Since they have multiple picks in the 5th round I can see them drafting a kicker but none particularly stand out. I can see them signing
Eddy Pineiro for about $1-$1.5M. He's not a great kicker but he's far from a bad one and he can be had cheap. This will allow them to draft a kicker and see what they get. If nothing else if the draft guy shows promise they can put him on the PS and let him acclimate to the NFL and practice.

Or try to sign Gay or just sign Robbie Gould. Gould has a better leg in terms of distance but Gay is a hair more accurate. Gay really max's out at about 50 yds. Robbie is better past the 50. Robbie is a proven vet and is cheaper than Gay. Meanwhile they can develop their kicker on the PS.

Not saying I like it but sure looks like we're gonna draft a kicker.

I honestly don't have any idea really of what to look for with kickers. Feel like they're unicorns or something, you don't want to look 'em in the eye or spook them because they'll go on an 0-fer streak and get people fired.

I may have an unpopular opinion, but I would save the money and move on.

I think that the Rams need to take the approach that McVay had in Year 1, fix the Oline.
With a top 10 Oline, Rams will make playoffs (imo) barring injury.
Yes a great kicker can win a game or 2 in the year, but without a top Oline, Rams will not win a SB imo, in their current cap situation.

Get the right pieces on the Oline as Sullivan and Whitworth were. That should be the 2023 plan imo. Save money everywhere else.

Yeah, I'm not sure how the Rams would justify unloading Wagner, Floyd & Ramsey for next to nothing, then paying a Kicker top 5 money.

I wouldnt rule out Gay re-signing. Let's see what the market wants to pay. I'd imagine there has been a frame work of what the Rams would be willing to pay and if he gets the big $$ out there, then go get it.

Are we even going to need a kicker this year?
If we're consistently losing by double digits a kicker won't fix it. If the team is competitive a good kicker is crucial to having a chance to win close games. Not sure yet which category we're in.

Re-read my post. I never stated that a kicker wasn’t important. Is a kicker worth it at any cost? If you think so, that’s your opinion. Not mine.

I don't disagree with you at all. I'm just pointing out that not keeping a good young kicker is a mistake, unless he's asking for more $$$ than he's worth. For example, a bad kicker might have prevented the Rams from winning SB 34.

What do you do after scoring a TD? Forfeit the kickoff? LOL
Guess I will change the print from black to blue.

Rams have so many issues with this roster at this point I really would not use any of my designated worrying brain cells (I don't have many left these days Steve :dizzy:) on a placekicker or punter at this point:blub:.

Gould has a better leg in terms of distance but Gay is a hair more accurate.
You keep saying that but Gay has a slightly better average over 50 (take out his terrible rookie year in Tampa and 9% greater) and has hit from 58 several times over last three years and Gould hasn't hit over 55 since 2015. Maybe 10 years ago that was true but not at Gould's age of 40. Gay is by far the better kicker today both in short and long distance in every category.

Bong "hits". "Tokes" are for joints. Or so I've heard........
When I was a kid it was always "Bong tokes." In fact we usually called them "BTs" but that could have just been a SoCal thing.
