Nick Saban retires

I’ll miss him. May not have been the most approachable coach, but I’ll always respect his respect towards other teams.

I can think of two separate times in a blowout loss where he gained my respect: 1), where he left out his defensive tackle who had German suplexed Russell Hansbrough (our then true freshman running back) in for two plays for our offensive linemen to bury him on those two plays before pulling him out and visibly chewing him out on the sidelines; and 2), after the game when Eric Waters, our tight end got pretty badly hurt, one of the first things he said Waters was in his prayers. A blowout win, and the first thing he mentions is an injured player.

Definitely a coach I respect, and one of a dying breed.

Interesting Stats

This has been good year as far as the injury front. The line has been mostly healthy. And now they are developing continuity and chemistry with each other. They are no longer the weak link they were last year and the first half this year. Avila should only get better with the experience he has this year. As much as we talk about Puka, Turner and Young, they hit it out of he park with Avila too.

I'm Confused

that's a great angle to see it clearly.

Yeah it should have been I agree now with that picture - but i can be honest in saying its close enough that i could see how the official might have been unsure or missed it.

I also wonder Is it where the ball is released or where the QB is standing? Though again from that angle it could have cerainly been called.
That's a good question. But even if is based on where the ball is released, I think it is still intentional grounding, but definitely a lot closer.

However, I would like to know who actually held in the secondary if it wasn't Johnson as called by the official. Because Johnson wasn't even remotely close to anyone to have held anyone thru the entire play. Closest he was to a player was 5 yards and in position to jump in front of a couple players if Darnold had thrown to them.
