Should be buyers and improve this O'line and get AD help. if we cant even do that, and staff gets a severe injury because we couldnt protect him, then forget next year. Even if we are 3-5, we still arent bad off. Entire NFC sucks except Lions, Iggles, Cowboys and sea chickens/69ers. Outside of them everyone is going 9-8 or lower at this rate. We are Going to get a Mid level 1st round pick either way because everyones records are bad.

Why are people acting like a third round pick is some incredible thing? There is roughly a 10% chance of a third round pick becoming a Pro Bowler. While I value our third round pick, I'm not going to overvalue it. Chase Young is 24 years old. Byron Young, the promising EDGE we drafted this year, is one year OLDER than Chase Young. Smart teams know when to take risks and know when to buy low.

I think we'd be buying low on Chase Young. This is a guy who went #2 overall in the NFL Draft and was considered a #1 overall talent. He had a good rookie year. He took a step back as a sophomore and then suffered a season-ending knee injury midway through the year that made him miss most of his third season too. He returned to the field this year and has 5 sacks in 6 games.

Would this be a risky trade? Sure. But there's also a lot of upside. Young might get injured again. Young's good play early this season might prove to be a mirage. Those are the risks. But on the other hand, Young might be a #2 overall talent finally coming into his own. And if that is the case, we may have a 10+ sack per year type edge rusher for the next 5-8 years. We might have the guy whose production in his final year at OSU was on par with Joey Bosa's best year and better than Nick Bosa's best year at the same school.

Do I like trading our a third round pick? No. But he's 24 years old and has a huge amount of potential. He has length, power, speed, agility, and hand use. The guy gave Garrett Bolles, a LT some folks want us to acquire, the business this year.

Washington is in a bind. They have already paid Jonathan Allen and DaRon Payne big money. Montez Sweat and Chase Young are both hitting FA this year. There is no way they can afford to keep both. That's why they're willing to move on, not because Young and/or Sweat lack ability. They are simply facing reality. They aren't going to contend, and they're going to lose one of those guys this offseason, no matter what. Let's take advantage.
Sweat is better, its not close in my opinion.

AD to the Pittsburgh Steelers for their first and third in 2024, and a conditional second in 2025 (turns into a first if Donald gets twelve sacks or the Steelers make the playoffs).

Stafford to the Atlanta Falcons for 2024 second and third and 2025 third.

Rob Havenstein to the Miami Dolphins for 2024 third.

Ahkello Witherspoon to whatever team needs help with cornerbacks for 2024 fourth.

Joseph Noteboom for 2024 seventh.

Brian Allen for 2024 seventh.

Derion Kendrick for 2024 sixth.

Tyler Higbee (I know we just signed him, but he's doing NOTHING to justify it.) for 2025 fourth.

Brycen Hopkins for 2026 seventh.

Michael Hoecht for 2025 sixth.

Jonah Williams for 2025 seventh.

Earnest Brown IV for 2026 seventh.

John Johnson III to for 2025 sixth.

Demarcus Robinson for conditional 2025 seventh.

Let's just tear it the fuck down.
Wtf? I hope this is a joke. If it isn't, talk about a knee jerk reaction with a blown ACL and a bout of endless diarrhea hahahahaha

Actually when healthy Young has been much better.
How so?
They both appear healthy this season and Sweat has been better. More sacks, more than double the amount of tackles and has forced 2 fumbles where Yong isnt credited with any

How do you figure that?

If the numbers are accurate, that's $110M of Dead-Money. That's 40% of next year's salary cap.
I was talking more for like ONE of the three being dealt. Or more even. I would take any onerous cap hits and start the TRUE rebuild in '25. Especially if we get a new Franchise Quarterback next Draft.

Rams are not winning another Super Bowl with the current huge salary players. Donald, who still looks like Donald. Kupp, who seems to be slowing down just a bit which is making a huge difference. Stafford, who hasn't played well in two season except for a game or two. Really time to sell and rebuild.

Excessive Dead-$ will limit cap flexibility, and Slow-Down a re-build.

According to PFF Chase Young generates far more pressures than Sweat. Sweat has a low pressure rate.

Pressures are considered to be a more important stat than sacks.

Sweat has more tackles, more tackles for loss, more forced fumbles, more sacks & more QB hits. Basically every measurable stat.
But due to some made up stat by PFF, it outweighs all of that? To the extent that he's much better?
Young was a beast in his rookie year, his 2nd year he was trash before he got hurt.
I cant say I've seen a lot of Washington play, but what I have seen Sweat looks like the better player

I would be shocked if we trade for anyone. We won't be doing anything is my guess.

Just go get Young or Sweat and jumpstart the off-season process by locking in an EDGE or DL to pair with AD and Byron Young.

I was against this a few days ago but our picks might be top 5 each round. I'd give a third for one of them.
