Jeff Fisher Postgame Press Conference - 10/23

.

I choose not to listen to fisher speak because, well, just because. However they showed a snippet on NFL live and man, it reinforced that decision. You wouldn't be asking about Goff if we won? That's what he says after the third loss in a row after his Qb has thrown 8 ints in that span. What did he expect them to ask him? How well the team is playing? I think next time I'll just fast forward through it when I see his face on the screen.

Rams Head Coach Jeff Fisher – Press Conference – October 24, 2016

(On the play of the wide receivers and if they’re playing up to their capabilities)
“We’re getting more production out them, which is good. Brian (Quick) is making plays, Kenny (Britt) is making plays, but when you playing close games, you got to do everything exactly right, and we didn’t do that at the wide receiver position; nor did we do that at the offensive line position, or the running back position, for that matter. You have to deflect, or be realistic from that standpoint, when you’re looking at the quarterback position. Because if an offensive lineman gets beat on the snap, and the quarterback gets hit and he’s hurried on the throw, if the throw is incomplete, it’s not the quarterback’s fault, it’s the offensive lineman’s fault. That’s just an example. We just have to get better as a team.”

The highlighted part for me sums up why Fisher has not been a success as a HC. He wants a ball control time consuming offense that doesn't score a lot of points and leans on really good defense to keep the opponents score down. In other words his entire philosophy revolves around creating close games. Problem is the players he prepares for games don't play mistake free football and do everything exactly right. Far from it.

Non-highlight #1: "The overthrow"

I could understand him pulling up if the ball was supposed to go somewhere else and he was preparing to get in on blocking for that guy. Not an excuse, still dumb. But if he whiffed a block when another guy got the ball we'd all be bitching about that too.

I have a hard time arguing (discussing, taking an opinion, whatever) about these things because everything could go at least two ways and there's no way to be happy. Oh well, at least there's want anything to be happy about anyway.

Non-highlight #2: Keenum's audible

I would have gone for the first down. I was saying it on the TV. Quick versus ARC? On a jump ball in the end zone? Rogers Cromartie is too good for that especially against an average receiver like Quick. Why not fake the fade and short throw it to Quick? He could easily have had the first down. Keenum is just not good under pressure. He saw the blitz was coming and just wanted to get rid of the ball fast, even if it was not the best scenario.
Some obvious shit, huh?

Some Pics I took from LA Home Opener!

Jeff: Nice grass, huh Jared
Jared: yeah,I guess.Not bad.
Jeff: You think this is nice ?You should
try the grass on the other side of that thick white line.
Oh it's much nicer...specially crafted Artisan blend. Great for standing.Good
solid "standing grass" over there Jared.
Like it so much,I do all of my serious standing over there.
Jared:Yea?
Jeff.Yea,you know if want you can stand over there with me and watch a game or sixteen.

LOL....*goes and cries in the corner*

Keenum's interceptions not all his fault ... according to Moss

Defender is standing still- Quick would be running towards with momentum- can you jump higher from a standing position or with a running start? plus he is 6'4- so at worst the play is incomplete IMO- but I think Quick has a shot to shield the defender and outjump him to high point that ball. I think was right play- but Quick didn't understand the audible. Fisher seemed upset at wrs after game- so that tells me Quick missed that read.

STLtoday - Imagining the LA Rams London Introduction

I thought it was pretty funny - and I'm still a fan of this franchise. As long as the Rams are losing - you can expect this kind of snark - not just from STL (although certainly from STL) but also from LA and the national media. The only real way to escape it is to win.
Yeah the LA media is ripping their ass ( mostly Fishers ass) from a few pieces I just read and deservingly so. I can't wait to hear the espn shows today haha

Marvez: Jared Goff's absence becomes more embarrassing with each Rams loss

Sporting News

Alex Marvez

Not yet.

There’s still more miserable offensive football left for the 2016 Los Angeles Rams. Case Keenum isn’t gone as the starting quarterback, and rookie Jared Goff will remain mired on the bench.

So said Ramscoach Jeff Fisher in the aftermath of his team’s third straight loss,a 17-10 stinker against the New York Giants on Sunday at Twickenham Stadium.

