The Rams offense has not been overwhelming for the past few years...really since 2021.

The question is: Would the offense have been the same with Garropolo/Darnold/Rodgers/?? under center or would they have been simply abysmal and unwatchable?

I, personally, believe that the Rams' offensive "success" has been due more to McVay than any individual qb. Comparing McVay/Stafford to McVay/Other qb is comparing apples to oranges. He would adapt his scheme/playcalling to whatever qb he has under center and would succeed. IMHO.
I think the QB matters a ton. But I also actually think that Aaron Rodgers is just as good if not slightly better than Stafford. And if it costs less overall I'd make the switch.

Schrager's an interesting one, he never shares enough detailed info that he can be proven wrong with the Rams and only enough info to be vaguely right.

God, I hope we don't go with Rodgers. Van Pelt though was his QB coach in GB, no? I don't see how he and McVay coexist without someone like that.
Fuck no to the whole idea of bringing in ARod. From a culture standpoint I can't imagine they'd even consider it.

Given everything we've heard with the Rams wanting their money tied up in the core long term, I'm getting more and more okay with the idea of Aaron Rodgers for 2 years and less money.

I mean, would you do it for a 2nd rounder this year and a 4th rounder in 2026 that could turn 3rd if the team that gets him makes the playoffs?
It would have to be the Giants 2nd rounder...not Pittsburgh's.

If Pittsburgh's 2nd, you would have to get another pick this year and a 3rd next year that could elevate to a 2nd.

How about he comes out and says that not everybody talking is saying what he feels or thinks. How about telling his wife and agent to correct themselves. All we hear is from the wife and agent and he's not correcting them and they aren't retracting what they say. But we're supposed to believe that these two people close to him are lying he doesn't really want or think these things?

I get wanting to think the best of people but sometimes you just have to take the information you're given and believe it.
I don't quite understand this take, TBH.

What exactly has Kelly or his agent (Jim Sexton) said that is anywhere near specific? Maybe I missed something, but all I've seen is vague hints and rumors and speculation.

Earlier you mentioned the "rumor" about 3 years and 210Million... but that "rumor" was debunked as a ridiculous gag created out of thin air by a poster named BobCarl on a different fan forum.

And even if "actual" numbers were being floated out there, I don't understand why anyone would think of phrases like "they aren't lying" or "we should believe what they say." Negotiations are like poker. Bluffing isn't the same thing as "lying" , its just part of the game. When negotiating with a used car salesman, if he says "I can't come down anymore on the price" but then "talks to his manager" and returns with a better offer, does that mean he was "lying"?

Anyway, we'll all find out soon enough. But for me personally, I sure don't expect Matt Stafford to come out and say "just to clarify and combat some rumors out there, I'd be willing to settle for less to stay with the Rams."

It's the agent's job to try to drive a hard bargain, which involves rising tensions during the waiting game. And Matthew's job is to stay quiet and let his agent do the work.

If Pittsburgh, I would want our 5th back to fill that gap and you can still get a good player in that range at one of the drafts deeper positions.

Then like I said, a conditional pick that could easily elevate to a 2nd next year. That way if he plays well, two 2nds & a 5th isn't bad. If he plays like crap, or gets hurt, then a 2nd, 3rd, and 5th is damn good.

Stafford signed a 160 million contract in 2022. That contract had 120 mil in guarantees. That's not enough? I know QB's have gotten bigger contracts since but he signed it. Seems like he's trying to leverage the Rams and Snead doesn't play that game. If Stafford just wanted to play for championships it seems like he'd be fine with the money. I don't recall Brady doing anything like this.

That's cause Brady was consistently making bank from contracts the Patriots were signing his and Alex Gurrero's training company.

Still boils my blood. Just blatantly working around the cap.

You are forgetting that injuries have also played a very big part.

A good interview and worth the listen. Albert Breer sounds reasonable and plugged in. Gives a very plausible summary of what both sides might be thinking.
He essentially said a lot of what myself and others have said about why a trade is even being considered that some here want to be in denial about. I'll keep saying I rather it work in our favor but its going to be interesting (maybe not in a good way) to see how it goes down.

It's crazy how people forget how good the Rams offense was in 2023!

2023!

A lot of that was Stafford being on an absolute heater at times and making throws that no human not named Patrick Mahomes could make.

He was absolutely not as good last year especially at the end (think some of that was injury and us not having answers for man coverage but some absolutely on him and prob worst he's played as a Ram).

But I think people are gonna be in for a rude awakening when the holdover QB plays if Stafford moves on till we get our future QB in place.

ooooh buddy, you need to watch the Jets last year, at best one hopes their getting Rodgers at the end of the year there and he's still a shell of himself.

Gave it a listen as well.
No wild speculations or click bait statements.
He made it pretty clear that last year negotiation was a grind and was surely set up to do all over again this off season.

This was basically the gist of his column today too. Also, for any who want to pay for his stuff (or use a work around) he's got a pretty good bead on some draft hubbub too. Breer was one of the guys I suggested was legit in the other thread on reporters.
He said essentially same thing two weeks ago on Eisen's show or maybe it was Cowherd.
