I'm not so sure about that. Under McSnead, the Rams have resigned a few players, but the only player they have extended early is Kupp.I feel like the Rams know stuff we dont. Which is why he doesnt have an extension.
They gave him a tender. Probably just waiting until after the season. And if you're Jackson you don't really have any incentive to sign right now. He might be the cream of the crop in free agency.I feel like the Rams know stuff we dont. Which is why he doesnt have an extension.
Must keep. Priority #1.Alaric Jackson's PFF grade for the season is now up to 79. He's the 15th ranked of 132 tackles.
He's gonna get paid and the Rams need to keep him. Objectively.. what a success story and what a developmental win for the team.
Maybe?I feel like the Rams know stuff we dont. Which is why he doesnt have an extension.
No brainer. I'm tired of all the suggestions that we're not sure if he's the answer. We've complained about pass blocking this year and he's our best pass protector.Must keep. Priority #1.
Not to mention his pass blocking has been good so I dunno why the complaints there. But yes we have plenty of offensive line question marks before Jackson. No brainer. Yup, like the Rams know what his suspension was for, and they also know that they gave him the opportunity to get a long term deal elsewhere and he didnt find one. They know lots of things we dont. They also know he's an ascending player and has been a key to the success of the offense. They wont let him just walk awayI feel like the Rams know stuff we dont. Well...Per PFF, he had one bad game in week 3 after returning from suspension. Starting in week 4 he's graded out at above average. Judging by their metrics he's been pretty consistently good this year; their metrics don't reflect a "rounding into form" mid-late season. He really started rounding into form mid-late last season too. I wonder if that points to work ethic or the two missed games this season that it took awhile again.
He’s a good OT. I think the UDFA title follows him around along with people confusing his list time with blood clotting problems as a knock on reliability. Is he top five or even top ten? No. But, I’ll take top fifteen all year. Not to mention his pass blocking has been good so I dunno why the complaints there. But yes we have plenty of offensive line question marks before Jackson.
With a second round tender in a draft class loaded with tackles. Teams aren’t going to pay and give up a pick if they think they can get one on a rookie deal for four years.Yup, like the Rams know what his suspension was for, and they also know that they gave him the opportunity to get a long term deal elsewhere and he didnt find one. Would love if he could be the long-term RT, if they can get a stud LT in one of the next two drafts. For now he is good enough, but an elite LT he is not. Granted not easy to find those as we were spoiled with Whitworth, and yrs ago witj Pace... then again those were the only LTs that have won SBs for this organization and they also played on 4 of the 5 SB teams that we have had. He’s a good OT. Gotta keep in it perspective.
Yeah it’s pretty bad when @dieterbrock’s avatar shows how someone waited till the cat was dead to make fun of it, since they wouldn’t have the balls to make fun of it while it was alive.Hey did I ever tell you that your avatar is offensive to cats and humorless individuals?
The problem is say KC signs him...if you let him work out a deal, the 30th pick from KC doesn't help much at LT even with a trade up.I expect them to tag Jackson. It ensures you don't have a gaping hole at LT next year. It allows him to test the FA market. And from there the Rams will get compensation if he signs elsewhere. Assuming he isn't unrealistic in his demands, it is from there possible he sticks around, but if not then the Rams potentially have draft capital to move up for a LT.
Moving up for LT is important if they need to endure a young player doing the job. You want an early choice for that vice a later one. That is not to say I have been looking at the OT group in the draft, I have not really watched them yet. But if you get into the top ten generally you can have a shot at a guy with a chance to do that job. So the tag and trade is crucial for the Rams in this moment. This is not someone they can let leave in FA and wait on a comp pick.
If they keep him around the advantage is all their resources are spent building around Stafford for another run or two. And that is a significant advantage. So even though I think Jackson comes with a ton of risk in terms of signing him, it feels like the Rams might get that done. Ride Stafford's remaining window and push the LT decision out. Also Jackson could potentially slide over to RT if the Rams were to find a LT type in the 2026 draft. Because RT will be a need by then when Hav rolls out.
Isn't it super rare where a player is franchise tagged and then signed by a new team? The problem is say KC signs him...if you let him work out a deal, the 30th pick from KC doesn't help much at LT even with a trade up.
I forget all the rules for the diif types of franchise tags. Is there one where he can't go anywhere regardless of interest from other teams?
