Yeah it was very smart to bring back a versatile vet like him who knows the roles.DC Morris was soon to be looking at a corner room stocked full of inexperienced.....
That's my understanding as well.Pretty sure I read that Hill's contract for the Rams will be low, like $1.5M as well. So the Stains will be paying most of that second year contract if true.

FWIW I also want to communicate that I thought David Long did improve after his benching as he came back against the Cardinals when many were hit by COVID and after that game did seem to improve and gain confidence. Long had a big Interception against Arizona for a TD in the playoff game and again I felt did improve his game.
Overall I like Durant quite a bit, I believe he'll be on the field more often then not plus Rochell & now Troy Hill, it will make DB Coach Jonathan Cooley sleep well at night, even though Chris Shula will probably get most of the credit.
Yea he was up and down last year but still played his best football. He hasn't been very good overall but he's still super young, just turned 24. He was young and raw when drafted. Hopefully next year he hits a new level, but glad we keep bringing in competition at CB. It's not a position in todays NFL you can afford to be bad at.Long's biggest play for the Rams came in the last play of the superbowl. Changing receivers mid play stopped an easy 1st down and forced Burrow to hold onto the ball, which allowed AD to do his thing.
Looks like he finally gets it.

Great depth at CB now... but wondering who steps up to replace Williams as the #2 CB.
Long, Rochell, Hill, Durant, or (maybe) Mathieu?
Hill (and JJ to a lesser degree) really unlocked our secondary versatility in 2020 and allowed us to maximize Ramsey's usage in both Star and outside. Hill can play inside and outside and most likely immediately becomes the starter on the outside in 2 WR sets and starter at nickel in 3 WR sets with Rochelle or Long competing for outside play time.
If you think Rochelle still needs some seasoning (and he needs plenty IMO), this is a great way to protect him as he continues to learn the pro game.
Savvy move.
They overpaid. The league shouldn't even give him draft picks because he just gives them away to other teams.
The first year without Hill on the team, Los Angles Rams went on to win the Super Bowl. That too is leaving a sour taste for Hill.
“…because it was like it's always that could've, should've, would've type of thing,” Hill said looking back.
Now that Nick Foles has been released, I wonder what his price would be as a reserve Rams QB ?
He's got to be better than what we currently have.

I know the Vikings and Kevin O'Connell wanted to bring Jonathan Cooley with them and the Rams blocked it. Apparently it was Jonathan Cooley's scheme that was adopted late in the season that improved the secondary, thus why the Rams wanted to keep him. Good move for Chris Shula, but IMO, more of a move to diversify his resume, but I always liked Lance Shulters and believe he can help the Safeties. IMO, Jonathan Cooley is a coach on the rise and although the Rams have lost two quality secondary coaches in the last two years in Aubrey Pleasant & Ejiro Evero, IMO, the Rams are still in good shape on the back end.Den the coach you’ve been a fan of Cooley. Do You think he was more meaningful to keep than Evero?
I like Shula coaching the DB’s in addition to Lance Shulters.
This new LBer coach should bring a lot to the table from the original Denver D” Staley brought 2 years ago.
Totally false , The Rams have been in top 5 the last 5 years with draft picks./- just no 1st rd picks the last 7.
