I have selective hearing. Just ask the wife. But I thought I heard a lot of talk about how good Quesenberry was playing in the preseason.

He’s solid, no doubt. I would like to see him stick.
The problem is all of those young, cheap contracts showing promise. They represent the future.

I know the Rams are in a win now mode, as they should be with Father Time chasing down Stafford, but they’re not gonna be stupid and help competing teams stock their rosters with our cuts.

I suppose it comes down to who they think they can stash on the PS. Man, there’s gonna be some tough choices.

I think they are in win now mode always as it's just not in McVay's DNA to lose ONE game even if it meant getting the first pick in the draft.

However, I think their 1B priority is to stock up draft picks to get their next franchise quarterback.

That's why I'm sticking to my guns that Corum might get traded away.
Not giving away for nothing but I think if they're offered a second or third they would go for it.

If Alaric Jackson is ready to go, I don't think Leveston or Quessenberry make the final cut.

While doubtful, I'm hoping that the team can obtain another EDGE via the waiver claim process.

Why an edge? Because Keir Thomas is injured?

My take is that we'll lose some OL guys to waivers in an attempt to stash them on the practice squad. A rather weird result of having a GM who is just too good at evaluating talent, better than his peers. It sucks for us as fans, but the system results in the parity we all enjoy.

Soul- I haven't mentioned this before, but I just don't see McVay having the patience or interest in onboarding a highly drafted rook QB. While I'd like them to, for cap reasons, I just don't think it's in the front office's DNA to create a formula that results in a couple of years of growing pains before a SB is in sight. I predict (and I'm just a fan!) we will couple our draft pick capital in a trade for an established qb (along the lines of a Burrow, as one example). Nothing about how our upper-management runs this organization appears to me they are willing to "be patient" with a rook. They always appear to fighting for championships year after year and as a fan, I have grown to love it and trust them. Just one guy's take.

Again could be, I just dont think you can evaluate the other positions groups fairly behind an Oline that is there just to fill out a roster as is being intimated.

I have to imagine there may still be players needing assessments but maybe not

They're playing JV offense in the preseason, you can absolutely do that especially in this game.

I expect a lot of stick, mesh, 4 verts and Y shallow, skinny, dagger with the offensive line blocking inside and outside zone, duo, and basic 5 man protections with shifts to either side. This is not hard, everyone will know these things.

They're basically looking at special teams play, effort and being assignment sound here from the guys they still want to see.

Howdy Doody could come in and play and they'd still get a fine look at the guys they want to see.

I forgot this was the time of year fans overrate PS guys thinking they'll get snapped up by another team that doesn't give a rats ass about a guy who showed for a play or two and doesn't fit their system.

Data per PFF Snaps by Position:

The interior starters in both preseason games are Bowles, LG, Limmer, C, and Dedich, RG.

It appears Dedich is fully crosstrained at both guard positions. In 2024, he only had snaps at LG in preseason and the regular season. Now they have him at RG and are slowly working him in at Center. He's had 9 snaps at Center in both preseason games this year. It's pretty clear that they're very high on Dedich.

Quessenberry is only an OT. The last time he took interior snaps was one game at RG in 2022 with Buffalo.

Leveston has only gotten snaps at LT in preseason games. Everyone says he has positional flexibility, but so far the coaches haven't given him that opportunity.
 
My takeaways: Dedich and Limmer have for sure made the team. Possibly Bowles has too. Leveston hasn't. It's a maybe on Quessenberry.

He got to a SB with Goff in their 2nd year together
No reason to think McVay cant win with a young QB

Yeah, all you have to do is watch other preseason games and realize other teams also have intriguing rookies who are on their roster bubbles. We are not the only team with players worth developing who may not make the 53. Plus, teams for the most part prefer to keep their own since they know their system.

All true. But with the increasing amount of former Rams coaches and personnel people scattered about the league it's probably more likely to occur.

I have taken a step back to a degree on my position after many having the same thought process as you just described.
I really didn't think the 3rd pre season game would so quickly become almost unneeded.

I have seen zeros, penny's, double exits and overloads......... Teams seem to be more willing to run exotics in PS than they used to.

I wasn't concerned about what our O does but what the opposing D does and Cleveland is an enigma and reports are up to 30 plays by the first team

Second era that we're now in.. building a sustainable roster to be able to compete for a Super Bowl for multiple years. The key is going to be hitting on the QB they draft with their extra capital.

Second era that we're now in.. building a sustainable roster to be able to compete for a Super Bowl for multiple years. The key is going to be hitting on the QB they draft with their extra capital.

McVay's not going anywhere anytime soon.. and it's gonna be fun.

It's funny, obviously Matt came in and got us a Superbowl but truly it always seemed like we were in the Aaron Donald window for a long time. Everything McVay did since he had gotten here was about maximizing things around Donald to win a Superbowl.

He was one of the top 5 players every year in the NFL that he played.

And now we're on to the next phase that has to be more sustainable when you don't have that kind of guy.

Verse, Young, Stewart, Jackson are locks I think....Id keep Hampton until Thomas is back, then bring Thomas on the roster. I wouldn't trade for an Edge but if one is cut the Rams like, sure, why not?
