Big difference in what the Rams do or how they do it and others that emulate them.
Yes some luck like timing may be required but we efff them picks 1st rounders for young proven cornerstone pieces at positions where it's difficult or takes a lot of luck to find franchise type players.
CMC is definitely a star but a walking injury and at a position that does not require excellence to win it all. So teams try to copy but seem to notch the formula and also while the Rams are eff them picks if they want someone that badly they would have upped the offer. I think the Rams are in the heads of the whiners off the field they seem to be so angry they are in ours on the field lol.

I hate these media dopes saying Rams had no picks to offer....do some work man.

I think the Rams know that they need pash rush more as there defense ranked 3rd with one of the worst pressure rates in the league.

I'd be ok with our rbs or if they go Gibson Jacobs I'd love etc.

A lineman would be great for a pick.

But as far as rushers:

Burns
Chubb
Sweat

I'd rather pay a premium for young dude that give up a pick for an old dude like hughes even though he has been effective.

I just got off the phone to a friend who works for Fox Sports in Denver. He said there is talk of the Broncos talking to the Rams about trading Bradley Chubb, for Akers and either another player or a draft pick next year. I told him I'd haven't heard anything myself but it would make sense for Akers and the Rams.

Chubb is in a contract year. They could extend the contract (he's only 26) making it fit this year. It's all about the guaranteed money. It sounds like the Broncos want to unload his $12.7M contract. The Rams could turn it into a signing bonus and rewrite the contract over 4 full years with a year or two void years. Chubb isn't an elite edge but he's a good edge who could be better on this DL. He's young enough to warrant at least one more multiyear contract.
I hope your friend is on to something here because Chubb for Akers would be an absolute steal. Regardless of the contract situations, I don't see why Denver makes that trade, and I am sure they can get more for Chubb.

It sucks to see CMC going to SF, but I am not too worried about it. That team destroys their RBs. No way McCaffery holds up and stays healthy. I also don't think he will be much of an upgrade over Mitchell (who himself is quite the talent) in that particular system, which really is all about just hitting the hole as fast and hard as possible... you don't need a RB of CMC's talent level to do that.... which is why their system has been able to just "plug and play" so many RBs to great success. Jimmy G is a check down master. McCaffery's pass catching ability out of the back-field will give them a huge boost there. But paying that much to acquire a vastly improved RB check-down game? Meh.

Another guy no one is thinking of is James Robinson. Could he be had too? There are a lot of options out there the Rams can still go and use less draft capital.

Throw a 6th to Carolina for D'Onta Foreman. 6-1 230, and he has some juice. Played well in Tennessee last yr.

Yeah if it's only for Akers and maybe a third day pick at most. Talk about injury prone, other than his rookie year he has been constantly injured. He's done ok this year so far but yeah... I wouldn't trade a ton for someone who has had one great year and a bunch of struggles since then who will want a new contract after this year. But if they can pull it off for just Akers and minimal capital it'd be worth a shot.

Not sure why any back would want to come here and try to run behind our patchwork O line. Seems like a potential career ender.

Difference maker for the Whiners for sure.
Shanny will be having dreams of how to line up Deebo, Kittle and McCaffrey.
Really bad new for the Rams and their tendency to miss tackles vs SF.
Does this make SF the favorite for the NFC Title now?
They didn't even give up a freaking first, because they didn't have one to give up.
Im not hoping a player gets injured but if it happens.....

Ur a better guy than me. Fuck the Whiners. I hope for all the bad luck for their squad that can come their way. I detest that team more than any other team hands down.

Sorry, I don't see it that easy. Doctors would have to buy-in on symptoms; and, if there are none, that's unlikely.

Regardless, Cam Akers would have to buy-in; and, he seems to want-out.
I think teams can manipulate the system to their benefit.

They just went all in with wilson. Now their giving up on the season. Besides, they got good RBs. I dont think so.

Completely agree, and many teams do just that when they can get away with it.

However, everyone has to buy in to make it work. Aside from medical people (who have their reputations and credibility to consider,), there's the individual player. Why would Akers ... who seems to want out ... agree to being placed on IR if he was not injured? He could out the Rams and the sham-move; and pretty-much force his way out-of-town.

The Rams could keep him on the 53, not give him any practice reps and designate him as a game-day-inactive (teams only dress 46 players). That would screw Akers ... and I am OK with that given his bull-shit attitude (which I am assuming). However, it would also hurt the Rams. They would effectively lose a roster spot, and have a disgruntled player around.

When a player wants out, it creates a tough situation unless the player has real trade-marketability.

Very rarely do teams put quality OL up for trade even bad teams. I’m thinking edge is the much more logical trade target and a buy low type of RB addition.

Didn't want to create a thread for this, so just adding it here.

Michael Hoecht should be moved to TE next yr. They said he was a RB in HS and watching him run that kickoff back 20 yrds and the fact that he supposedly was a 4.65 40 guy in college at 300 lbs, he could be a nice blocking TE/ HB with upside.

Just a thought as I don't see him ever being anything special at DT.
Might be an excellent idea at this time.

Hoecht was a RB in HS. He is a very fast runner & that size 6-4 310 is unbelievable. Rams could mix him in this offense & still utilize him on ST's & some defense. Bobby Brown will be active now so there is the fact the DL is still fat.

I prefer Hoecht to be used as a FB/RB myself along with H-Back/FB/TE Roger Carter to develop some power running. It is reported that he is very smart & his understanding of the game is exceptional.

Rams need a Chubb-like pass rusher from the DL in the worse way.....he can play the 5 tech post without any issues.

AD is winding down his career in LA as a pass rush force he will be 32 yr old when TC begins next season.

Giving AD some pass-rush help in his twilight years might keep him more productive this season & next. This would be very smart to get AD some DL pass rush help. Make it so Snead!

Rams are paying AD a ton to carry this team on his back on the pass rush duties. If Snead wants to get the most dividends on the AD $$$$$ investment give him some help!

I really don’t think Chubb is someone I want on the Rams. He has been unavailable too much, only played 13 games the last two years and only 1 full season in his career.

The defense really isn’t this team’s bigger needs. Now that CMC is off the table, and Akers is apparently bailing after a shitty start, RB has got to be addressed.

For fuck sake. All the Rams have to do is win next week and that trade won’t look so great. The Rams would be split head to head but have a better division and conference record.

Does this mean deebo will have trouble hitting his bonus #s now that the 9ers have another proven back?
It should impact Deebo's carries... but I think you're looking at it wrong.

He doesn't want that many carries and it's more of a penalty for the 9ers if they keep using him that way.
