There’s a reason after architecting the GSOT and winning with a “rookie” Warner that the guy can’t get a job as an offensive assistant in the league…

McShay's 3rd Mock just out has us taking Jordyn Tyson at 13. Giants get Jeremiah Love at 5 and Ty Simpson doesn't get Drafted in 1st.

Sounds realistic to me.

If I had to put odds on who we will take the top two would be Tyson and Lemon. And I get why they would roll the dice on Tyson. Even if I wouldn't.

Yeah, i went off about Tyson and his injuries last week. But if he passes McSnead's approval I would be stoked with this pick. We need a young Wide Receiver more than anything in this Draft.

Man, I could really see McVay moving up for Simpson if he fell to the 2nd. I don't exactly endorse it as we lack picks this year, but, I think he is well worth it.

Honestly, the closer it gets to the draft, I'm starting to actually believe they might go with a OT in the 1st. The OT depth is terrible after the 1st round TBH. McVay knows what happens if one of our OT's get hurt, and its one of the biggest issues we could face. If AJ goes out, our offense suffers greatly as does Staffords body. I would not be excited by it, but would completely understand it. There will be better WR's at 61 then there will be OT's

Definite possibility an OT in the 1st. And possibly paired with a trade-down.

Agreed. And even one of those two OT>OG conversion types (Maui & Fano) could potentially try OT this year in the swing role then move to Avila's spot when he leaves in FA. Or they could take Ioane.

They just don't normally prioritize OL early.

I think if you want LT it's rough because you have one guy who projects there (Freeling) and a bunch of RT types or OG conversions. The Bama kid is huge, but he's probably a RT.

I still figure if an X type is there at 13 they will take a long look at him. There are others slated later, but those guys tend to get snapped up earlier than expected due to supply/demand. But yeah I have no real gut feeling on this, it feels wide open. And even worse is I don't think there's a lot of separation in the dudes listed in the teens and twenties. Feels like one big fucking bucket to me.

Me too. I'm starting to think it's not gonna be a WR. To me, the WR class is deep, and there really seems to no consensus for who the top 5 are at this point.
Sadiq is still in play...but I'm starting to think OL might be the play...possibly along with a trade back with Pittsburgh.

They tend to try to to land a special talent when having a high pick. So could be any position really. And yeah, with a deep position a like WR they might wait on that position, unless they decide to, and are able to trade back.

I feel like Fano should at least give it a try at LT. He's sure seems to have the feet for LT. Worse case, he can still back up all 4 other positions. I'm just not sure I'd take someone this high unless they had the ability to back up AJ, who I'm most concerned with going out. Hell, Proctor played LT and could easily back up RT and both OG's. And he's mammoth with great athletic traits.

...has finally left the station

In the past 24 hours I've seen numerous segments about him...either being actually better than Mendoza, to being a 1st round talent, to many teams seeing him as a 1st round QB.

I know it's "that time of the year" and all, but...

Yeah I think Proctor may be a little slept on. Just from that perspective of how damn big he is, and he's a fit for us as a swing option. I think he makes sense for the Rams if they are planning on allowing McClendon to walk in FA.

OL really comes down to which of the 4 they plan on keeping. They probably keep 2 of them, meaning we pay 3 total on the OL including Jackson.

If it's me, I'd lock up McClendon provided he's not looking for stupid money at RT. Dudes I'd let go are Avila and Shelton. If that is the plan, then this deep OG class has answers to plug some depth ahead of time, or a starter early who can possibly upgrade us over Avila. Center has some good options in the usual round three range plus. And if they decide to address OG let's say round 5 and the dudes they like are off the board worst case it just means they have to address it next year. Though that's not ideal, and it would be nice to have added depth for this year's run as well.

Freeling I think is one of the dudes where it makes sense the Rams will say fuck it and take him if he's there. But in this class up top with all the short arms and injury flags in that upper group it's hard to imagine some team won't just take him based on his LT upside. He really is an ideal pick at 13 for LA because we need a swing OT for the 2026 season, and if they hit on him he can take LT and remove the blood clot concerns. It's just more likely the Mauigoas and Fanos of this class fall than Freeling being there, because OGs are well represented in this class and generally your OTs dominate the top of the order not OGs.

Ex GM Mike Tannenbaum says other teams share this opinion as well.
If that is true then it will affect the early order of round 1. Someone will move way up to take Simpson. Which is good for us, in that it might push a player the Rams really want down to a range they can move up for, or at the very least increase the likelihood of the player they want getting to them at 13.

Or if Simpson falls to 13... maybe Les can swing another mega deal like he did with the Falcons last year.

Every year multiple times a round we see evidence that teams/gm/coaches like or dislike players more than fans and pundits. And somehow we fans still get upset and can't believe that this happens. Is Simpson one of the many this draft? I can think of at least a dozen that I dislike that will likely go higher than I think they should.

It's a fun time of year.
