Ram’s Record Going into the Bye

I'd be ok with 3-2. I see a possibility of a win streak after the bye. If we start 3-2 we could possibly be 8-2 after ten games. I also see 4 more wins in the last 7. 14-3 would likely mean winning the division and possibly a first round bye.

But I think we'd have to beat Detroit to make that a reality. Home opener in their stadium with a loud, fired up fan base. It'll be tough. One thing that might play in our favor is that they experienced that just a few months ago. They'll have a better idea how to deal with it this time.
They delt with it just fine. The refs let everything go. Hard to deal with that. I don't expect that this time. Well, I just don't expect the NFL to care if Detroit looses that game. I don't expect the Refs to worry about calling a PI to keep the rams game winning drive alive.

Let it sink in

I think AD was tired of all the cumulative years of getting double and triple teamed. Gotta imagine that shit is exhausting. AD is a huge loss and the question that will only be answered once the bullets start flying is how will our defense fare without our great leader. It'll be exciting since our D line is full of young, athletic, and hungry D linemen. Gonna just sit back and enjoy watching this team grow.
He said the grind of training camp was his #1. But I can't imagine being double teamed almost all day on defense, that would take the fun out for me. We saw when he got frustrated on the field with his chatter. "Don't help him!" "Be a man!" He was getting fed up. I would too.

Last Spot for Fantasy Football, Anyone Interested?

Finally had a spot open up for myself in a GM dynasty keeper league of 16 teams, 4 divisions.

We have another spot that just opened up after the GM got voted out.

Wanted to see if anybody would be interested? $60 entry fee for the year.

You manage everything with your team from salary of starters, bench, injured, draft etc.

It's year round and you aren't necessarily needing to be on there all the time but want someone who will be active.

My stupid friend has our Rams and he's a Raiders fan! lol

You can change to any franchise that isn't taken, right now the open franchise is the Broncos, I'm the Lions. Anyways this league generally fills up fast ( I waited 2 years) thought I'd see if any of you guys would be interested since the more Ram fans the merrier! lol Wait... Might be tough getting breakout Rams players since you'll know about them to...

Anyways if interested respond.

Greedy Fucking Roger Goodell

This is not the state telling someone what to think or what someone can say. That would be fascist. I’m against that as well.

Yeah but this movement thinks and acts like they are the state and what they say goes.

We're bombarded with their shit 24/7. We can't escape it. Which brings us back to where you entered this thread.

I think I'll leave it there.

Nice talking to you.

Hemorrhoids!

I always wanted to try one of these. You have to let us know which model you chose.

We have the Alpha IX Hybrid model - not sure that is made anymore, but there are follow on "IX" models now. I think some of the newer ones, you can sit on the lid, whereas it would crush the one we have...

This is a game changer!

Your Top 4 Rams 2024 Matchups

Went with the Opening night Detroit game as it could set the tone for the first half-season for us.

The two Niner games because the division championship goes through them.

And, lastly, the Eagles game as it is more important to playoff seeding in the NFC than the Dolphins or Bills games.

Didn't pick either Seattle game only because I think their QB situation works in our favor. Dangerous team, though.

Why the Lions’ secondary has struggled this season

This is where this gets interesting. The Lions lost starting safety and captain Tracy Walker to a season-ending injury in September. Detroit has not spent any Day 1 or 2 picks on a CB since taking Okudah in 2020. The Lions also haven’t signed any veteran to anything beyond one-year tryouts, other than extending Walker. One could point to coaching. One could also easily point to a massive lack of talent on the roster. – Baumgardner

Take your pick. There isn’t a lot of talent to work with in this secondary. There’s Okudah and then a whole bunch of guys who probably wouldn’t start for other NFL defenses. At the same time, there have been instances where Lions’ defensive backs have looked lost on the field. Clearly, Campbell thinks the communication needs to improve. – Pouncy
Detroit has certainly focused on its secondary since the above was written in 2022.

Three high draft choices in Brian Branch, Terrion Arnold and Ennis Rakestraw; and four veteran additions via trade or free agency in Cam Sutton (already off the roster due to a domestic violence issue), Carlton Davis, Amik Robertson and Emmanuel Mosley.

McVay's memory

I think that is a thing of the past with this new roster.
I hope so.

