Some things I do really like though...

9th in scoring defense. 9th isn't what is impressive so much as the fact they've played shitty and are still in that top ten. There are three teams giving up 20.X points too so we're in a good spot with hopefully our best ball ahead for that unit. Last season we finished at 19.3 points which was just behind Baltimore. Tampa who won it all gave up 21.6 on the year but were hot come the playoffs.

54% on third down conversions. Last season we were at 41% and mediocreland. This year we're 3rd.

31 points per game by the offense and sitting at 3rd in the league in scoring. Last season we were 22nd with 23 ppg.

Average passer rating of 129.8 which is second only to Wilson. Last season we were 89.1 and ranked 22nd. Also and for the record Detroit is sitting at 93.5 which is good for 22nd ranking. Obviously this is going to change a lot as we go forward but I suspect Stafford will remain way up there.

This is about as good a start as we could have hoped for.

You would think in this pass happy era the record would be broken, but do to TV commercials making the average game last 4 hrs and CBS complaining about games intruding on their biggest ratings show at the time, 60 minutes, the league changed a bunch rules to shorten the game. They used to stop the clock after a play went out of bounds and on all incomplete passes. Now that only happens the last 2 minutes of the half and the last 5 minutes of the game. That resulted in lowering the amount of plays per game by 35 to 40%. So the likelihood of this record being broken is slim and none.

Good on Young to improve himself. Unfortunately, I don't think we re-sign him; Jones has too much potential, Young will likely ask for too much, and we'll likely get another compensatory pick for him.

DB seems like a likely target. Certainly, you can get quality players, particularly at safety, on Day 2 of the draft.

Well here it is for anyone who missed it. I count 2 seconds from 0 to ball hike. Not as egregious as I remember but still pretty bad. It hits zero as the guard makes the motion for center to snap the ball.

A'Shawn was effective, but Gaines got more snaps than him and had a solid game. I don't see any negatives there, I see Gaines stepping up and deserving the PT.

Also, Tampa didn’t have success running the ball early and went to throwing a lot more.
This is probably why Hoecht got nearly the same number of snaps as Robinson.

i was chill the whole game because the rams were doing it easy but i swear every time i saw donald blatantly held i lost it. it's just so obvious.

the other time i lost it was when bernard made that long run from a catch from deep inside their territory. there was the most blatant push in the back on young who was about to tackle him inside their 20 for minimal gain. how do those fucking refs let these go? fucking cocks. tried to keep brady in the game for as long as they could until it was obvious the rams wouldn't lose. fucking cheating fucks.

Actually the Rams insisted upon his inclusion in the trade or they wouldn't do it. Kenny is a player they scouted heavily but didn't get the chance to take him in that draft. Young is the defensive version of Corbett who also was heavily scouted not as a center so much but as a OG. Young is that tweener type of player that is built like an ILB but has the speed of a SS. He was originally envisioned as a slightly slower version of Bobby Wagner. They expected to use him that way and now in this defense they are.

Michel showed exactly why I've been high on his acquisition. His blitz pickups were outstanding. Also, he had 67 yards on 20 carries against one of the premier run defenses in the NFL. The Rams ran for a total of 76 yards in the game against that defense. People disparage the OL run play but 76 yards against this defensive front is a pretty good production. Enough to force the Bucs to honor the run possibility. Sony proved he's earned the 3rd down RB even after Akers returns. He also has earned the short-yardage RB as well. He doesn't have breakaway speed but he certainly isn't slow. As long as Sony is healthy the Rams will have a run game.

Brady was 41 of 55 for 432 yds with 1 TD. Yards per pass was 7.1.
Stafford was 27 of 38 for 343 yds with 4 TDs. Yards per completion 8.5 yds.

The Rams followed the exact same game plan to beat Brady. Take away his run support and force him to beat them while under pressure. Brady is an elite talent, but without that support around him, he's a vulnerable as any other QB. I had no doubt that the Rams would beat the Bucs if they simply played a clean game. Just like last year the Rams took away his run support and kept him under pressure. The Ram offense with Goff and Malcolm Brown still beat Brady. In other words, a complete team on both sides of the ball can beat a Brady team following the Ram's blueprint.

But most teams simply aren't built like the Rams. Stafford is playing behind a very good OL. Defenses can't match up with the depth of the Ram's passing game. Woods, Kupp, D. Jax, Jefferson, and Higbee make them 5 deep without counting Henderson, Funk and Michel. Someone is going to be open as long as the OL holds up and it's been holding up just fine.

This was not only a statement win but a huge warning to the rest of the NFL that the Rams can beat anyone. They can over-match any defense and match up to any offense. Yeah, they lost Hollins but they have Lewis, J. Williams, and Garrett and they can game-by-game activate Lawler if they feel the need. But with Garrett coming back and Jonah Williams behind Lewis, they will simply IR Hollins and bring him back when he's ready to play again.

Next Sunday the Rams can snuff out the remaining contender for the division crown. This year's Rams are built to sweep the division and I fully expect them to do just that. Seattle's defense is a mess. The Niners Jimmy G is good but hardly elite. Their rookie will be dead meat against this team. If the Rams sweep AZ again this year, it will be bye bye to Kliff and that entire FO in my opinion.

Losing Hollis to the torn peck only makes things worse. Add Kiser getting snagged by the Broncos…WTH

I said in October of 2001 that the Patriots were gonna win it all. Everyone was tuning in to Patriot games after 9/11 and even as they were 3-4, iirc. I just felt an air of inevitability...

People forget that we not only were taped and Belichick so abused the gentleman's agreement that the Refs would let the game play even in the face of obvious fouls, but that Patriot team also got bailed out during the Raider game with all sorts of shenanigans not the least of which was The infamous Tuck Rule.

Everything about that Super Bowl was wrong other than the Rams being there and I think that's when the NFL decided to "tweak" the outcomes of Super Bowls. Which is when I realized that if you pay attention to the "stories" entering the playoffs, it's more than just "establishing a narrative for each playoff team and then amplifying the winner's narrative". I truly think last season was supposed to be a last hurrah for Drew Brees, but when he finally shut it down, his list of ailments were almost inhuman... 8 broken ribs and a host of other injuries... so they moved on to other stories.

Like, the minute I found out about Andy Reid's son getting a DUI and harming that little girl on the eve of the Super Bowl, I knew that there was NO CHANCE that the NFL would allow the image of Andy Reid celebrating to be juxtaposed with the stories of a little girl fighting for her life.

Which led to the first have having so many flags thrown that you'd have thought someone air dropped a ton of Terrible Towels...

The Bucs passing game did succeed, but they lost.

The bggest drop off from going from Staley to Morris, as my thoughts were concerned, was the secong half adjustments. Staley seemed to hone in on what wasn't working and shifted the D to the best of their ability. It was recognizable last year. Morris is winning me over. Our D line and the linebackers were like a well oiled machine in the second half.

Stafford is 5th in passing yards, second in passing TD's, second in QB rating, third in yards per attempt, second in passing first down percentage, first in 40+ yard passes and only has 1 INT.

Not too shabby.
