OK, the selection is ready. Sorry about the slight delay, I'm actually at work at the moment making researching draft prospects in a discrete manner quite the challenge.

So after having drafted a new weapon at WR in the first round, the Vikings are set for their skill positions on offense, but they could do with some assistance on the O-line. There were some nice upgrades through FA in Alex Boone and Andre Smith, but we do not want to stop there, as further changes are needed to improve what was one of the worst pass-blocking units in the NFL last year. Therefore;

With the 86th pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings select:

With the 87th pick in the 2016 NFL draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers select...

Hassan Ridgeway, NT, Texas



The Steelers really could use a nose tackle after losing Steve McLendon to the Jets in free agency. With their 3rd round pick, they take Hassan Ridgeway, a very athletic tackle with ridiculous upside. Ridgeway is a monster of a man with terrific power and a hell of a bull rush. His size and strength gives him the ability to be a 2-gapper in our defense, taking up blockers and pushing the pocket, freeing up fellow linemen Cameron Heyward, Stephon Tuitt, Robert Nkemdiche and company to do some serious damage. On passing downs, Ridgeway shows the athleticism to penetrate into the backfield with lightning quick closing speed and apply pressure on the QB. With some development in this area, particularly his technique, Ridgeway will be a nightmare to defend. He's a first round talent who fell because he has conditioning and durability issues. In the Steelers organization, you don't have a choice but to work hard, so Ridgeway will quickly be whipped into shape and become a dominant force in our front seven. We are building a physical and athletic defense, so that we can win big on both sides of the ball.

Had him as my 37th overall rated prospect. You turn on his Oklahoma St. tape, and he's just winning every single snap. It's unbelievable. Like I said, he has some inconsistency issues, but those should easily be fixed in Pittsburgh. His overall talent is too much to ignore. He was my sleeper.
