What I don't understand is when Jackson went out why didn't Noteboom shift to LT? Thomas was clearly unprepared because his technique was down right bad. Why is Anchrum still on the team? After 4 years he's actually regressed. I complained about him when he came in before and most people didn't believe it. When an injured Noteboom is better than a healthy Anchrum what does that tell you? Cut the scrub.
When you have 3rd and one or two and you don't run what does that say about your faith in Williams as a RB? NO TEAM FEARS WILLIAMS. Kyren is a better than average RB but he isn't a RB1 that much was painfully clear. He lacks the speed to put the fear of God into a defense. It was clear the Bengals didn't bother to game plan for Williams. Why do you think I'm pounding the table for Taylor? Even if McVay throws on 3rd and short the defense has to honor the run if you have Taylor back there. If the Rams had Taylor games like this are wins instead of losses.
Where the hell is Shelley, Tomlinson, and Dotson? Kendrick can't tackle for shit. What good is a DB that can't tackle? Durant is too raw this year. Time to play Shelley and Tomlinson.
We saw the return of Morris' bend and BREAK defense which leaves the short zone undefended when playing an injured Burrows. Way to go Raheem. Witherspoon is a keeper. Kendrick is a backup talent right now until he learns how to tackle. This 1.5 gap read react DL is a loser. It slows the pass rush. Forget defending the LOS, attack damnit. To get beat by an out of sync injured QB is disgraceful and it's all on Morris. It's his loser scheme.
I was getting the hometown feed and the announcers were tearing apart Morris basic scheme because there was no deception. What Burrows read at the snap is what the Rams played. The only reason the Bengals didn't blow the Rams out was because of all the dropped passes. The Rams had a few stunts on the DL but that was it. The only time the Rams rushed 5 was when the RB stayed in to block. So the Bengals simply had him in the flats and they only got a 4 man rush for most of the game. Morris doesn't understand that the defense is a weapon if used properly. They were laughing at Morris saying as long as the Rams didn't give up the big play he didn't care if the Bengals moved the chains, it was that obvious.
Morris' passive defensive scheme is the only reason this team might not make the playoffs. He plays down to the level his perceived level of competition. When he's wrong this is the result.
Bad coaching lost this game. That much is clear. McVay, LaFleur and Morris get my crushed beer can award.
