If you cant see him thrown into a starting spot, then you shouldn't consider him a good depth signing.
With rare exception, I team would be screwed at a position with a back up player having to start the majority of a season at a position.
I was never a big Humphries fan while he was in Arizona.
As to why KC let him.....well, they have a lot of big salaries to pay. Also, with all players, like Kupp, it comes down to value vs salary.
I don't like him as a starter for this team, but, as a guy who can come in a start a few games if needed, yes, it makes sense to me.
I'm ok with the spot starts if needed by anyone including Humphries but definitely don't see him as a long term swing solution. Apparently the Rams see it the same hence the 1 year deal. Reason I keep saying meh signing is because depth is good to have but to me, the key is to stay as healthy as possible along the offensive line, starter wise, so our offense can function at its best due to continuity. Kinda sucks that the news of signing him was spurred on by Jackson's medical issue. Gonna be interesting to see if the Rams waive one of those OT when Jackson comes back.

Some goofy takes complaining about (or not appreciating) this signing. Another available option for cheap. See who’s best and ready to take that backup OT spot. Nothing but good vibes here.

As if there is an abundance of better available options out there for OT.
I wouldn't say complain or appreciate just meh to me. I get it but hate that this coincides with an injury to a starter. Agree that the pickings are definitely slim this time of year. Hope Humphries exceeds my expectations by a mile.

Sure, move on, sounds good. but, of course he was signed as a backup. That goes without saying. Did you not understand that? Did you think he was signed to play ahead of Jackson or Havenstein? Really?

I’m not so sure about that.

I just read an article (CBS Sports) that stated AJ might be dealing with blood clots again.
I don’t know where that story came from because I haven’t read anything about it until today. It would certainly explain why the Rams suddenly pivoted to signing Humphries after they already signed Quessenbery.

Sounds like the Rams are now thinking they need BOTH a starter and a backup at LT—if AJ can’t go.

I would think that’s exactly where the Rams’ heads are right now. They are probably crossing their fingers, hoping AJ isn’t going to suffer a season long issue.
