Schefter is mistaken on one: Adonai Mitchell was a second-round pick.

If I'm the Jets, I continue to sell everyone I can for futures and young players on cheap contracts. That includes Breece Hall and Garrett Wilson.

Yes, trade both of them to Los Angeles

Depending on a lot of factors, we might actually be best suited to trade Agent Zero next year and let another team pay for him.

Considering we have to sign Nacua, Turner, and possibly others (including, but not excluded to: Avila, Evans, McCollough, Speights, Allen, McClendon, and Dotson) to extensions in 2026 as well as guys like Landman, Lake, and possibly McCreary after this year, and also considering that Fiske, Verse, and Forbes are eligible in 2028, and even more consideration as to how old Young will be in his free agent year (he will be twenty-nine when he turns free agent), we might actually decide to get a Parsons-like deal for him.

Josaiah Stewart was already drafted to possibly replace him, and the edge class in next year's class is stupid deep and good.

Taking emotion out of the equation what you say is not a bad strategy. But I love his work ethic and chemistry so I'm not too worried about the age issue. I think he'll be productive well into his 30s. We do at least have the ability to stagger some of these contracts so they might be able to make it work. And of course you never know what injuries might hit some players unfortunately.

There will be no Parsons like deal for Young. He's not near the same talent level. But I can see us getting up to a 1st, which is a bit more than the Panthers got for Burns.

If you had to choose between Young and Turner, who do you sign? (Assuming we will absolutely sign Verse to an extension.)

Turner. Easily Turner. He's the lynchpin behind our defensive line, is out in every situation, probably our best run-stuffer even including Poona Ford, and he's younger. And it's easier to replace good-to-great edge rushers than it is to replace a dominant defensive lineman, and the class for edge rushers is stupid deep this year. Like, insanely good.

And I guarantee that we'll get at least a little more than a first, especially if Young gets close to the league lead in sacks. I'm just saying that it might be smarter to choose prioritizing our other defensive lynchpins (and Nacua for offense) and let Agent Zero go.

We also still have to sign Landman, and judging by Zach Baun' s deal with the Eagles and accounting that Landman is younger and has been arguably as productive in his free agent year as Baun, we might have to spend sixteen/seventeen-million-per-year for three or four years to sign him.

We might even have to let Lake or McCreary go into free agency; can't guarantee we sign everyone, and Nacua and Turner should be our number one and two priorities for next year.

Hmm...I might actually make a mock offseason.
