As someone who obviously doesn’t live in California, I would like to ask a question: how long has this hatred of the 49ers been in place?

I started watching the NFL in 1985 and there didn’t appear to be anywhere near the enmity between the two franchises back then. Rivals? Yes. But respectful ones.

Did it start with the SOSAR bollocks?

Or is it like football support here in the UK, where wall-to-wall coverage and social media have combined to drive up vitriolic behaviour amongst fans?

Any answers, especially from people who have to live with Whiners fans on a daily basis, would be appreciated.

For me, it started with the SOSAR comments, ken norton jr punching the goal post after they scored, merton hanks with the chicken dance and we also had a 17 game losing streak that just got under my skin. Then you now have guys like dweebo samuel who talks trash then sits and cries after a loss instead of congratulating the Rams after he talked sh*t and lost.

For me, it literally started with the 17 game losing streak because that’s when I started watching football. Growing up in Whinerville, I could only watch the Rams when they played them and watching them lose 17 times in a row really messed with my “football” childhood and early teenage years, haha. I know the Cowboys have been a laughing stock for blowing it in the playoffs, but they’ll always have a place in my heart for getting the better of the Niners during the 90’s.

As already mentioned, their fanbase is pretty shitty. All that success in the 80’s and 90’s left them spoiled, arrogant, and very whiny. I knew fans who hated on Jeff Garcia despite being a Pro Bowl quarterback. Now they’re desperate for their next Joe Montana, who they think they have in Brock Purdy. He doesn’t suck, but he also wouldn’t be in the Super Bowl if other players knew how to catch his interceptions.

Also, I can’t stand some of the local new/radio broadcasters. Greg Papa seems arrogant to me. I listened to his radio show after they lost to the Vikings this year and he implied that the Vikings only won because Kirk Cousins had the greatest game of his life. He had a hell of a game, but to say that he played his best game ever is insulting to Kirk Cousins and a very arrogant way to view your own team. He also started calling Moody “Money Moody” in preseason before making any real kicks in pressure situations. On top of that, he’s a fucking dork, and sounds like a goober saying “There’s a Sacko!” when the whiners get a sack. It’s pretty shameful man.

Lastly, a lot of these annoying ass Warriors fans that came out of nowhere about 10 years ago were really Niners and Giants fans who didn’t give a shit about basketball before Steph Curry and Klay Thompson. Despite growing up a Lakers fan, I never hated the Warriors and would sometimes watch them play on tv when I was younger. They always felt like an Oakland team to me and I felt some subtle kinship there because I grew up rooting for the A’s. Now you have all these SF Giants/Niners/Warriors fans who DID NOT EXIST back in the day, and these jerks think that the Warriors are God’s gift to basketball. It’s the same Whiner arrogance with a different team and it’s annoying as shit to be around.

Every week, there's a whiner forecast on the radio here where I live in Hawaii. I recall listening to some games on radio and I swear you'd think the whiners never commit any penalties and that there's a foul against the whiners on every play. Even when you see whiner thugs committing unnecessary roughness penalties, the droogies say they didn't see much there. Not sure if it's Greg Papa and some other whiner homer but it's nauseating at times.

That's such an awkward conversation, lmao.

Not sure where I saw it but Purdy and Garapollo's whiner stats are nearly identical for the same number of games they've played.

The difference is that Jimmy Gag didn't have mccaffrey.

My hate for the whiners runs deep. In no particular order:

I still would never wear any red and gold combination.

I always pick the opposing team for their games. (as do many of us)

I hated that in 1985 they were declared in the sports page of the local newspaper "Hawaii's team" after some ridiculous voting system.

I've always disliked the song "I Left My Heart in San Francisco."

I'd get worked up during their games vs us, and since they aren't worth any potential health issues have dialed it down a few notches.

I would cheer for the AFC in Pro Bowls if several whiners were in it. And obviously always AFC in the Super Bowl.

If they were ever to represent America vs a foreign team I would always pick the foreigners. (Russia, Iran, etc)

I wanted to hurl flying poo (or worse!) into their stands whenever I saw that sign that said "minor 49er club."

Back in the day I used to yell at the TV "Shut the F@&# up" and raise a middle finger whenever I heard their fans cheer.

I couldn't stand that loser whiner fan playing the banjo in the stands at Candlestink back in the day.

I never liked that song Oh My Darling Clementine partly because it mentions forty niner in the first verse.

Anyone who likes them or wears their gear is automatically a despicable enemy.

None of their fans were around until 1981 when they started getting good. I always called them the definition of bandwagoners.

I used to like Huey Lewis and the News in the 80's until I found out they were whiner fans.

Thought he was okay at first, but later disliked the singer Barry Manilow for his resemblance to Joe Montana.

After the Norton endzone boxing incident I hated him ever since, even when he was coaching D on Seattle. (I liked his father though.)

Having liked him in the early ESPN days, I later couldn't stand watching Chris Berman when I found out he was a 9er homer.

I always hated when the announcers would glorify the whiners in telecasts. I would say "Oh shut the hell up" and turn down the volume.

I hated whenever I watched an 80's whiner game when the announcers always brought up "he scripted the first 17 plays" for Bill Walsh and "that high knee action" for Roger Craig. I would yell "Bust up that g-damn script!! Make him throw down his clipboard!!!" or "hit him in the knees then!!!"

It’s the fans that makes me most despise the 69ers. Whiny little bitches. But players like Dweebo, Dre Outlaw, Ugly Gronk, Bozo add fuel to the fire. Then you have players I used to respect like Trent Williams and Fred Warner who have turned to the dark side and will now forever have that 69er stink.

The Niners just signed Jason Varrett. . They’ve had recent injuries to some of their depth players.

Varrett hasn’t played since 2021. If he has to be counted on to play in the Super Bowl, then I believe it will be a disaster. Maybe they just want to get him a ring.

It is a copycat league after all!

You sure? I can definitely do the Seahags and Cheatriots as well. They would be similar posts, but...never stopped me before, has it?

I want every 49er player to be listed as doubtful with severe hemorrhoids.

Not just this week.

Every week.

From now on.
