Pretty sure I read that Hill's contract for the Rams will be low, like $1.5M as well. So the Stains will be paying most of that second year contract if true.

DC Morris was soon to be looking at a corner room stocked full of inexperienced.....
Yeah it was very smart to bring back a versatile vet like him who knows the roles.

That said I fully expect Durant to quickly win the slot job and not look back. It's been a long time since we had a ballhawk in the slot. This guy gets his head around and plays the ball so I cannot wait to see him in this secondary. :part:

That's my understanding as well.

FWIW I also want to communicate that I thought David Long did improve after his benching as he came back against the Cardinals when many were hit by COVID and after that game did seem to improve and gain confidence. Long had a big Interception against Arizona for a TD in the playoff game and again I felt did improve his game.

Overall I like Durant quite a bit, I believe he'll be on the field more often then not plus Rochell & now Troy Hill, it will make DB Coach Jonathan Cooley sleep well at night, even though Chris Shula will probably get most of the credit.

Long's biggest play for the Rams came in the last play of the superbowl. Changing receivers mid play stopped an easy 1st down and forced Burrow to hold onto the ball, which allowed AD to do his thing.

Looks like he finally gets it.

Yea he was up and down last year but still played his best football. He hasn't been very good overall but he's still super young, just turned 24. He was young and raw when drafted. Hopefully next year he hits a new level, but glad we keep bringing in competition at CB. It's not a position in todays NFL you can afford to be bad at.

Former Cleveland Browns cornerback Troy Hill is not happy with his former team.

Troy Hill was traded to the Los Angles Rams during the NFL Draft, going there from the Cleveland Browns. Hill spent just one season with the Browns, after signing a two-year deal worth $9 million. Since the trade, Hill has admitted he doesn’t feel great about it.

"I feel disrespected," Troy Hill told LA Times. "Definitely motivated to come out and show what I can do. Definitely plan to come out and play with a chip on my shoulder, for sure.”

Cleveland opted to draft a cornerback in the NFL Draft, making Martin Emerson a member of the team. This signified that something was going to change in the defensive backfield.

The first year without Hill on the team, Los Angles Rams went on to win the Super Bowl. That too is leaving a sour taste for Hill.

“…because it was like it's always that could've, should've, would've type of thing,” Hill said looking back.

The 30-year-old corner made it seem like he regretted signing with Cleveland. There’s a chance he could have stayed in Los Angeles the entire time, but his bank account wouldn’t be as large.

“When I was in Cleveland, I always found myself trying to compare things to how it was done over here in L.A.," Hill said. "I don't know if it was me just trying to compare as far as this is what a winning program, or if was just missing everything that was happening over here."

Troy Hill is going to fit in Amazingly with The Rams.

Dude has already come in & started working hard.He is going to take over more of a leadership role if for nothing else his ethic of being a Pro.

I’ve watched Troy when he was just a practice squad guy.He really improved his game. He is such a solid tackler & helps support the run.

For those that think Deebo is going to run against this 2022 Ram defense has another thing coming.Bobby Wager as well will really shut down running games.

David Long still has trouble coming up & making that play consistently. He doesn’t read & react as well as he could & doesn’t take the best angle.

Great depth at CB now... but wondering who steps up to replace Williams as the #2 CB.

Long, Rochell, Hill, Durant, or (maybe) Mathieu?

IMO Troy Hill is such a better fit than h. Badger. I’d take him all day long right now.I think Hill is still an ascending player.
He will make the DB group a lot better. He actually made it easier for them. Was totally missed last season.

Hill (and JJ to a lesser degree) really unlocked our secondary versatility in 2020 and allowed us to maximize Ramsey's usage in both Star and outside. Hill can play inside and outside and most likely immediately becomes the starter on the outside in 2 WR sets and starter at nickel in 3 WR sets with Rochelle or Long competing for outside play time.

If you think Rochelle still needs some seasoning (and he needs plenty IMO), this is a great way to protect him as he continues to learn the pro game.

Savvy move.

I see it the same way, with the exception of Hill & Long being able to interchange.
It looks like The Rams will play a lot more Nickle & dime sets. Bobby Wagner & Ernest Jones being in the middle.

They overpaid. The league shouldn't even give him draft picks because he just gives them away to other teams.

Totally false , The Rams have been in top 5 the last 5 years with draft picks./- just no 1st rd picks the last 7.

Rough for guys like Troy Hill, Brockers (9 seasons), Malcolm Brown (6 seasons) played so long with us, but moved on right before our Superbowl.

Brown was plagued by quadriceps injury, hard to say if that happens here, but Brown could have filled the Sony role.

Now that Nick Foles has been released, I wonder what his price would be as a reserve Rams QB ?

He's got to be better than what we currently have.

Yeah - ok.

When was the last time Foles was a Ram & who he played for ? How did Nick Foles career as a Ram almost end.

Don’t think he will be resurrected in LA?

Den the coach you’ve been a fan of Cooley. Do You think he was more meaningful to keep than Evero?
I like Shula coaching the DB’s in addition to Lance Shulters.
This new LBer coach should bring a lot to the table from the original Denver D” Staley brought 2 years ago.

I know the Vikings and Kevin O'Connell wanted to bring Jonathan Cooley with them and the Rams blocked it. Apparently it was Jonathan Cooley's scheme that was adopted late in the season that improved the secondary, thus why the Rams wanted to keep him. Good move for Chris Shula, but IMO, more of a move to diversify his resume, but I always liked Lance Shulters and believe he can help the Safeties. IMO, Jonathan Cooley is a coach on the rise and although the Rams have lost two quality secondary coaches in the last two years in Aubrey Pleasant & Ejiro Evero, IMO, the Rams are still in good shape on the back end.

Beautiful sarcasm -

Thought there was a funny contrast to The Rams not having first round picks. In the history of the NFL there is only HC other then Mcvay who have had as many or more than him.

Relations of George Allen & Joe Gibbs being the Redskins & Rams both from the organization Mcvay has been apart of.More the lather of the skins.

I always can’t stop & think what George Allen would have done for
CSULB if he hadn’t died. Now even typing this I wonder how life changing that might have been for myself.

Thanks for the lol
