Yeah, when a round equals 32 players, not all will obviously be blue chip players if you equate blue chip with first rd. Top 5 picks are certainly going to have more top quality traits and less questions than picks 28-32 will.
Of course but why not give them a blue chip grade instead of a 1st round grade? It just seems like 1st round grades should be more closely aligned with 32 since that's how many picks there are. And then create sub divisions within the 1st round grades?

It's a bit of semantics and I kind of doubt that's how teams are really doing things these days anyway but it seems like saying there's an average of 14-16 players with a 1st round caliber grade is a functional mislabeling.

I think a better term might be "certain" or "for sure" first rounder. So if there are 13 players considered to be certain 1st rounders, there could be 30 more players that grade out around the same as each other, and some teams will see some of these guys as first rounders, some will be designated as 2nd rounders...so these guys are NOT for certain 1st rounders (but are still quality players)

Right. I get the concept, but if on average only 14-16 meet that grade, it's time to rework the curve.

The average should be 30-32 players have a 1st-round grade, bad drafts have 20, and great drafts have 40. Or else it's not a useful metric.
Wonder why they don't change it? I would assume if there was no use to the way they did it then they'd change it no?

I've asked this question before. The dude gets around the field. He's fast. He runs to ball. But how many times in this game would you say he affects the QB. So for me this goes back to what I keep saying: if Reese is an Edge, then he's behind quite a few of these dudes. Unless you're a big fuckin lover of upside. And I have nothing against upside mind you. But I don't like the extent of projection required with Reese for him to go up top.

Well, above I was educated that they're referring to blue chip grades. I didn't have blue chip grade synonymous with 1st round talent grade.

It still seems like a misnomer to call it 1st round grades, but I get the system, now.

Sounds right, I guess.

Teams have their own draft boards and their list of draftable players often don't even extend through all seven rounds so you're always taking a team's rankings and forcing it into a system (that presents rankings simply by how it functions and not by overall talent/score).

Was going to start this in its own thread, thought it might be worthy but didn't want to clutter the board.

Thread Title: Get The Jets On The Phone And Dont Hang Up Til There’s A Deal.

Post: We MUST exhaust all avenues, make every possible attempt to trade for and select with the 2nd (or 3rd) overall pick RB Jeremiah Love. This guy is an impact player along the lines of recent players Saquon Barkley and Christian McCaffrey (these guys go to Super Bowls) and past players Marshall Faulk and Walter Payton (HOFers). Also, if we got Love, Stafford would play another 3 years probably.

How can we get him: offer the Jets Pick 13, Byron Young (Jets need Edge and were drafting one at 2), the compensation from us dealing Kyren or Corum, and spare change if necessary. Or: Pick 13, and Jared Verse. Young and Verse are both about to get paid and we could do without paying one of 'em. We also have very promising Josiah Stewart ready to step into the void. Plus we would have Love at 4 years and relatively cheap money. Kyren is great, but we need a "HOME-RUN HITTER" like Love at RB. Like I stated, it would add year or years to Stafford's careeer.

Hall of Fame level talent that would probably win us a Super Bowl, Jeremiah Love.

And if we can't acquire him because other teams don't want to lose him themselves, at least I would like to be able to say "at least we tried."

And this is also not to say that we can't win the Super Bowl if we don't acquire him. Would love to hear what everyone thinks.

I repeat, get the New York Jets on the phone and don't hang up.

Looks like someone else besides me had the same idea.....

(Not saying I necessarily agree with the trade package)

I was just going to post this.
Maaann.... Reese is just NOT cut out to be an OLB. Looks kinda like a 3-4 DE to me. Also for comparison: R.Quinn was an elite bend 4-3 DE & Reese looks nothing like him at all.
Bain tho... wow
I wouldn't be shocked if someone took Reese to use more as a 3-4 ilb and moved him around and blitzed him from the middle. He may not have the bend but he has other tools.

Rams traveling to visit one of the top QBs in the 2026 draft

Story by Cameron DaSilva, Rams Wire

The Los Angeles Rams aren’t big on pre-draft visits. They don’t host any prospects at their facility for official visits, and they rarely travel to meet with them, either. But they’re making an exception for one player in the 2026 draft class.

LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier said in an interview with NFL Network on Wednesday night that he has the Rams “coming into town” for a pre-draft visit. He’s also meeting with several other teams, including the Jets and Colts, but it’s interesting that the Rams are hitting the road to meet with the LSU quarterback.

“I’ve got the Jets in the next couple of days, I’ve got the Rams coming into town, I’m heading out to Indianapolis, heading to Gruden this weekend, which I’m excited for. That’s going to be a lot of fun,” Nussmeier said.

Nussmeier is viewed as one of the three best quarterbacks in this year’s class by most draft experts, with some analysts even ranking him second behind Fernando Mendoza. He was a particularly promising prospect after the 2024 season when he threw for 4,052 yards and 29 touchdowns with 12 interceptions for the Tigers.

In 2025, he battled through an abdominal injury suffered last fall, which led to a significant drop in production and a steadily declining draft stock. He threw for only 1,927 yards and 12 touchdowns with five interceptions in nine games, going from 311.7 yards per game to only 214.1.

He’s slightly undersized at 6-foot-2 but he has a strong arm and is mobile enough to escape the pocket and avoid pass rushers to buy time when dropping back. Nussmeier is viewed as a Day 2 prospect who could potentially sneak into Round 1 for a quarterback-needy team.

The Rams pick at No. 13 and 61, so taking him with their first pick would certainly be too early. But if he were to slip to No. 61 overall, it’s conceivable they could take him – especially after traveling to visit with him before the draft.

I HATE this trade. Passionately. Essentially, our entire draft to move up for a RB, which is potentially our best unit currently. Very hard pass. Can easily see why the Jets would be elated with this though

Receiver Malachi Fields did not run the forty, standing on his mark from Indianapolis, but did run the short shuttle in a time of 4.25 seconds, then participated in position drills, looking exceptional catching the ball. Fields is projected to be a Day 2 selection, likely going late in the second round or early in the third. Someone close to him told me, the round one conversation surrounding Fields after the Senior Bowl was nonsense, as was the speculation that he would fall to Day 3 after his Combine performance.

He met extensively with the Los Angeles Rams and New York Jets, a pair of teams that need receivers. If the Rams don’t take a receiver with the 13 pick, Fields would most definitely be in play for them when they are on the clock with the 61st selection, especially with all the rumors about the team potentially moving Davante Adams.

I'm glad to hear it. I was high on Garrett Nussmeier last season and I personally still like him more than Ty Simpson despite the current consensus opinion. I'm leaning towards drafting a quarterback in next year's class, but I wouldn't complain too loudly if McVay & Snead decide to take a flyer on Nussmeier in the third round or later.
