He played one more game. I’m referring to this season
Well the PFF guys claim Young is more explosive and causes more pressure. Maybe Sweat has benefitted from Young’s pressures.

I heard it on the PFF podcast and I’m pretty sure that they said Sweat has a 10% pressure rate, which is pretty low. I’ll have to see if I can locate where it was on the audio.

Fuck it, give me both.

What's funny is they are so tight best friends brothers etc and love playing with one another would be great to land one now then hope the other makes it to free agency and sign him with that carrot dangling.

I wish that'd happen!

Don’t know who they have to ‘sell’.
Is there anyone they could trade that would get back more than a late round pick swap?

There is. He’s a fan favorite, definitely one of mine. I would be bummed to see it happen, but after seeing what occurred this past weekend…

Kupp to the chiefs for a 2nd and a 4th? The chiefs desperately need a WR with a proven ability. They are the defending champs so they’re not far off talent-wise to get back to the SB.

A 2nd round pick would be minimum because it is almost a 3rd rounder by the time the chiefs pick, but coupled with the Rams 2nd and 3rd rounder, there are a ton of options for the Rams depending on where they end up picking. Landing the future QB would be realistic along with a LT for protection.

Sadly, this deal makes sense to me in that it addresses the chiefs’ one glaring need and the Rams’ elephant in the room—Stafford’s replacement.

This idea (seller) makes more sense than being buyers of players who won’t be under contract next year. The idea of sending draft picks for an Edge rusher when the Rams are so far away is ludicrous. If you believe in guys like Turner and Young, you know they will be even better next year. Rinse and repeat. QB, LT, and a CB are more pressing going into next year. A better pass rush was important THIS year.
…but the Rams aren’t going anywhere this year.

PFF is nonsense IMO
The actual stats tell a different story. Production why, Sweat is the more consistent and at this point, better player. I get why some prefer Young, because of the opinion he may have a higher ceiling, but I think that's more to do with his reputation from college. Alas, we wont get either so Im not really all that invested

Sacrilege!

Seriously though, are you sure such a trade would not hurt the Rams from a Dead-$ perspective?
Trading players that are one or two years into a big extension often hurts a team's cap far more than help it; and that could slow-down the Rams' off-season rebuild.

Also, I would not consider the 60-64th overall pick sufficient compensation for Cooper Kupp.

That would be like trading Jalen Ramsey for a third round pick!

Sweat traded to Bears for a 2nd which means Chase Young probably stays..

Even the Bears are making moves.

Meanwhile Snead and his analytics morons can't wait to find the next undersized DE and shove it up our ass.

I honestly don't see how this trade benefits us at all. Huge dead money and essentially a 3rd round pick for a HOF WR who honestly isn't that old. It gives us another large hole to fill in the offseason.

Bummer on the trade. In reference to the undersized DE, if you are referencing Young, he seems to be doing pretty well so far.

No, I'm not referencing him.

Just in general. Get tired of the whole analytical push. Too much emphasis on it, and that's how come we end with undersized dudes that don't have that DAWG in them.

I’m not a cap expert, but I am a Kupp fan—believe it or not.
But the idea of trading either Donald or Stafford (which has been suggested) doesn’t really get much back, IMO. People are out of their minds thinking the Rams can pull in multiple or even one 1rst round pick for either. One is on the verge of retiring because we stink, and the other is about to get knocked into retirement if the blocking/playcalling doesn’t improve.
…so that leaves us Mr Kupp.

1) This offense was actually doing quite well before he came back. Atwell has all but disappeared since.
2) The chiefs’ WRs have been infected with butter fingers.
3) I have seen in some cases where a trade partner picks up some of the cost in a trade. Can any of Kupp’s hit be handed off to a trade partner like the Rams did with Goff?
4) maybe a late 2nd and 4th aren’t enough. What would you take?
That’s assuming there would be a way to dump some of the cap hit on KC.

This is all just food for thought because if I’m another team’s GM, the only Rams I’m looking at are rookies!

The Rams will stand pat because they are playing the long game. This season is now about developing this year's draft, and seasoning the OL. Their record will be what it will be. If they end up in the top half of the draft next year all it does is position them better for the QB they absolutely will be taking. If there was any doubt in anyone's mind, Stafford's injury and standing pat with Rypien should have dispelled any of that.

They aren't tanking, but making the playoffs this year isn't a priority. They are going to save their money and picks for next year. They could finish in the top 10 next year which is where their targeted QB or QBs will be. It will make trading up easier and cheaper to insure they get the one they want. I can't argue with that thinking. They also are thinking of Stafford's contract. If they can nurse him through 2024 then he will be at their targeted retirement at the end of that season and give their young QB a redshirt year to acclimate and polish his skills.

I don't like it but I can hardly argue with it. They are looking at the long term. This has always been viewed as a foundational draft year. They have done that. I have always contended that the Rams will lose their core players of Stafford, Donald and Kupp in 2025. IMO they now have two of those replacements on board in Turner and Nacua. They have a very promising edge in Young.

The Rams look good at safeties long term with Lake and Yeast. Witherspoon and Dotson were key acquisitions that will give them another 3 to 4 years of good service. The same can be said about Royce Freeman, who has shown he's underrated and runs with speed and power. If they want a true #2RB behind Williams they have it in Freeman.

I think the jury is still out on Jackson as their franchise LT. If Noteboom can completely heal he gives them an option at RT if not they can draft an LT and move Jackson. That said because of his attitude, I think Jackson will walk which is the real reason IMO he got the LT start as Noteboom was more realistic just wanting to start.

Draft priorities:

1. QB1
2. Edge
3. OT
4. CB
5. RB
6. WR
7. QB2

I think it's clear the Rams are now taking a long term approach. What is unclear is whether or not they shut Stafford down for the rest of the year on IR. They will if he needs surgery. Regardless it's clear they need a QB better than Rypien to finish the year.