NFL SCORES: Live Week 7 updates, stats

Fisher could always change his mind a la New York Jets head coach Todd Bowles, who initially backed Ryan Fitzpatrick before shelving him last week for Geno Smith. Fisher, though, didn’t sound like someone seriously considering a QB change during his postgame news conference.

Fisher proclaimed his support for Keenum despite a four-interception performance and the ongoing struggles in the Rams' passing game. Fisher placed the blame for Sunday’s problems more on self-inflicted mistakes elsewhere.

"We didn’t lose this game because of quarterback play today,"Fisher said. "We lost at some other positions."

That they did.

A Keenum pass that bounced off wide receiver Tavon Austin’s hands was intercepted by safety Landon Collins. Dusting off his skills as a high schoolrunning back to snake from the right side of the field all the way to the left,Collins’ wild return for a 44-yard touchdown tied the score at 10 and gave the Giants the momentum they were sorely lacking early.

The execution of the final offensive play was even more gross, with wide receiver Brian Quick not noticing Keenum’s audible signal at the line of scrimmage. Quick cut his route short as Keenum threw a lob, giving Giants cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie an easy interception in the end zone to seal the win with 42 seconds left.

Along the way, Rodgers-Cromartie notched another interception on a tipped Keenum pass. The Rams again failed to get running back Todd Gurley on track. The 2015 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year gained a modest 57 yards on 15 carries, none of which spanned more than eight yards.

MORE: All-time most painful draft regrets

The offensive line foundered, as well. Left tackle Greg Robinson was especially hideous. He committed four penalties, two of which were declined.

"We’re not doing enough,” said Keenum, who was sacked three times in a 32-for-53, 291-yard passing performance. “Whatever it is, we need to go back, look at film, correct it and keep going."

As the second overall pick in 2014, Robinson is teetering perilously close to bust status. But the main focus remains on the draft’s No. 1 choice from this year and whether the same disappointment awaits.

Other rookies drafted later like Philadelphia’s Carson Wentz, Dallas’ Dak Prescott and Cleveland’s Cody Kessler are already starting whether because of injuries to first-stringers or earning the nod. Goff sits behind a journeyman passer who’s best suited to serve as a competent backup.

Fisher refuses to detail why he won’t play Goff. Whether that’s because the Rams goofed by picking Goff or the coaches deserve blame for failing to quickly developing him —or a combination of both —are questions that become more pertinent each week Keenum starts.

"Jared is going to play when we feel Jared is ready,"Fisher said. "Had we won this game, you wouldn’t be asking about Jared."

Yet the Rams did lose —again —as the likelihood rises of a 12th consecutive season without a playoff appearance.

MORE: Should rookie QBs start or sit?

Los Angeles now has a bye before a Nov. 6 home game against reeling Carolina (1-5). This is theoretically the ideal time to make a quarterback switch in hopes of providing an offensive spark and getting Goff some valuable experience that would suit him well in the future.

The fact Fisher isn’t ready to make that move after Sunday is even worse news for the Rams than losing to an average squad like the Giants.

Giants@Rams Vent Thread

Keenum had more bad plays then Tavon today.. but the pick six was on Tavon. He dropped the ball. Tavon is super fast but he can't catch the ball worth a crap. He is also is so small that it's hard to throw him the ball down the field.. hence why he averages less than 10 yards per catch for his career.
And the 1st TD is on Tavon more than Keenum
TA makes a great adjustment on that ball which was thrown late and behind him

The decline of Colin Kaepernick

Haha the usual building up of the past into more than it was to try to feel better about the awful current state of the Whiners. It is very revealing that in this writer's little media world "everyone" was convinced he was the anointed greatest ever (isn't every Whiner QB according to every writer?). Meanwhile every real football fan I know saw through what was happening at the time for pure Jeremy Lin type of bullshit that wouldn't last, and only lasted for so long thanks to typical Whiner luck. That reckless QB style should have been coughing up 3 or 4 fumbles & INTs per game yet somehow he avoided a pick-6 until like his third year? No, erase those "reasons" and simply list "fluke & dumb luck before crashing to the reality of his true talent".
