I think we could go to battle with the current roster, which is a great position to be in going into the draft.

Could we improve at a number of places? We could. But we don't need to reach for anyone in the draft, which is better than it seemed just a few weeks ago.

The first round pick could be a tight end, a wide receiver, a tackle, a middle linebacker or a cornerback. Hell, they could even go for a special running back or edge if they fell into their laps. I hope not, but even a QB if they felt strongly enough about the player. That's a great position to be in.

I cannot for the life of me understand why no team wishes to sign Whit to a 3 year deal. You could do a lot worse! Like a LOT worse

So yeh, this is a great move I just feel a little sorry for him considering some of the money being thrown around

He’s on the very definition of a team friendly deal including one of his bonuses being if the Rams make the SB

They could be planning to trade down for picks for NEXT year's draft...
There's a certain logic to that, but that doesn't seem like the Rams MO. I'm getting 2021 vibes. I think the Rams will empty out all the bullets in their chamber, and not stockpile any picks for 2026. Margin between winning and losing is so small, they'll take every edge they can get for a Super Bowl run in 2025.

He's gonna be 30 this year so that's probably part of it.

I was looking at this and trying to figure out who you were talking about. Whit doesn’t exactly translate to Witherspoon.

Right when I was thinking this draft is probably going to be BPA with a focus on depth and 2026 positions of need.

Now I need to go back and do more analysis.

Well, they could hope to trade back a few times and try to amass a bunch of picks. Maybe turn that first into a second + and trade that into another third, etc…. In a draft that is considered to be short on stars but deep on starters it could make sense to load up on more day two or three picks.

Well, food for thought, Rams aren't shy about making trades at the deadline. It sure seems we've set ourselves up for some cap flexibility going into the year and a trade down with picks into next year may not just net us treasure for a possible QB move up but for a pickup next season if it looks like we can make a significant superbowl push.

In some ways of course the answer can be "both." For example, they really need in 2025 a talented "swing tackle" that could be an upgrade over McClendon and (gulp) Arcuri. They also need a viable replacement for Hav in 2026. So I for one wouldn't be surprised if they go OT in round one-- fills a hole in 2025 (swing tackle) AND is a good plan for 2026(non-rookie starter).

Not quite understanding your wording in this post... are you referring to a "push" in 2025 or 2026?

Are you saying a trade down for 2026, which is then flipped at 2025 trade deadline for a player? A lotta moving parts....!

If so, yeah, I could see that as a possibility...

His best quality is he fights for the football. Put him on Kupp and watch him strip the ball every single play.

I’d say going against Adams will only help solidify his game. Adams is an amazing WR,but Kello thrives guarding Bigger WR’s.

Jesus, I couldn't even read my post.

I'm talking about a trade back in the draft in 2025 for a 2026 pick. That pick or others could be used with some optionality to either add a player at the trade deadline in 2025 for a playoff push or kept for a possible QB trade up next year.

dude made game saving plays in several games down the stretch.

Wonder the contract numbers.

Last year he barely made 1 million.

It’s still an area we can improve in the draft.

Our starting CB’s both rank low for starters.

His contract is insensitive based. 1 year $3plus Million.

It’s based on playing time SO he wants to earn it,but also I’m sure has a handshake agreement with Mcvay that he’ll start.

Then it’s based on making The Playoffs & the Topper is WINNING & making the Superbowl!!

Pretty sweet deal in my book. TEAM(WE) Player.

Lol, yeah, that's exactly what I thought you meant. Thanks for the clarification though.

I honestly wrote him off.

What a fantastic surprise!

His absence this next year was really concerning to me.

Team really believes this year we have a solid chance.

LOVE IT!!!

How quickly this guy went from a whipping boy on here to a hero.
Anyway, good resigning....Id consider using that 1 on a CB.
With Forbes in the fold and another first round talent to mix with the vets....could be a good room.
