seattle and thought maybe he could get by with that if it allows for saving money and more offensive upgrades.
I hope not. It would mean to me the SB is not the goal. The budget is. It would also put us right back to where we were in 2020. Looking for a QB that could take a SB ready team all the way. Seems more like shooting ourselves in the foot.
The Rams have always paid the going rate for quality. Some would say over paid. Anything is possible, but not making it work with Stafford would really say a lot.

If they do that, I'd rather load up the team vs taking a QB too high. I'd say take the most blue chip players available then sign a vet QB.

Certainly possible but there is no telling where Dart will slot. Snead's good at stacking that board, but when it comes to QBs good sense goes out the window.

I mean look at teams like the Raiders, Jets, Saints, Seahawks, Steelers, all picking before us. Any one of them, and maybe some of the others, may look at Dart and think what we are thinking.

I love Stafford and expect he’s back but I have to say I’d have to think awful hard of Pittsburgh offered a 1st for him
