It hit me this morning, this team has a lot of similarities to a Jeff Fisher Rams team

Young defensive line balling out, putting us in some good positions. Offensive line struggling. Boring, predictable offense.
I noticed that too but try not to mention Jeff Fisher.

What I didn’t get about last night is if you are gonna play 3 guys who basically haven’t played for months, why wouldn’t you come out running the ball? You know, give the 3 maulers in the interior the opportunity to start the game firing off the line and hitting people.

I did not understand the very first play—a fricking screen. I smelled trouble immediately.

As for speed, Stafford has under thrown Atwell more than he has hit him. Luckily, there have been a couple PIs to bail them out, but the Rams offense is not getting enough out of the speed they have.
I too was thinking this the whole time. Why not ram it down their throats?

I agree that they are not getting enough out of the speed they do have. Atwell and Stafford have never gotten in sync, which is a big reason Atwell doesn't play much. But without him, they really lack speed.

The offense is stale. I have this nagging feeling it needs to be broken down and remade rather than adding to a faulty foundation.

It took time for the new line to come together after the injuries to the starters. Now that the starters are back its gonna take time for them to come together. Question is, will it be too late by then?

O.L out of sync, TE is an issue.
Matt has been uncharacteristically inconsistent.
I am sorry for being the one to ask but I've wondered this the entire year: are we seeing a decline in Matt?

Has he had a strong game from start to finish this year?

People, please tell me I'm crazy.

Time to scrub this game from our conscious minds.

Obviously, our offensive line was offensive. Get that shit fixed. My idea would be by putting Limmer back at his rightful place of starting center, keeping the left side and right guard intact, and hopefully getting Havenstein back - or, failing that - putting McClendon in instead of Noteboom, who is simply nor cut out to be a starting tackle. J-Jax can be the backup for the interior, just in case.

Cornerback is a bigger problem that can't be fixed this season...so I have no issues playing the kids (Wallace, Woods, Lampkin) as much as possible, just to see what we have in them, if they're an answer. Fate knows that everyone else in our cornerback room is extremely inconsistent.

We'll have to take our lumps with Kinchens, McCollough, and Lake, especially since Curl's injured, but I feel more comfortable with our safety depth (even on the practice squad) than our starting cornerbacks, sad to say.

Quite frankly, it was a bad game. We've had games like that before. It hadn't stopped us then. It won't stop us now. Let's fucking kill some Cheatriot ass next game!

Haha. Nope.

Spent 48 years living in south central AK. Chased work to the east coast in 2018 and relocated to Hilton Head Island in 2020.

Alaskan Ram traded in the dark winters for the beach and sunshine. Wild caught Pacific Salmon for fresh sushi.
Spruce Trees for Palmetto Trees.

I did keep my allegiance to the Rams, IPA, and RoD.
(Any my wife and kids. Still love them too, oh and I still hate the 9ers)

Can I keep the User Name?
South Carolina Ram doesn't have the same ring to it.
The Names all yours!

I think he has been really bad this year and I have tough time putting all the blame on the oline. Decline? Hard to say cause it appear the arm strength and everything is still there. I have noticed happy feet, more knocked down passes and him not navigating the pocket as well. I know its not the case but if watched him play for the first time this year almost seems like he dont care. Something is not right with our QB but cant put my finger on it. Everyone wants to blame the oline but it hasnt been so bad that he should only have 9TD passes this season.

This remains a bit mysterious to me.
Tutu is our one WR that can put fear in DC’s and DB’s

I get that we are more ball control this season and McV has done a good job of shortening the development of routes since about the time we went on a run last year.

The O.L need to hold up better than they did last night for the longer developing stuff that plays into Atwells strengths.

So far we have managed to adjust to the challenges and I suspect we will again.

We aren’t a top contender as we sit
Stafford barely had enough time to go to his 1st read accurately-waiting for Tutu to get open would have gotten him sacked or knocked like 5 more times..I just wish Stafford and Kupp could rekindle their 2021 connection.

Have you seen Mahomes numbers this year? Half our offense was injured. Mahomes had his OLine healthy all year. Stafford still has it. I think we see the team we saw the first half against Minnesota the rest of the season. This game was the final wake up call IMO

I feel the same: something is not right with our QB, I can't put my finger on it but I believe it's more than just the OL. It is clear that he can still spin the ball with the best of them.

There's a question in my mind of what it looks like when an older QB is declining. Rodgers is not the same as he once was but he can still throw the football so it's more than arm strength.

I can answer both of these concerns.

Both teams aren't very good. QBs can't do it all. You need a competent game plan, players, and playmakers to do anything productive in the NFL

It's the cognitive decision aspect. As they get older they can only make so many good decisions per game. Stafford is not seeing the field like he once did. He's missing open receivers right in front of him. This should be his last season as a Ram.

I'll argue the OL isn't the issue they were just rusty and they needed snaps. You don't shake off that rust in shorts during the week. You put Hav at RT and that's the best 5 for the OL. Look for them to start the rest of the way and get better.

McVay needs to retire and go into the broadcast booth. He’s not a good coach. The playing coaches on the field are Cooper Kupp, Matthew Stafford and Puka Nacua. Those guys are the real coaches and not McVay. McVay cannot even develop a QB. McVay is an OC only and not a coach.
That has got to be one of the worst takes in recent history. We were lost, wandering in the wilderness before Sean FUCKING MCVAY !!!!!
Best coach the Rams have ever had by a long shot.
And yes, best coach in the NFL.
It was not a great game from a very young team. Not the end of the world.

You're right that QBs can't do it all. I'm not so sure though that it can be said that both teams aren't very good.

The Rams have good players and playmakers. They have a solid WR room led by Nacua and Kupp. They have one of the better RBs in the league. Don't they supposedly have one of the better game planners in the NFL? The OL has been subpar this year due to injuries, but even dating back to last year, the offense has been inconsistent.

But when your Oline plays like doodoo there's not much you can do. There's not many playoff teams with bad Olines.

I think you're missing my point. I'm not just talking about last night. The offense has been inconsistent for the last couple of years EVEN WHEN the OL plays well. When is the last time we've had a consistently strong offense?

I think we are just consistently good at being inconsistent. I can’t remember if we were ever consistent. McVay seems to have a draw up of plays without a foundation. Seems like the type of person who builds from the top down…
