I love it all the game and the gamesmanship.

I know there are people out there like you (and there's a large # of them) who get into the what I like to call the Drama of the sport. It's just not entertaining or enjoyable for me in any way. Especially the money side. It's a nasty business negotiating NFL contracts... things are done and said by both sides that are complete bullshit and lies.

I won't watch any of my wife's shows with her for this same reason. The drama that provides much entertainment for so many... it just bores me and causes me to completely tune out.

I guess the saga I don't enjoy, but the ending I do. Will he stay or will he go? Rams have some major decisions to make and if Stafford stays, one could surmise they will keep Alaric Jackson or if he goes, then maybe they draft a Tackle in the first round like Josh Simmons? So it's the final chapter I enjoy the most plus the pontification after the fact.

I love football.

I ignore and abhor contract posturing and negotiations.

I really hate the “play for peanuts” line. These dudes are making tens of millions of dollars. I wish that was enough for them.

Sure, I suppose it is about 'respect'..".I'm good so show me you know how good I am," but ffs don't act like you're living paycheck-to-paycheck guys.

The worst guy on the practice squad is a 1%er...

Wow. There’s a lot said in that tweet.
“We don’t want to have that go on again” and “I think there’s a lot of love coming from our part”
Really paints a picture of Stafford being the hold up and that last year was a bigger issue than was discussed.
This hopefully is settled asap
Yup. I also thought it was an interesting reveal.

Staffords cap hit is a gross underpay for him right now, he has all the leverage....this will probably end up modifying his contract to be 2 years 120 mil
If he is as smart as I think he is he will keep it to guaranteed money. His focus should be legacy and the team having cap space for maximum talent around him.

Drama queen.

With most of it guaranteed.

If he held out last year, and now the Rams have cap space, a team who wants to take one last shot....maybe he "settles" for $50 million, but I just think the way QB contracts have gone, we are in the single worst bargaining position of any team who has THAT level of QB who needs a new deal.

As long as we have McVay I am ok with a young QB. That said load it up around 9 and let's win Lombardi #3.

If they do move on from Stafford, or he moves on from us, load us the defense in the draft and FA, and let a young QB learn in a lower pressure situation. I'd be good with that.

Let's play this out... I mean we all expect Stafford to be back, probably for at least 2 years. However, what would the alternative look like?

Can you work out a trade and move him to a place he wants to be, just like the Lions did with him?

If so, which teams would want a short term answer at QB to put them over the top?

Pittsburgh?
Jets?
Raiders?
Saints?
Titans?
Colts?
Giants?

Would Stafford want to go to any of those teams since only one is a real playoff contender right now?

Let's say Pittsburgh is one that makes sense in terms of a team capable of winning and are willing to pay him top dollar. So what would we get in return? A 1st rounder? A 2nd & a 3rd rounder?

If we do that, we keep Jimmy as a stop gap and let's say we are able to land a guy like Dart by moving up to the top 15.

So we move some picks to move up for Dart, so really not many extra picks from the Stafford trade since we had to use a few to get a young QB.

Thus not a lot of ammo to improve the rest of the team in the draft. FA doesn't change much, in fact Jimmy's price tag goes up and still on the hook for much of Stafford's cap number. Now maybe you go all in on the rookie and get a cheap vet back up and pass on Jimmy.

So looking at it, it just makes too much sense to load up one more year, probably two, around Stafford and try to win a SB next year with him.

I know that I'm in the minority, but I'd am extremely curious to see what McVay could do with Zach Wilson. Another Sam Darnold type story with a better ending?
