The time value of money principle still applies.

Just like if one man loans another $100k to be paid in 3 years at 10% interest. When he's paid in 3 years, he gets $133,100.

You can say they traded $100k in present money for $130k in future money. Like on our Atlanta trade, we traded lower present value for greater future value.

Working the principle backwards, if Leveston is worth a 7th in 2 years future money, he's worth a lot less in present value.
I get it but still disagree somewhat.

Maybe that means you have the mindset of a lender...since your focus is on the future higher value? You're willing to wait the years to get paid the higher value down the road. Whereas, most people have a short-term outlook. :fistbump1:

I actually like Leveston and I think he could be better than McClendon in the long run, however the numbers were stacked against him. McClendon seems to be really liked by the coaching staff so I figured he was safe and at this point I actually prefer Humphrey and Quessenberry (who might also get cut) as tackle depth over KT for a super bowl run.

I get wanting to keep Levston for the future but he does not have ideal height/length to be a long term answer at tackle and I expect the Rams to restock at tackle next off-season thought the draft.

Note: I'm a fan of Dedich because is an underdog and because he provides a lot of versatility to the interior.
Sure sounds like McClendon took a step from last year, albeit, a small step.

I think one of the issues with Leveston was lack of positional flexibility. It was always reported he could play multiple positions, but the Rams were only playing him at LT. He didn't get one snap this preseason at RT or the interior.

Contrast that with Arcuri who they played at LT, RT, and LG over the 3 preseason games.

They must be hanging onto those plays he made in early 2021. But since then I have been mostly unimpressed. I'd rather have any young headhunter who isn't familiar with the system than him.
Totally agree. Reeder is literally the true definition of a JAG and not even a good one. The infatuation with this guy is really puzzling.

I’m guessing they like Reeder like they like Coleman Shelton—it’s more about the mental stuff and leadership that isn’t readily apparent just from watching the games.
Yup we all mentally love it when Reeder tackles or whiffs on a ball carrier 5 yards past the line of scrimmage...... woohooo

Could be.
He was ranked out as a mid round pick and I would assume plenty of teams had a draft able grade on him.
Picking him up this way a zero risk pickup.
Which gives him an immediate spot on a team's 53 man. That's a pretty tall ask as all teams are having these types of "problems" right now. Not saying it cant happen, just is a tall ask for a team to choose a released rookie over player on their 53

It comes down to who would you prefer to start and make the calls or play STs, if a game was played tomorrow and you had to choose between Reeder & Paul?

If the Rams were not true contenders this year, they keep Paul and cut Reeder. However, they are going into the season with the idea that keep the guy who can best contribute right now.

Same thing with keeping both Humphries and Quessonberry over a guy like Leveston. If they were not contending, maybe they let one of the vets walk.

I get the reasoning if we were talking starters but Reeder isn't even a starter. Also think your example for the tackles are more appropriate since thats a way more important position. Rams need to just rip the band aid and let Reeder go. We would not skip a beat if he were gone. This same argument was made about Speights last year and look how that turned out. We need an infusion of some more young blood there. I get there are growing pains but Reeder causes pains of his own hahaha

Not disagreeing with you, but apparently they look at it as if injuries hit and one guy has to start, at least for this year they are going for experience.

Nah no worries, I get that we are simply discussing it. I get that we all have to try to look at it from different angles, but I think ur post about McVay's interview is probably what really happened hahaha
