We got our Super Bowl last year and we should still cherish it.

Since we wouldn't do anything even if we somehow managed to scrape into the playoffs in any event; it would be better to have a worse record and be drafting from better positions in each round (no first round pick next year, of course) and finally bring in higher quality young talent, something noticeably lacking on the Rams, with a few exceptions.

We have to go all the way back to Gurley to see the importance of having a talented first round player.

This organization has whiffed on a lot of second round picks dating back to the Fisher and Linehan eras (sorry to bring back the painful memories of those esteemed coaches)

We'll be losing some starters to free agency at the end of the season and getting some future comp picks in return.

We're going to have to do better job of assessing our talent and and start giving some game reps to younger players, particularly in positions where our starters aren't getting it done, as we have to know what we have and whether to go outside for replacements.

This year has been the worst of both worlds - we're losing and at the same time only Oline backups have seen meaningful game time.

We clearly have positions in need of upgrading and we must have better internal technical development in the areas of blocking, tackling, defensive pass coverage technique, etc.

We could use new Offensive and Defensive Coordinators, as our game planning and play calling are not areas of strength.

Defensively, I am not a fan of our defence and the Cards game again exposed the fact that we're just not that good on D.

We just can't make stops when needed and we get burned by mediocre QB's, with our passive scheme and combined with a scarcity of impactful playmakers.

It's better to take our lumps now to improve for the future.

The bully came to the beach, beat us up and stole our girlfriend this year.

Let's just pump ourselves up, hit the weights and return to the beach to exact our revenge on the bully next year.

Lol.
Dominate?
Two scores were on short fields.
The defense wasn’t good today, no need to oversell it.
It seemed like just about everytime they got the ball they kept it for a week.

In his own words he almost retired this off season. I'm not sure he'd take the trade, or that the Rams can fit his dead money he'd go from a $26 million cap hit next year with a trade to $41 million. I think he sticks it out and retires. If this year is bad enough maybe he retires after this year.
The only team he would likely accept a trade to would be Pittsburgh

You can't win if you can't win the field position game.

We couldn't sustain a drive.

The offensive line is really bad.

Wolford looked pretty much like Stafford has looked this year.
Pretty much running for his life from the snap of the ball.

One of the biggest issues this offseason is there is just no money AND no flexibility with the CAP. They're pretty fucked. Very few places to squeeze anything.

Best hope for '23? Health.. a shit-ton of improvement from young players.. and a fucking incredible draft.
This season needs to become an 8 game preseason. Let's see what the young kids can do and raid some practice squads to find some raw talent that need some playing time to develop.

They need to find a lot of cheap talent that can contribute next year.

Sure....Once again I will state the offense is a shitshow.

However, the defense is relatively healthy so they need to step up and give this offense a short field. They need to maybe score a TD or set one up. When was the last time that happened?

Instead the opposing offense takes the ball to at least midfield, where they can then pin our offense deep or they go on a 10-12 play drive and get points.

That doesn't help a struggling offense in anyway and in fact makes it tougher for them to get anything going.

And again, yes, the offense sucks right now.

This isn't an offense vs defense comment. It's a defense should be better equipped to help a struggling offense instead of putting them into a bigger hole each drive.

It'll be a QB so no be won't lol
Yeah, the Rams are going to screw him. 2 picks in the top 10 gives them a great opportunity to get a QB or trade up to get the guy they need if a team like the Jags is ahead of them and plan on keeping their QB.

Feels like a waste to have Stafford, Kupp, AD, or Ramsey to take another snap this year. Why add any more miles to their tires? Also feels borderline dangerous with Stafford. We really gonna trot him out there with this line and no Kupp? It’s just asking for a serious injury. I want them all healthy so we can hit the ground running in the offseason.
Unfortunately, the game is much bigger than us rare single-team fanatics.

Business, Marketing, and optics make this a non starter

Kyren Williams looked decent in garbage time.

And maybe Kupp's injury won't be terrible.

That's all I got for now...

Thankful I missed this shitshow of a game due to driving back from son's soccer game in San Antonio.

Thankful that people are waking up to the fact that John Wolford is not a good QB. The "Wolford is not good" signal got lost in all the anti-Goff noise a few years back, at least now people can see that. And I'm glad I never bought into that.

And man, so thankful we won the Super Bowl last year. This season sucks for sure, but it would have sucked a lot worse if we had gotten close but not won it. We don't have to worry about that.

For me, never. I loathe seeing a great player in other colors, especially if they win a Super Bowl. Totally un-fucking-acceptable, inmho.
He would just retire unless it was Pittsburgh at which point they would be bidding against themselves and the thought is even gut wrenching unless he would request a trade that would obviously change a lot.

I thought I’d see McVay be creative this week with nothing to lose. What I saw was guys going through the motions with no sense of urgency. Terrible effort all around starting at the top. There is something off with McVay. Maybe he’s thinking he should’ve retired. At least he got paid. Embarrassing effort for a defending super bowl champion , and the oline can’t take all the blame for this meltdown. I haven’t been this disappointed since Martz dismantled the GSOT.

Nice post. I think McVay doesn't want to get out a losing note.

This is also on Snead going forward. Draft assets are low for 2023 but, a full complement in 2024. They both have their work cut out for themselves.

The problems are well worth having to get the SB ring.

I firmly believe the Rams won't hold on to draft capital outright. I think they continue the formula with this core but again has to be young cornerstone type. I'm sure they monitor burns and now after the season his value would be less with one yr remaining. Sweat etc. To early to even discuss. I'm sick to my stomach but thank God for our ring.

Which would make sense if the defense was performing at a level nearly as bad as the offense.

It’s not.

We don't know how much the cap will rise I also think some changes will be made to get cap. Also I believe noteboom probably cut but a real LT will he had. They aren't going to rebuild with Stafford AD Kupp etc. Retool maybe I truly believe they stick to the formula but the smart way. Also Mcvay doesn't seem like he staying for the long haul to go through losing seasons and rebuild and honestly the fan base is harsh with a Superbowl run a Superbowl defense I cringe at the thought of SoFi with 5-12 records ugh.
