Ok. I’m going to say this once. And if another member wants to break this simple rule again, I will ensure you a time out.

Please read rule #6 thoroughly:

6. This is a fan friendly site. We respect the team, players, and coaches. We respect cities; St. Louis and Los Angeles. Any derogatory terms toward other members, members of the Rams organization, or cities will not be tolerated. There are clearly grey areas but the goal is to keep excessive negative comments away from quality discussions.

To make sure I don't get into trouble.....that is his thumb RamFan503, haha.

Boy I sure hope Troy and his family doesn't read this board. Can you imagine how you would feel if you knew how this whole fan base outside of your family feels about you as a Ram. I will trust the Rams coaching staff and front office on this one.
He shouldn't feel badly at all.
He is doing something at a level that no one commenting here can do, or ever could.
Dude is piecing together a longer than average NFL career, has a Super Bowl ring (as a starter on that team no less) and is making good money (compared to non NFL players) to do it.
He will have a lot of opportunities if he wants to coach, scout, commentate, write or whatever after he is done playing and if he wants to stay in football.
He shouldn't feel badly at all......although Im starting to feel badly about myself.

Hopefully Troy will take this criticism and prove us all wrong.

Me thinks Snead will have filed this away to be used against them in a future transaction.
Well, the Eagles supposedly liked Dylan McMahon. Their beat writers thought he would make their 53 last year. He was cut, but they apparently tried to get him to their practice squad, but Snead claimed him. So it happens.

Generally speaking I LOVE the decision making process of Snead and McVay, but I'm concerned they made a mistake with Lampkin. They shouldn't have relied on the "unwritten rule bro code" as the only protection against having Lampkin stolen.

It's even worse that it was the Eagles that poached him.... a smart organization that understands the value of a talented but undersized center.

McVay better watch out, cuz if Lampkin becomes a solid starting center in a couple years, I may have to resort to writing a disapproving post on a fan message board!!!:fire1::emergency:

Uhm, if I remember how Practice squads work.........any player on one can be signed by another team to their 53 man roster. So all this Lampkin stuff is strange, (unwritten rule etc).

Lampkin needs time to develop and it won't happen this year and maybe not next. Keeping him on the 53 man roster for the Rams would be stupid.

The practice squad is a great concept, but it is a crapshoot. The Eagles obviously wanted Lampkin enough to put him on their 53. None of this turns Lampkin into an instant star. With the Rams luck he would have progressed perfectly and a good team towards the end of the season signs him away.

McVay has already addressed all this.
Its a coach speaking so, cant be held to anything and things can change at anytime but, he said Shelton is coming in and will help with line calls, adjustments and continuity and Limmer still has a bright future with the team (paraphrasing).
I hope so. Would love to have kept Lampkin as depth to be developed further just in case Limmer becomes the starter down the line and gets hurt or, regresses for some reason. Obviously I'm rooting for Limmer to hopefully supplant Shelton.

Doesn't he have to stay on the 53 man roster for at least 3 weeks/games after being claimed?

.
I think so, but after that if he goes on the PS he can be claimed by another team. Will the Eagles be able to keep him on the roster all year?

And how do we know if the Rams were planning to put him on their PS?

The Lions kind of ran over the whole front. Blaming him is a little silly. He isn't my choice but, he isn't the reason for all the run defense failures.
The first 5 games - teams ran all over us. Then he gets hurt in the first half against the Raiders and in the second half and the rest of the season our defense slams shut the opposing teams run game in almost every game except Philadelphia. Coincidence?

I think that is the plan.
But, things often play out differently.
The number one guy I will be watching early this season is Avila. He was not good last year particularly in pass pro.
He was bailed out a lot (as the Rams OL often is as a whole) by Stafford quick release.
He is healthy now so hopefully he can get back on track.

Well the dust has settled on the Rams opening 2025 roster (could certainly be a couple tweaks over the next ten days) but this is it ... For Now.

I count 12 new faces, with four of them starters ... Adams, Shelton, Ford and Landman ... six of them rookies, including just one undrafted free agent.

Heavy on the O-Line (10), D-Line (7 ... counting Johnson) and at TE (4)
Lean at RB (3), LB/Edge (8) and DB (9)

Neither a young, nor old roster ... 7 starters are thirty or older, with Ford (8th starter) turning 30 in November but a lot of young depth.

Built to win right now ... it's a LONG season.
Should be fun. Hope so ... there's a lot more football behind me than in front of me ... maybe, I will take-a-nap.

So for Troy:

1) you are a great teammate
2) we value your experience especially on STs
3) you always give 100%

However this forum wants a top 5 defense and iLB has been a huge void for a very long time.
