I too would be very happy with the pick of Campbell at 26 but there also appears to be a glaring need at CB at the moment.

If the Rams end up prioritizing ILB in the draft then I'd like them to slide down and take Chris Paul. I think his combination of mobility, short area quickness, and run stopping would greatly benefit our defense. Though taking Campbell at 26 would be fine too. I just think Paul is going to be exceptional in the NFL.

If the TEs are picked over by the time 26 comes around and slot is the priority I'd like them to slide down and take Restrepo, who would round out our WR room perfectly with a shifty underneath weapon who is very hard to stop. Then they can circle back and hit TE in round 3.

If the Rams prioritize a young QB then I'd like them to take Dart at 26. It would suck from the weapon point of view to not use that pick to juice things for Stafford, but I understand that Stafford is probably gone next year. So prioritizing a guy who fits with McVay might be more important than we realize. If that is the case and Dart's off the board (which is feeling likely right now) then Shough is a possibility but at that point I'd favor a move down to accrue another pick and go get McCord later. Though I would not be against Shough, just very concerned since he seems fragile.

Re: players you just take if they're on the board at 26: S Starks. RB Hampton. DL Nolen. Starks changes our defense and what they can do from disguise to diversity of calls. Hampton adds gamebreaking speed in form of a poor man's Gurley. Nolen makes our DL elite as a unit and deep with an ability to rotate and shut down top OL.

If McVay is thinking about a big and physical back, which is probably not the case, then drop down and take Skattebo. He is far more athletic and a better receiver than given credit for and he is hard to bring down. A secondary option is Martinez and there are others but I really like Skattebo in this offense.

I don't think CB will be strong at 26 and overall I am not a huge fan of this class. Hunter goes off top 5. Barron almost surely will be off the board by 26. So if they want to prioritize corner then drop down, add some draft value, and take their preferred option.

I think there is a real possibility that one of Barron, Will Johnson, Benjamin Morrison or Shavon Revelle will be available at 26. 3 are coming off injury (Barron excluded). Any 1 of these 4 has traits of a legit shutdown corner and most likely would be discussed as top 15 picks. If not for the injuries we probably don't get near any of them. A future stud CB1 growing with this defense would be outstanding. Or just ADD LB Jihaad Campbell from Bama. Similar traits to Micah Parsons coming out, I DID NOT say as good, just similar traits. He can rush the QB from just about anywhere. I'm also going with the premise that Jeanty, Hampton, Warren and Loveland are all gone by 26 also.

I keep coming back to Skattebo as a Rams target. One think McVay loves and talks about a lot when it comes to young players, is the love for the game and having that ‘Dawg’ in them. I would bet that Skattebo has more Dawg in him than anyone other draftable player. The only negative is when does cockiness and ego cross the line of being a Dawg. Would he fit the ‘we not me’ culture. Would he be content behind Kyren?

Well, he was on the Rams' Practice Squad; and is a former 5th round pick ... by the Browns.

Seriously though, Fields will be 26 before Training Camp; and has been in the NFL for 4 seasons. He was active for just about every game in 2022 and 2023, with a few starts. Outside of Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, Cleveland doesn't have much at off-ball-LB; and they moved-on.

It may be a little too optimistic to expect Fields to be anything more than a 4th LB / Special Teams guy.

I would love that as I think Skattebo will be a great pro.

I could see him moving into a Jake Hummel type role ..Special Teams and occasional LB in certain situations. (Like us leading major in the 4th)

The Davante Adams signing addresses a big need at WR. I think the Rams would like to move down and maybe pick up some extra draft capital at 26 but I don’t see teams moving up for that draft position. I think they have multiple needs. CB, WR, LB, OT TE so a Best player available approach will likely be the way to go. If they valued LB Campbell might be the best player on the board at 26 and his versatility could be a boost for the defense. I think the top TE’s go early but there’s some options available in the 3rd round. They need to find players early on who can help immediately and then find some depth options to develop for future roles. I’d love to see a CB, TE, OT, LB and a developmental WR in the draft.

The Rams don’t have enough ILBs to get through camp.
I’m not saying they have to draft 2-3 guys right away, but something/anything has to be done.

Agree. I've only seen a few Mock Drafts that have them trading up. Both were for Warren. They only had them moving up to the 20th position.

Actual needs

Starters:

ILB

Backups/to start next year:

T
WR

Depth needed:

ILB (a second one)
WR (a second one)

Potential starter upgrades:

CB
TE

Potential backup upgrades:

RB

We have four picks in the first four rounds, to use on five positions:

ILB, WR, T, CB and TE - knowing McVay and Snead, we will just ignore ILB and our first four picks will be (in whatever order) WR, T, CB and TE.

Then in the back four picks we go LB, LB, WR and RB.

S if we pick up an extra pick, which I'm assuming we will.

I think a receiving TE changes this offense the most.
I'm not so sure. I guess it really depends upon the player.

Given that the vast majority of the targets are going to be going to Puka & Adams, a TE that is an elite blocker who is an average receiver might do more for the offense, IMO. Especially if play action is going to be used quite a bit.
