He has been a Pro Bowl player.
He is much better than the backup T signed from Minnesota.
He is coming off a knee injury which is probably why his signing with SF was not finalized.
His experience and history of high level play provides great benefit even if he has lost some physically.
He knows how to prepare, he's stared 100 games or so and been a Pro Bowler. He has seen everything and is an excellent depth signing.
Zero risk signing.
If his knee is shot you can just move on.
If not, he provides fantastic improvement for depth at T.

Because they were going to sign vet T depth.
I think the team has learned from rolling just inexperienced green players at depth on the OL....cause if more than one injury occurs, the lack of experience really exposes the offense.
The team may have young guys they like and have a few year window on developing those players.
But, for a win now approach I like it.
That said, his play may have devolved to the point he doesn't make the team either.

This. Stafford doesn’t have time for a rookie to get up to speed. That could take a season or two.
And the Jackson news is why this was a great move. Just imagine how panicked you’d be if Acuri was the only option.

My question to those saying he was a pro bowl player is why did KC let him walk then? He couldn't beat out a back up guard on their team for the tackle position last year. Is he solid depth? Sure, maybe. My concern is if he's thrown into a starting spot. I just don't see it there. I also get the pickings are slim this time of year hence why I keep saying I view it as a meh signing until proven otherwise.

I wouldn't call it great but more so necessary since we are probably going to be without Jackson for some time which really sucks. Acuri starting would definitely cause way more panic than Humphries based on how Acuri did last year. As someone said earlier, kinda makes one wonder why we didn't try to add depth during the draft or even FA. Never a good sign when a team has to start backups.

He had an ACL tear and is an older player. They probably saw the writing on the wall. Doesn't mean he can't get back to form, but he did have a showing as a backup a couple of times in 24' and didn't look great. But that was coming off an injury. Maybe he can get back to form, I'm sure the rams will be giving him ample opportunities in training camp.

If you cant see him thrown into a starting spot, then you shouldn't consider him a good depth signing.
With rare exception, I team would be screwed at a position with a back up player having to start the majority of a season at a position.
I was never a big Humphries fan while he was in Arizona.
As to why KC let him.....well, they have a lot of big salaries to pay. Also, with all players, like Kupp, it comes down to value vs salary.
I don't like him as a starter for this team, but, as a guy who can come in a start a few games if needed, yes, it makes sense to me.

If he cant round back into form, the Rams can always release him.
Its a low risk signing.
If he can get back to 75% of his top form then he is a massive upgrade at any of the depth T spots.

Glad we picked him up. We wouldn’t have if he isn’t at least a slight upgrade to the roster. I view him as a little insurance in case someone better doesn’t shake loose at roster cut time. Champions make little moves like this too.

Yes he definitely get opportunities since we have a huge need now due to the unfortunate news with Jackson. I don't personally see him being that good of a player but not like there's tons to pick from at this time of year. I honestly hope I'm completely wrong on my assumption about him and that he plays lights out cuz we need to keep Stafford upright.
