PracticeHate a bad deal, but I'm really impressed at how quickly the Rams get out
My avatar gave me away didn't it I try to be so sly about it too hahaYou are a Trend-Setter. Don't think anyone would argue with that.
Yeah... they were mistaken too. But McVay is the coach and Snead is the GM. They're responsible for signing someone. That responsibility can't be delegated to the players.Kupp and Stafford were the ones who suggested bringing in ARob. Can't put the full blame on the staff.
Ok. So what NBA team went into the off-season and lost, what, basically the whole team as an equivalent, heading into the next?I wouldnt say "any sports team" when you clearly don't watch NBA or MLB much.
Of course in the NBA pairing cheap young players with stars is a winning model, so your premise is just wrong all the way around.
Those teams tanked their roster (equivalently) as the Rams this off-season? Percentage turn-over is maybe a way of saying it.The Philadelphia 76ers did it for multiple years and didn't even hide from it. Also the Houston Astros did it Baseball.
That was a great one...still laughing typing this!Haven’t you been paying attention? We just moved up SEVERAL spots in the 7th round!
They don't have the 15.7 taken out just yet which in turns makes the total 73.2. His contract still doesn't make sense since the final years are not in there. So maybe they don't even know what the details are yet?FWIW, spotrac shows the rams only have $57.5M of cap space in 2024. Maybe it’s not updated. Maybe they have something wrong elsewhere. But I don’t see ARob included in the $177m of current 2024 Ram amounts. shrug
2024 Los Angeles Rams Cap Table
The Los Angeles Rams 2024 salary cap table, including team cap space, dead cap figures, and complete breakdowns of player cap hits, salaries, and bonuses.www.spotrac.com
Edit: maybe the issue is that spotrac has the 2023 cap listed for 2024 and not the higher expect 2024 cap of 249. That seems like the difference.
Nope. Because EVERYBODY goes where the money is highest. It's a fact! Just look at Bobby Wagner! No. One would expect teams with more cap space in free agency to have more flexibility to sign free agents; and be in a better position to out-bid other teams because ... wait-for-it ... they have MORE money to offer.
Is that even debatable?
This is exactly why the thought of reloading to top form in 24 is highly unlikely, not enough available assets that fit, too many suitors with the same intent. It will likely take a couple of seasons to get where we all want us to beI'm no cap expert but two of the sites I just checked are projecting over a dozen teams to have more cap space than the Rams in 2024. I would also imagine those teams also have their high round draft choices as well.
So, the Rams won't be alone in having the ability to improve.
At this point, I'd be listening to trade offers for Kupp, Donald and Stafford as the 2023 season progresses.
Gonna be something to watch the transformation.
1 crap year is in the books with one more (2023) Damn near guarenteed.
Snead is gonna earned his money or likely see his ass fired if the 2024 produces a third crap season.
I hope we can keep McVay through the "low tide".
At the same time those that are arguing we're trying to suck, do we really think we can out-Houston the Texans or out-Chicago the Bears? So we should expect the teams with the most cap space to do the best this year? Should be some happy Bears, Panthers , Colts and Texan fans this year!!!
Not just the media...I watched fucking TJ Rubley start at QB 30 years ago.Media having a field day piling on the Rams for this one. Oh well, bring it on. It's a total purge, and I understand the why.... I am struggling to find the how as far as this team becoming relevant in the near future.
All true. And for the record I don't think anyone here believes either Snead or McVay are blameless. They missed big time on Robinson.Let's be real about what happened. Signing AR was a major mistake by McVay. It's McVay's and Snead's responsibility to understand whether a player they're signing to a $45m 3 year deal, with $30m or so guaranteed, will actually fit in the offense and be a significant plus for the team. AR didn't and wasn't.
Yep. This was a case of not even trying...All true. And for the record I don't think anyone here believes either Snead or McVay are blameless. They missed big time on Robinson.
Question here is whether they're right about him. Because to move him like they just did means they have zero belief in his ability to execute this offense. That was a straight salary dump cut/trade of a mistake signing. But are they right about him.
Again I would have preferred they build value in him and move him at the deadline. But obviously they think that is not likely, otherwise that's what they would have done. This was rushing his ass out the door with no concern for perhaps recouping more value. Very interesting and I hope they're right about him.
