I still think he’d be the Rams best corner. If Lake stayed at the Star position Ramsey can just focus on playing outside corner or better yet slot.

I guess the biggest reason I like the idea is I keep picturing him tackling Barkley and maybe terrorizing tight ends. Those were weak areas for the Rams. I keep having nightmares of freakin Jonny Smith running free behind the D-line and Barkley breaking long runs.

I also think Ramsey brings a bit of attitude to the DB group that meshes with what Verse does up front.
If they don't have to give up much draft capital, I am all for it.

A year or two of Ramsey playing close to the LOS could ease the transition of guys like Dolac and Paul too.
Full agreement here. He's clearly not the dominant player he once was but on the Rams I see him making a huge difference.

Question though on positions. What's the difference between star and slot? I thought Lake was handling slot duties most of the time?

The greater amount of Ramsey’s contract the Rams take on the lesser the draft capitol the Dolphins will receive.

I thought that was Durant. I always thought the Star was a hybrid position. Sort of like Linebacker/safety. With Shula’s defense it was harder to tell. Sometimes Lake would be on the field and Curl would be playing a SS role on run downs. Then other times they’d have two inside linebackers with Lake still on the field. So, maybe they don’t play a set slot corner roll.

I do recall Troy Hill used to play the Star and we busted on him for screwing up. I think it’s a tough assignment and Lake is a more cerebral player and has handled it better than Ramsey and Hill.

IMO Durant is better on the outside then in the slot the 2 starters should be Witherspoon and Durant even Shula said that he was better on the outside that’s y they took him off star
