They are giving up a lot no doubt, but who knows what other teams might be offering. The Jets will have to eat alot of dead cap so they would have to feel compensated.I would disagree there. I would only give up one first round pick with a lower pick and a player at most. Think this is an over pay. Besides I wouldn't be that surprised if Daniel Jones implodes. He's done this before where he was balling out with the Giants and then just crapped the bed later on in the season. Mark my words, he's going to repeat that shit.
They have done so well with their drafting. The Jets also have their 2027 Second Round Pick.
So, that's 5 #1s and 3 #2s in the next two drafts.
QBs from that Baylor/Tennessee Art Briles/Josh Heuppel system just never pan out at the next level. A lot of the offensive lineman struggle too.Wow, I expected more out of him in the NFL. Was hoping he'd fall a round later so we could draft him.
Interesting! I would have agreed with you before the season, but now I see it almost completely opposite.Turner. Easily Turner. He's the lynchpin behind our defensive line, is out in every situation, probably our best run-stuffer even including Poona Ford, and he's younger. And it's easier to replace good-to-great edge rushers than it is to replace a dominant defensive lineman, and the class for edge rushers is stupid deep this year. Like, insanely good.
And I guarantee that we'll get at least a little more than a first, especially if Young gets close to the league lead in sacks. I'm just saying that it might be smarter to choose prioritizing our other defensive lynchpins (and Nacua for offense) and let Agent Zero go.
We also still have to sign Landman, and judging by Zach Baun' s deal with the Eagles and accounting that Landman is younger and has been arguably as productive in his free agent year as Baun, we might have to spend sixteen/seventeen-million-per-year for three or four years to sign him.
We might even have to let Lake or McCreary go into free agency; can't guarantee we sign everyone, and Nacua and Turner should be our number one and two priorities for next year.
Hmm...I might actually make a mock offseason.
They draft well,Quinnen Williams, Sauce, Wilson, but it just doesn't matter when you assemble the worst coaching staff EVERY damn year. Like the Cowboys, just can't get out of their own damn way. They have done so well with their drafting.
Rams have signed long snapper Jake McQuaide to the practice squad. Re-signed you might say.
I would have been happy with the Rams trading for him at that price. And I think our defense would destroy teams with that dude eliminating the top wideout of opposing offenses. We'd look like one of those rare defenses with a top corner behind this front. Is Sauce worth two 1st?
Definitely not worth it. Sauce was not a shutdown corner these last 2 years. Good? Yes, but that price was too steep, especially since ATL's pick may be in the top 10.I would have been happy with the Rams trading for him at that price. And I think our defense would destroy teams with that dude eliminating the top wideout of opposing offenses. We'd look like one of those rare defenses with a top corner behind this front.
But I don't know much about him. Whether he's an asswipe or whatever. But the kid can shut it down and with a good DC I'd like our chances to get full return.
I disagree about the Jets drafting well, they have struck out multiple times at QB & LT, in the end those positions are what matters most. They draft well,Quinnen Williams, Sauce, Wilson, but it just doesn't matter when you assemble the worst coaching staff EVERY damn year. Did they really strike out with Darnold, or did their staff fail to develop him?I disagree about the Jets drafting well, they have struck out multiple times at QB & LT, in the end those positions are what matters most.
It took him a while and he wasn’t fixed until Shanahan & O’Connell, so regardless the Jets failed and until they get the QB position right they will continue to be out of the playoff conversation by October.Did they really strike out with Darnold, or did their staff fail to develop him?
