If he plays outside, it’ll take away snaps from either Ahkello Witherspoon or Darious Williams.

I would think it would actually take more snaps from Durant. Wasn’t he being used almost exclusively on the outside toward the end of the season?

Crazy thing is that if they cant move him, they might opt for the Myles Garrett method. Throw some more money at him to make him realize "he didnt really want to leave, he just wants to play for a team committed to paying him to winning"

Option 1- Trade him- costs the cap 29 mill over 2 years + whatever additional salary they have to eat, say 10-12 mill. 39-41 mill of dead cap over 2 years and not have the player
Option 2- Cutting him, costs 49 mill of cap space over 2 years and not have the player

So while it sounds crazy, why not throw him a bone?
Give him another 5-7 mill guaranteed, he agrees, they're all happy in Dolphinland and Ramsey plays his ass off knowing he's basically playing for his next contract
Costs the '25 Cap 23-27 mill after escalators
Go in to '26 when he could be cut for 18 mill of dead cap
So they get a potential All-Pro year of play from him and he costs 42-45 mill over 2 years which is less than a cut and potentially the same as a trade

Just to build on Dieter's comment above.

The Dolphins have a $16.7M cap hit for Ramsey in 2025.

Per OTC, if Miami cuts him (before OR after June 1st) ... OR, if Miami trades him before June 1st ... the Dolphins' 2025 cap hit for Ramsey will Greatly INCREASE.

Only a POST-June 1st trade would offer Miami some cap relief.

I don't know that the Rams got any cap relief by Seattle signing Kupp.

Kupp was just an unrestricted free agent when he signed with Seattle. No cap implications to the Rams. Believe that was the case.

Kupp will be on the Rams' 2025 cap for $22.3M ... per both OTC and Spotrac

Contracts will often have offset language in the contracts that if a player is cut they can redeem a certain amount of the dead cap based on what the player signs for with the new team.

I believe this covers what I was talking about. I can't find it now but somewhere, someone posted an article that said Seattle had to pay part of his salary that went against our cap. I remember that the post was that it was surprising and new information at the time. Maybe the info itself was wrong and I can't find it now.

Apparently, the $12million signing bonus Seattle paid Kupp somehow offset some of what the Rams were due to pay Kupp. I'm still trying to see how or if that affected our cap or if it was just money in the organization's pockets.

This is all I can find. I think I had seen where the cap hit would have been around $25-26 mil and this took it down to 22?

Pastoors confirmed that the $12 million signing bonus that came with Kupp's contract he signed with the Seahawks offset the Rams owing him that in 2025. However, by being released, the remaining money owed to him on his contract prorates to 2025, which means the Rams will, in total, occur a dead money charge of around $22 million this year.
Kupp will be off the salary books next year.

Ramsey has been durable in his career, his physicality is still there. I don’t want no part of that contract though.
