I get the concept… searching out market inequities is something they’re always looking to do.

But there’s too much on the line, imo, to not get that premium edge.. what’s more… I’d draft another in the third round.

The pass rush is awful. Crank that up and you get more stops AND more turnovers. The Rams are getting the ball on D at a very low rate.

I just think the offense is basically elite right now.. I’d keep as much intact while investing some picks in the line.
Yea agree strongly on a few things here.

1. Keep as much of the offense together as possible. Time in the system is a real thing. Knowing the plays affects so many things from running the correct route, blocking the right way and not causing an illegal shift or false start due to confusion. Chemistry is also a thing. How guys block together, how a RB reads certain blockers, how the QB anticipates WR routes etc. The flop of the Allen Robinson experiment is an example. Another is Robert Woods, worked well with Goff but not so well with Stafford. However OBJ did right away. You never know when a player doesn't flow with the current team. We likely can't re-sign everyone we want. Olineman, Robinson etc. But I would lock down those Olineman first if possible -- especially Dotson. Then see about Robinson.
2. Prioritize Edge - Can't screw this up. I go hard after a Josh Allen if possible or someone else with superstar talent. I also probably look at the draft early for another edge. Have to get a top CB somewhere as well, but I start with edge after getting that Offense re-signed.

I think it's pretty clear that Robinson is WR3 as he offers a better play radius. I doubt Atwell makes that TD reception Robinson had under the goal posts. He's a better route runner, and he's not slow with 4.5 speed and he can block as well. I think he's found a home in LA if he wants it.

McVay's offense with Puka and Cooper is primarily an intermediate zone attack relying upon YAC beyond that. Its why Robinson is a better fit. Atwell's speed would have been coveted in 2017 and 2018, but Tutu took too long to develop. McVay shortened that emphasis up to be more ball control. He's more mindful of clock control more so than in those previous years. Tutu has a role but it's changed. Tutu must reinvent his game. It's why the Rams had no problem with parting ways with Jefferson who was their deep threat.

I'd be surprised if the Rams didn't offer Robinson a 2 year deal. Tutu is signed through 2024 after that he's a comp pick IMO. It's why IMO a WR will be on the table early on the third day IMO.

They use the motion guy to block in the run game, Kupp, Puka and Higbee are good blockers, I don’t know if they are asking Tutu to find a backer or safety to block is all I was saying.
Yeah, right. I see what you're saying. They do that. That's not what the short motion was. Short motion is used in passing plays to put defenders in conflict against the pass.

It happens at 26 seconds in on this highlight reel.

Dolphins were killing teams with it early in the year (not sure what they've been doing since, I haven't seen any of their games after the first few weeks). We ran Tutu on it a few times and it seemed to really work well with his speed. Doesn't seem like we've run it at all since 1st quarter of the season.

How about it doesn't matter? It's just a good problem to have and it makes 4WR sets another way to attack. Robinson is clearly a bigger target than Tutu and that's good to have. Tutu is a great asset on quick outs and screens. It's like McVay has multi-tool in his pocket and he just flips out what he needs...:thumbsup1:

I don't think Robinson is playing himself out of a contract with the Rams. He's a good number 3. You don't need to break the bank for those. And free agency is full of them this year.
