I've been say all along help the better unit. Hope the offense catches lightening in a bottle but win ugly til and when that happens if ever.

Very rarely do teams put quality OL up for trade even bad teams. I’m thinking edge is the much more logical trade target and a buy low type of RB addition.
Yes this is where I am at.

Rams can improve a lot offensively on the cheap by adding a back that can carry the load. Just a balance addition is fine. Hunt would be a very nice add but there are multiple options.

And edge is the biggest roster hole. That is the spot that it is appropriate to spend our round two pick. If they can go get a young edge then fit him financially this defense looks ready for a run.

I've been wanting to say this too, OL that are any good just don't get traded. We were ridiculously lucky to get someone like Corbett years ago. Maybe Snead can find another diamond that another team considers coal but that was a very rare exception I think and I wouldn't get any hopes around that happening again. Teams trade looser on almost every position outside of OL so just more likely for that to happen.

Mighty be an excellent idea at this time.

Hoecht was a RB in HS. He is a very fast runner & that size 6-4 310 is unbelievable. Rams could mix him in this offense & still utilize him on ST's & some defense. Bobby Brown will be active now so there is the fact the DL is still fat.

I prefer Hoecht to be used as a FB/RB myself along with H-Back/FB/TE Roger Carter to develop some power running. It is reported that he is very smart & his understanding of the game is exceptional.
I'm just going to point out I brought up using Hoecht as a tight end before his return. He's an unusual athlete, just not a great defensive lineman.
His punt block and coverage work are what convinced me he could make the move.

Agree that OL is more of a crap shoot, in general.. I also think the Rams can get to "good enough" with health. We'll see.

Also the Rams have
2nd
3rd
6th
6th
6th
6th
7th
7th

And they should have some comp picks and a 4th or 2 4ths will be there. If the Rams eff them picks wanted they have had the mentality all along they would have CMC rt now. They didn't want him as the game altering piece he isn't that deciding factor I wouldn't invest that capital in a walking injury RB.
He is great and will help the whiners no doubt but the end of the day Jimmy G is the QB.

This could be the story as I said early in the yr with a feel good ending for Jimmy or just another disappointing season for the whiners.

Just remember there biggest obstacle in not winning a Superbowl hasn't been a RB.

It's been 2 serial chokers in:
Jimmy and rat face.

Add to the defense best way to counter this move and hopefully for a young cornerstone to still be here after AD.

I am with you here on the ER unit being the biggest issue on this defense when you remove the injury problem.

No matter how well our big secondary & ILB unit's trending up. The 5 defender front is seriously deficient in the pass-rushing performance. No matter which RB they overspend on & bring in here this run game is not going be anything to help us win.

McVay has Henderson/ Brown/ Rivers/ Powell/ Williams and an OL that can not run block period, but they can pass block. That's on our HC/ OC & OL coach to work on this deplorable run-blocking OL. McVay will be forced to utilize his highly talented WR unit to help get running yardage in his run game for the rest of this season. There is a copious amount of unemployed RB on the streets that can be signed to this PS that might help without any large team investments.

Bradley Chubb 6-4/275 is far more 43 DE than a 34 OLB'er but he can seal the edge & produce very good pressure when on the field. The Rams do not have a player like him on this defensive roster.

Bradley Chubb

Not many people expected the Denver Broncos to potentially be sellers at the trade deadline, but here we are. The Broncos are 2-4 to begin the season, and with Baron Browning emerging in recent weeks, Bradley Chubb’s name has popped up in trade rumors.

The former No. 5 overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft has dealt with various injuries in the first four seasons of his career as he’s been limited to seven or fewer games in two of the last three years. But when Chubb is on the field, he’s flashed plenty of talent, including this year where he’s posted 5.5 sacks, four tackles for loss, and two forced fumbles despite Randy Gregory missing the last two games at the opposite edge-rushing spot.

Chubb is only 26 years old and he’s in the final year of his rookie contract, so the Broncos could be willing to move him instead of paying him. The Rams could trade for Chubb and either sign him, or they could allow him to walk in free agency and recoup a compensatory pick for him.

And even when we traded for AC he was largely considered a bust. A second round pick that the Browns couldn’t get to play at any position on their OL

KYREN WILLIAMS RB, LOS ANGELES RAMS
Kyren Williams

The Athletic's Jourdan Rodrigue expects Rams fifth-round rookie RB Kyren Williams (ankle, I.R.) to have a "big role" once he returns.

The Rams have yet to open Williams' 21-day practice window after he underwent ankle surgery before the season. But over the summer, it appeared Williams was ticketed for a bigger-than-expected role on offense, possibly even moving ahead of Cam Akers on the depth chart, but then he got hurt. With Akers now done in Los Angeles either via trade or some other form of transaction, there's a spot for Williams alongside Darrell Henderson. Williams is worth a stash on fantasy benches or injured reserve lists.

Wouldn't it be great for Williams to be a revelation. But even while you hope for that you hedge your bets and go get another back. This isn't fucking rocket science.

True enough. Williams may replace Akers, but Henderson is likely lost to free agency after this season also. Brown may or may not have much of a future here himself, and he's another who enters free agency.

I doubt seriously Williams will be of significant help this season. Rams might get a wildcard spot, but I'm afraid this is a lost season due to cluster injuries. I feel badly for the (D) as father time marches on.
Unfortunately, I agree.

On another point, I always hated the expression Father Time. I was really close with my dad and he was a great guy. It should be something like Step-Uncle-Time. Few people have good experiences with a step-uncle.

If that catches on, I expect credit.

That's why I think the Rams try to make a move for this season but also future implications a move that means more than this year.
Or just a quick fix type Jerry hughes move.

The types of moves the Rams make will tell where there mind set is for now and the future.

I'm not ready at 3-3 to call it a "lost season" just yet. You can still just invest in the top 3 unit the defense and go down fighting winning ugly and if the offense should catch fire great but if not and you win ugly or get just enough points by extra possessions that's a remedy too.

The moves the Rams make is exciting for us to but the players also expect reinforcements and that tells them we haven't given up on you or the season is a wash. So this is a fine line for many reasons. Will be interesting.

To me again won't take away from his talent and what rat face can do with him but a RB is not a position that alters your outcome to often or leads you to a Superbowl it's a piece and it could help but ultimately rat face and Jimmy G will have to step up.

Lastly what does it say if a team which is a lot closer to all in and a lot closer to winning a Superbowl like the Bills back off the trade when they are literally a better RB away from almost being a perfect team yet as of now they believe they can win maybe a nip tuck here there but means that cost was to high for a RB even CMC

Well, you could say the loss of the A grade Gurley cost the Rams the 2018 SB.

So it is a position that can make the difference in the playoffs.

Not sure Tampa wins in 2020 without Fournette.

Yes and no Akers and company did nothing in this Superbowl and we won with 1 wide receiver. Mcvay got taught a lesson by Belicheats as he has admitted and Goff wasn't good enough to take over.

I'm not denying CMC ability but the RB position isn't known to win you a game single handedly. And also saying if we had grade A Gurley we win is great but still speculation.
On the the otherhand defense and or a QB win you more chips.

He will make them better not taking that away he will even make Jimmy better but when chips are down not so sure.
