There should be a couple good edge rushers and 3 or 4 really good corners at our pick.

Of the elite edge prospects, I reckon Turner and Verse will definitely be gone by our pick. Latu may fall due to injury concerns, while Robinson and Verse may well be in play.

Out of the top cornerbacks, it's hard to say in what order they will go but at least two of McKinstry, Wiggins, DeJean, Arnold, Lassiter and Mitchell should be available.

What’s our draft position after today’s result?

Edit: Looks like 19-24.

Either 19 or 20

We’ll know our final draft position after tonight’s games.
It's 20 right now, I think if TB wins it goes to 19.

Penix is a left handed Teddy Bridgewater at BEST.

He crumbled against Michigan, imagine him against Detroit, SF or Balt...

HARD PASS

To be fair Michigan had a historically top D with NFL D Coord and assistants.

I didn't like Washingtons game plan either, that's not how you would compete with Michigan, I'm surprised they went with it.

Both would fill a desperate need.
However, I still think LT and C should be our top priority.

We only gave up around 330 yds to Detroit.
I’m not saying we don’t need to be better on Defense, because we do.
I just think that protecting Stafford needs to be priority #1.

Just don't take him too early. Kid's very brave in the pocket. He's gonna be a pocket passer in the NFL. But I wouldn't touch him until round 2 range at the least due to his injuries. I think in that range though his skills and ability to hit deep passes endears him greatly to McVay. Question is does McVay jive with him in the whiteboard session.

Would not surprise me if the boss falls in love with one of these QBs who goes outside the top group.
I think high 2nd would still be a stretch but low 2nd intrigues me.

Roster needs.. imo.

An immediate *difference maker* at edge... screams FA.
An upgrade of size/speed at corners.. can do this in draft AND FA.
Another RB.. one bigger and more explosive than Williams.
Another DL.. preferably in the 6-4 300 range... a 5 tech.
Draft another edge.
A center and a tackle.. but not ones that need to be immediate starters.
Speed at ILB.
Speed at safety.
Kicker.
Backup QB
Definitely need another WR.
And probably another TE now.

At 20.. if there's a guy you absolutely cannot pass on because of talent level.. and this could be a player at multiple positions.. I get making the pick.

BUT

If there is not a special talent.. please.. PLEASE... trade back a bunch. Get another flood of cheap talent.. and spend big in FA on a difference maker at edge.. and maybe a really good corner as well.

Got to hope for a QB to drop, otherwise if there isnt a special talent available, why would a team want to trade up to their spot?
Not disagreeing with the idea in theory, just would be curious to look over the past couple years drafts and see what trade value a pick in the 20 range actually got

I suddenly hope you're cold and uncomfortable wherever you and Tutu are vacationing.
It was -5 degrees on my front porch this morning so mission accomplished. :laugh3:

I can see LT as well and I'm all for upgrading Jackson. He's adequate but wasn't good enough for a lot of yesterday. Center for sure we can upgrade but doesn't need to be one of the top 2 or 3 picks but it can be IMO. All this depends of course on free agency money and where we spend it.

Nothing I could predict.
Trades happen.. but you have to have a partner.
They can open enough money to sign an edge & corner.. and multiple less-expensive pieces.
Maybe a safety? Maybe a slight upgrade at ILB? Maybe another WR or RB?
But I like cheap, young talent.

Depending on how FA goes, I would not be shocked to see this team trade up for an impact player this year. With as many guys as they hit on in the draft last year and if they can have a strong FA class, I could see them trading draft capital that they may feel like they need less for an impact pass rusher or WR (WR because the top talent is silly this year).

Also, it will be interesting to see what gets us to "complimentary football" next year. It may not be just throwing a ton of resources at the D. It may be buttressing a stellar offense with a WR or LT and then goosing the defense into a middle of the road position with a few ancillary picks.
