Warren. I'd trade up for Warren. It would cost a lot but he is worth it IMO. Travis Hunter is another, but that would be a massive trade up and likely not worth it. He would be excellent on this team. I'd also support a small trade up for Loveland. I wouldn't hate small trades up for Will Johnson or Barron either. Outside of those guys, sit and pick or trade back.

we need that 2026 first-round pick to draft his replacement
Agreed, and the spot the Rams would be picking probably won't be high enough either .... there will probably be picks from the following involved in order to get a QB worthy of competing for the starting position.

The other option is packaging the 2026 first and other players/picks for a known commodity in a trade, a la Stafford.

Nobody.

Any trade up would almost certainly require our 2026 first. With Stafford possibly only having a couple of years left, we need that 2026 first-round pick to draft his replacement.
If anything is gonna happen with that 1rst rounder via trade, it should be swapped for one NEXT year.
The Rams will be too good to be close to the top of next year’s draft. Having two 1rst rounders could make up for that.

I agree with you in theory. But, given the perceived weakness of this year's draft, I can't see any team giving up their 2026 first for this year's 26th selection.

If the Rams are scrapping using 11 personnel a majority of the time and going with mostly 12 personnel then I can see a TE being an day one starter. If someone like Quinyon Mitchell were in this draft class, I'd see him as a day one starter. I'm not so sure about the others although Barron could probably force the team to take away Lake's slot CB duties. If what I've heard on draft podcasts is true regarding potential diva issues, I doubt Luther Burden fits the "We not me" mindset at Rams Park. But, if they are sticking to heavy 11 personnel Ebuka might be a day one starter.

Either way, IMO, there are comparable talents in this draft class that can be had outside of round one who could have similar and possibly better impacts than most of the players discussed in the first round of this draft class.
This is exactly why I'm ok with them actually trading back unless there is someone there like I mentioned. I wouldn't necessarily envision Lake being replaced but Williams, Durant, and Witherspoon are simply just ok starters that can most definitely be improved upon. We had a defense that got great pressure on the QB yet somehow ranked in the lower half of pass defense. If we could get a rookie CB that pushed them down the depth chart, we'd be much better for it. I also would love to add some size and length there too because it is something our defense lacks. As far as TE goes, I could see McVay being enamored by a weapon there so it wouldn't necessarily surprise me if the Rams went that route although I believe there will be other TEs we can get later that eould be just as impactful. I also feel the same way about the trade back as you do. For example, Restrepo, Higgins, and Noel would be some WRs that could add to our WR room big time. Regardless, there are so many ways this team can go that its exciting to imagine what they'll do with these picks.

Agree. That’s why I’m not screaming that from the rooftops. I haven’t been creative enough to come up with a scenario that is both fair in compensatory value (that nets the Rams another 1rst rounder), realistic in that one could see how a particular team might want to move into #26 for a particular player at that cost.

…but I never saw Verse falling to #19 last year, either.

Aside from Oregon, he struggled against better competition (i.e., Penn State). I also don't think he's built for a workhorse load like Hampton is. I don't think he's even the receiver Hampton is. I'm not saying Jeanty's bad, but he's, in my honest opinion, a little overrated for what he's done and what he's shown. Should he have won the Heisman over Travis Hunter? Abso-fucking-lutely. Is he a top ten prospect in this class? That, I don't know.
Jeanty is a top notch talent. His contact balance is insane. He would be electric in this offense. Thing is, there are also other backs that would be awesome as well since the class is so deep.

@Londoner and @fanotodd The mock drafts I've done the Rams get trade offers. I try to go back and see who was selected at 26th, typically a LT. Simmons from Ohio State and Conerly from Oregon are the usual suspects. A couple have been reasonable by mock draft standards. Typically a second and third. If they were able to trade out of the 1st for a second and third I'd be happy.

Yeah, those kind of deals sound more reasonable, but the idea was to somehow garner an extra 1rst in ‘26. I suppose a good player would have to be let go. Not seeing that. I think you’re right—that’s the best the Rams are gonna do with a trade back.

Trading #26 and #90 or 101, for a pick in the early 30's and mid 60s wouldn't break my heart. Going by Jeremiah's top 50 it looks like the players in the mid 30's would have some good players..

I know going by his list isn't perfect. If you drop into 40's you wouldn't have to give up a 3rd.

I've been one of the few that's said at the moment I don't see Young being a critical second contract resigning so I'm definitely for upgrading that position.

That said, does EZ help us win the SB this year? I'm not sure he moves the needle much on that.

I think he could have made the defense a little better
