Most do not know how close the Rams came to getting Bill Walsh before he went to SF.
It could have been us. Could you imagine that defense with Bill Walsh on offense ?
You trying to hurt me?

What did I do to you to deserve this?

Yeah - let’s see what the NINER’s are buying. It seems every time The Rams want to use addition the Miners always buy it away & have more assets.
So Inguess it’s ok to continue to
LOSS to the 9ers since The Rams won a championship & have NEVER beaten the 9ers at SOFI except for the NFC championship game ?
Best LT,RB & Jimmy G would have been nice to have had. Don’t know the cost, but I’m happy for winning it all.

—To me I WILL BE PISSED if The Rams can’t improve greatly, which I believe they can..
Beat the Niners in the NFC Championship on the way to a Super Bowl Championship. Niners mortgaged their future for Trey Lance.

No CRAP!! Getting those 4 draft picks for their DC & OC was a JOKE!! WTF - those guys are what to the Rhonney rule?

What about Trent Williams & this RB Ed jr.? What was mortgaged?

Trading 1/2 those picks for Aaron Rodgers & trading Jimmy G was the way to go.

Why The F’’’’’ would you ever make that trade so early in the process. It could have never gotten more expensive.

I looked at Jalen Hurts & thought he was undervalued even if he wasn’t a solid QB.Like he said he is a football player.

I thought he was going to go later than he did,but was worth his value. He just wasn’t a position of need.

If your a team with extra draft picks you have a luxury of taking those high reward types of players. The risk is not all that much.

Thanks for posting that. The "finest organization in the National Football League?
Quote from Bill Freaking Walsh in 78 when the LA Rams had 6 NFC West titles in a row with no Super Bowls.
I know he really, really liked the Rams defensive backs.
"

How cool would have that been ?
The Rams went with John Robinson I believe, but not sure what year that interview was? 1978. Ronny Lott would have been a nice pick.

DidnSean Mcvay’s grandfather help hire Bill Walsh. The Rams use to dominat the 9ers. He helped change that, but The Rams were the best organization in The NFL.
Hacksaw leaving the rams after Charlie died made it sad.Georgia let NON football people take over the organization.

Ummmm, to say I disagree puts it mildly. Vermiel was a absolutely HORRIBLE coach. He was NOTHING without Martz. Together they were pretty good, real good.
Martz by himself could only last so long. Empty backfields and 7 step drops forced that issue.
And I never forgave him for letting go of Warner. Bulger was no Warner and if I knew it, Martz should have known it.
He should have just sat Kurt and let him heal and put up with the wife. Warner proved himself over and over after the Rams and you can not blame him for being a little bitter about it. He made the HOF after the Rams.
I had absolute trust in him. When he dropped back and planted his back foot and threw the ball in-time, something good always happened. Fearless.
Vermiel only got his job because our HAG of a owner pulled him out of retirement because she knew him. No one wanted the guy and the only reason he had success after the Rams in KC was because he took Martz's offense and his quarterback with him.
His offense was so bad in 98 that a guy who should not have even been in the NFL, June Henley was the Rams leading rusher. Because Dick liked him, he was a "try hard" guy. Get out.
Don't you remember him taking over the play calling that year ? I could guess the basic play over half the time that season just by the formation. Do you remember all the goal line tight formation, extra tackle JUMBO plays ? Tell your opponent what you are going to do and give it a whirl ?
We went from that garbage to goal line 3 wides where Kurt could throw it or hand it off to Faulk with actual room to get it done with ease.
Did you forget about the very near MUTINY in 98 ?? DV was awful.
The 99 season was a special one and the Rams had near dynasty right in front of them and screwed it up. Why ? Ownership was more loyal to their guys, the people they knew in charge rather than put real football people in charge like Carrol Rosenbloom had.

We have the right guy in McVay right now and the right owner and what I want is a modern day dynasty.
Thing is, McVays first SB was too much for him. He stayed in his basic offense, his game plan too long just like Martz did. I was hopping he would have come out at the half in the 2 minute, 2 TEs. Something to throw off BB and let him adjust but he didn't. We moved the ball a little at the end in the 2 minute and got that FG attempt but it was too late.
Luck plays a part in all of this. Goff gets that end zone shot off a split second earlier and the Rams could have won that game. (then no Stafford trade)
The Rams could very easily have lost last years SB too and the sellout was for a NFC Championship. We got it but are paying the price right now. Time will tell on all of this. And you know what, Goff might have some more Super Bowls in him they way he is playing right now. He is playing near textbook quarterback right now.
I want to see McVays prowess in the draft room for years and years,

Robinson is still the Rams coach with the most wins. He finally understood his student body right-left would only go so far.
Got Everett and Zampeze , traded Dickerson..................and blew the picks.
The moment of the trade, I remember it like my parents did JFK, the spot I was at when I heard it come over the radio. That is when I found out about John Shaw's existence. My disdain started there.
That O line was so good Greg Bell had a thousand yard season and Charles White had two and made All Pro one year.
If the Rams had the threat of Dickerson to go with Ellard and Flipper defenses would have had the ultimate pick your poison.
And the Niners might not have had so many rings.

My point is that, of course, it was worth it.

Does that mean this year is great? Of course not.

But making the moves they did and winning the Super Bowl was a massive success.

i agree with what you are saying but i wonder if we have four or five years of below five hundred how many posters won't think those trades were that great. anyway, i hope we are back to those winning ways next year and we make the play offs 4 out of 5 years than i will completely agree that those trade Were worth it.

No. The Rams replaced Chuck Knox with George Allen in 1978.

Allen didn't make it out of Pre-Season; and was replaced by Ray Malavasi.

Bill Walsh became the 49ers' head coach in 1979.

John Robinson did not come-on-board with the Rams until 1983.

When there was a press report that Georgia was impressed with Dieter Brock's biceps , well that was a bad sign for our future.

I still want to emphasize that if we concentrated on getting one or two OL in the top 4 rounds in either 2020 or 2021, we would not be going into next year hoping that our OL will be okay next year

Good talk.
But this is a Rams football board.

I’m much more excited about a team willing to take big swings. And I don’t bail on them when things get tough, like this year.

I guess that’s the difference… you’re a fan who can only stand good times.. to the point you’d rather not try to win a championship.

I’m all in on winning big. People remember championships… they’re what separate good from great.
What is posted on the internet lives forever.

I mean, the heights of arrogance you show is astounding.
YOU, tell me "you're a fan who can only stand good times" ?
Who do you think you are ? Trying to get into my head, well........... that is far above your ability.
See, I am actually the guy who loved the Rams so much that when they moved I paid 900$ for a DTV dish and put it on my roof myself. I have not missed a snap since and wore my LA RAMS t shirt once a week all though the 90s when they were the worst team in the NFL. We only got 1/2 the Rams games up here in The Real Nor Cal before DTV and I am a original, from the very start a DTV customer.
The only football memorabilia I have is a actual Rams practice ball from 92 with the "great" Robert Delpinio on it. Jerry Gray and Jackie Slater is on it too.
Actually, you are the one who seems to be a fair weather fan who only went all in once the Rams sold out and got the Super Bowl win. ALL my NFL Sundays revolve around the Rams no matter how good or bad they are.
The facts of the matter are, time will tell on the sellout. We are out of the playoffs this year and if we do not get back to deep playoff runs while Donald and Stafford are still playing its up for debate.
Your side of the argument sure hinges on what Goff does the rest of his career and right now he is playing as good as any QB in the NFL.

I wonder if Dieter hit that.