But if he just has to pass I'd hope that he remembers he's got a 6'6" TE with a 38.5" VJ and great hands (Davis Allen) & the team has added a 6'7" TE with a 32.5" VJ and great hands (Colby Parkinson) who both should be able to post up and box out most defenders for TDs.

Only 3 times in NFL history has a QB who lost his first Super Bowl start gone on to win a Super Bowl in his career

dang, how old are you, old timer? Tell us about the diesel electric sub that you served on! :sunglasses:

They still had diesel boats when I was in (and they could still sink your skimmer ass :laugh4:) but I was nuke boats all the way!

Oh, and I'm the same age as you ;)

Puka Nacua: The challenge is resetting the standard this year

Puka Nacua: The challenge is resetting the standard this year

The 2024 season is going to start with a little deja vu for the Rams because they will be in Detroit to face the Lions in a rematch of the Wild Card game that ended their 2023 season.

Their chances of getting a different result will be helped if wide receiver Puka Nacua’s performance elicits memories of last season as well. Nacua set rookie records for receptions and receiving yards in 2023 as he proved to be a perfect fit in head coach Sean McVay’s offense, so there will be high expectations for what he’ll do this time around.

During an appearance on NFL Network this week, Nacua said he feels challenged to meet those expectations rather than pressured.

“No, not really,” Nacua said. “Every week presented a different challenge and who we were playing against and also just trying to make sure I could prepare myself the best way to be able to be there on Sunday and perform my best. I think coming into this year, I think it definitely presents a challenge of just trying to reset the standard. Last year, from what I put on tape and tried to improve in the ways I know I’m capable of and then being there for my team in every which way coach McVay asks a lot of us from the offensive side of the ball. I’m super excited for the challenges that come up this year.”

The result of Week One won’t determine the fate of the Rams or the Lions for the 2024 season, but it will provide an early snapshot of where two NFC contenders are as they begin their push for another successful year.

After defensive offseason, pressure is on for coordinator Chris Shula

You can't replace Aaron Donald. But the Rams don't have to. It's not a matter of replacing the man, but replacing his threat level and production. IMO the Rams have that is Turner, Young, Verse, and Fiske. That is an awesome DL. Behind them, they will have Jones and Brennen Jackson a very underrated edge talent. IMO Jackson will be tasked with containing the mobile QBs they will face. He has the size and speed to do it.

I think the DL will return to a one gap scheme. I wouldn't be surprised if Shula plays a lot of man and zone match with the secondary. He has the personnel to be aggressive and I expect this secondary to ball hawk. With the drafting of Kinchens I think that pretty much moves Lake to SCB in their nickel.

This DL brings a whole lot of speed and power and I would expect Shula to use it. Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if this defense ended the season as a top 10 unit. The only downside will be Shula would then get HC offers. IMO he will make a very good HC. I hope he stays around because he would be a good follow-on to McVay should he again decide to walk away. Yeah I like Shula as a HC prospect a lot.

Rams Select Kamren Kinchens 3rd Round #99

And not trying to make this an anti-Morris thread (because he did a good job with what he had to work with), I felt the defensive scheme (due to the inexperienced players) was lacking last year in trying to stop other teams on 3rd down (especially on 3rd & 10 and longer).

We only stopped other teams on 3rd and 10 or longer at a better than 50% clip on 5 games last year.

And the Bengals was one of them where I showed they actually played aggressive in that game.

IMHO - you need to stop the team at a 70% rate on 3rd and 10 or longer.

Maybe I am asking too much.

I don’t think you’re asking too much. During their title run in the ‘21 season, I believe it was mentioned during the playoffs or the SB the Rams defense was playing lights out on 3rd down. The graphic, IIRC said something ridiculous like 11%.

Defense still wins championships.

Great Condiments

Not sure which food thread this belongs in but this will do.
First of all, I absolutely abhor "convenience" products, but my wife brought this home one day from Trader Joe's and I absolutely love it.

Nice. I was wondering what I needed from that place! :eyeroll:
Trader Joes just opened a new store about 6 miles from here (whereas, the other one which is ~25 miles).

Per Tony Pauline the Rams number one draft target was Byron Murphy

Les mentioned they had pairings in mind, and Verse/Fiske was only one of them.
Les said they would have moved up regardless to get Fiske. Could have been a poorly worded statement, but not when they paid such a premium to go up and get him. That combination tells me they were in love with Fiske.

It happens. They may be right on him too.
