I admit I'm just in such a pessimistic mood right now that I can't stand myself.

But what burns me is the last few years they've wanted to rely on players that have been in the organization for the last few years at OL, EDGE, CB, S and TE that haven't panned out. That's what burns me.

I'm good with the fact they aren't afraid to admit mistakes (every team makes them), correct them and move on.

Part of the reason I could never understand how Bobby Evans managed to keep a job for so long.

Admit mistakes? They got rid of Goff, Gurley, Wagner, Cooks, and Woods, and now they are ready to dump Floyd, Allen Robinson, and Jalen Ramsey (apparently). And this AFTER signing these guys to huge contracts. In fact, the only guys that haven't cut yet are Donald, Stafford and Kupp, and they may all be gone next year! Not sure "mistakes" is the right word. Maybe a "re-direction"? Either way, it's hard to root for this team in the off-season when their key players are thrown away like old clothes. I am a diehard Ram fan but I would like to see some continuity along with some new additions (draft choices) once in awhile. I can't argue with the results, but it sure feels like McSnead has leveraged everything they had over the last 5 years and now they might have to pay the price. Time will tell. Go Rams!

I strongly disagree with cutting Floyd. He is an above average player at a position of huge need. We don't gain much cap room by cutting him. So, just keep him for this upcoming season, even if over paid, and move on the next year.

All of these proposed moves, ie trading Ramsey & Robinson along with cutting Floyd, have an astronomical Dead money Cap hit .... I count 49-Mil if all are traded and/or released Pre-June.
If I was Kroenke, with all of the speculation of certain individuals considering retirement or moving on, I would want to send a message that I don't want my team left in Salary Cap and have a good amount of future Draft capital wasted if they leave. However, this amount of Dead money doesn't help the situation.
Snead has mentioned that this offseason will be more of a "Remodel" than a rebuild. Well, it seems like they're going to rip down the roof and most of walls and leave 1 bearing wall in order to meet Code.

I think it's simple. Re-allocate resources to critical units like the offensive line to help Stafford and return this to a top 5 or even 10 offense. That will make them competitive.

More importantly they are changing the trajectory of their cap issues and cleaning that up to allow for a robust 24' offseason abd even the ability to spend money this offseason in the areas I mentioned above.

I look at it as a recalibration of sorts and an effort to add draft capital to lay a foundation with some future cornerstone players. Whether that means trading players and or moving up in the draft and getting as many top 100 picks as possible? Or taking a big swing to get a very coveted player in round one using a Ramsey trade and other draft capital to get that player.

In either case, they are fixing the cap, getting younger, and extending or trying lay the groundwork to open up a new window in 24' and beyond while being able to compete this yr.

The surprise was that The Rams spent a lot a CAP dollars on him.

You need a healthy body & he is now past his prime. Floyd Balled out!! He played hard & hurt.

Who do The Rams sign as a FA? Is it an Offensive Lineman? The Rams need a Tackle.Weather it is a FA, or the draft? Rob Havienstien is gone next season.
A Swing Tackle is a must imo.

Yawn so much panic over nothing. I prefer to wait and see what the roster looks like after the draft and free agency. Floyd isn't a pure given. If they wait until next year they clear $3M off the cap. In a trade, it depends upon how much the other team accepts of his existing contract. IMO Floyd was next year regardless. So if the Rams can get something for a 31 year old edge they should.

If they wait another year on Stafford then he can retire and the Rams can get $18M back on the cap. That more than pays for Mayfield. Jalen's trade depending upon the terms should not only clear their deficit cap but allow them to re-sign their priority FAs and pay their draft class. Bobby Wagner gives them money to sign Mayfield and IMO that was why he was released. I don't think it's a coincidence that Mayfield's dead cap is $4.8M and the Rams cleared $5M by releasing Bobby Wagner.

The Rams are obviously well into their reloading the roster mode. The other roster moves are to give Snead room to maneuver the roster during the off season. Every year it's like this. Just wait and see how the roster looks after the draft.

Rams fans want to do the same at TE (some do)
Nothing makes sense unless they're doing a full rebuild but it seems like only a partial one atm
