So the exception becomes the rule?
I Don’t think the idea of Staley ever being our DC again is necessary. The OP is suggesting once he gets canned that we should be so quick to hire him again as if he is better then what we currently got. And my Vance jab was because if a team is in need of a DC after this season it will be the Broncos who gave up a 70…

Yea I think Staley really screwed the pooch for going for it on 4th down. Vikings had zero timeouts.

But it shows just how much Staley doesnt trust his defense.

Sad.

Staley was very good in his one and only year as a DC, as a head coach his defenses have been middle of the road. Maybe he isn’t cut out to be a head coach, hell, we’re not even sure he’s cut out to be a DC.
It’s weird, Raheem is well liked and respected by coaches but hated by some of the fan base. It’s rumored that Raheem will get HC interviews this cycle so maybe the rams will be in the market, otherwise nah.
Raheem is a good DC. But if the defense is good this year, he'll almost certainly get a HC job. If it's not good this year, well, I'd bring Staley back.

I was very bitter when he left after one year. I figured he would try to finish what he started here. I can't blame him for wanting the Chargers job, but the guy was inexperienced and would have benefited from some more time under McVay in this organization.

I'm confused, the OP was calling for Staley to be fired quite emphatically the first half of 2020... that defense tightened things up, and ended up being tops by end of season, and now Staley is a genius? Pleasant was a DB coach on that 2020 team... was it not him telling Staley what to do that caused the defense to play better? I mean, since we're making assumptions and passing them off as facts like the OP loves to do with almost every post he makes. Since apparently Pleasant came back to the Rams this offseason, walked into the building, and bitch slapped Morris telling him he's in charge now and that's why the defense has been better... seems like we should just make the assumption that Pleasant did the same thing to Staley. Seems like Pleasant should just be DC.

Of course, I was saying Pleasant should have gotten a chance back when Staley left so if that happens after this season I'm ok with that because I think he's a great coach but this weird obsession with making up stuff to try and belittle one coach while holding another up who is a subordinate is just weird.

The Chargers have 5 RB on the roster.. they had no need for Akers

YOU’d make a GREAT GM dude!

Chargers against the Vikings who have an awful D”Line only
Had THIRTY YARDS!!!

Josha Kelly is HORRIBLE!!! He won’t make The Rams roster.

They can have a HUNDRED RB’s

Cam Akers will be a FORCE in The NFL before his career is done.IMO - I also thought he would have 1,200 yards rush in 2023. Kyren Williams is some what of a surprise. He is an All Purpose RB because he can do everything well & makes it harder for the defense to read.

Staley was a phenomenal DC for us. We had the #1 defense in the NFL with him as DC.

Troy Reeder is back . Yeah - he was the MLB for the Superbowl as well. F- Staley- he can eat my footballs!

Yeah - Fourth & 1 on his on 24 yard line. His Charger Defense made an Excellent Goal Line stance.

1.51 left in the game & Vikings have No Timeouts!! GENIUS Brandon Staley goes for it.
—Chargers won there first game of the season.

IMO - he can EAT FOOTBALLS & DON’T want him as a Rams coach. Don’t see him back as a Ram coach.

Even if Staley gets fired, and I think things are looking bad for him right now, I don't see a reunion.
I just think that he'll want to go somewhere else to get a reset. Maybe I'm wrong.

And I think that if the young Rams D plays anywhere near the level it has the first two weeks or, somehow, keeps improving.. Morris finally gets his HC job.
Yeah great resume by Staley.
He sure stays in ONE PLACE long.

Don’t even want to put Raheem up against him , but just Chris Beake & his NFL career.I’ll give Staley credit for how Lucky & Fast he moved up.

If Raheem gets a HC job, then Staley would be a good choice for DC because god knows he'll NEVER get another HC gig after the disaster he's been with the Chargers

None of this is a response to what I said. I didn't say hire Staley to be our HC.

Yeah, that’s the thing.
If it’s any other team offering the job, he stays our DC.

However.
Nobody would pass up a HC job, when you have a QB like Herbert on the squad. Nor should they.
Most HC jobs are open because the team doesn’t have a QB.
That Chargers job was, and still is, a prime position.

Regarding Staley's decision to try and put-the-game-away by going-for-it on 4th-and-1 from the Chargers' 24-yard-line, with just under two minutes to play (Chargers were stopped, and MN took-over but failed to score), Boomer Esiason said on his morning show today that all five guys on their CBS set (Bill Cowher, Phil Simms, Nate Burleson and James Brown) all agreed that the DECISION to go for it was a "fire-able offense".

Esiason also speculated whether Staley might have been fired after the game, had MN scored.

I don't know about that but I was watching live; and could not believe the Chargers were going for it.

It could happen but I can't see cheap ass Spanos firing a guy in season if he still has to pay him. I honestly wonder if the GM could be on trouble too.

Yeah - he is Horrible as a HC.Good luck to him.

The Rams were a stepping stone for him.It was probably Jalen Ramsey best season as a NFL player. If you look at the 3 TD’s Troy Hill had & the rookie season
Jordan Fuller had made big differences in the backend.John Johnson played out of his mind in a contract year.
Once again Troy Reeder was 3rd in tackles.
The best thing Staley did was let Evero & Pleasant do there thing & sat TAYLOR RAPP.

—Raheem Morris isn’t a fan of,but in his defense The STATS don’t lie & yes Brandon Staley had the number 1 defense. You have to give those Ram Players credit though.
I like the fact JJ43 & Troy Reeder are both Rams if nothing else, for there mentor & leadership.

Go Rams - thanks Jrry

Like you never have ??

I’m sure I’m older & have been more pure. There’s 3 fingers pointing back to cam come down & one pointing up.

In reality BRANDON STALEY is a HORRIBLE HC. I’ve been to the Chargers training camps.

BUBBARAM - you & your memes can clarify how bad STALEY’s practices are run & The Differences of THE RAMS EXPERIENCES are ?

4th & 1 at your own 24 is DUMB FOOTBALL. Staley got away from it,but missing the Playoffs because of his Dumb coach as a HC lossing to the raiders is just another example.

5 RB’s lmao - 30 yards on the ground. Great offense.
