Sean McVay not giving up on Greg Robinson

I don't see how the Rams can give Robinson a 5'th year option based on his production & CAP hit. Following the initial free agency period, McVay/Kromer will only have a 3 week evaluation window prior to the draft to run GR and the rest of the team thru their paces, that's not a lot of time to make a decision on whether we may have to draft another OT or OG, and that's if they haven't already made somewhat of a 'blind' decision based on film only during free agency. My question is whether they see a potential pro bowl OG in GRob, or whether he can eventually develop into an average or maybe slightly better than average LT. Being he was a known project coming out of Auburn based on their system, and his questionable future potential as a pass protector, are we just going to fill a hole or are we going to do what's best for the player by using him at his best possible position ? If Robinson is to remain at LT, can he absorb enough training to correct his errant ways under Kromer in the limited timeframe of camp while simultaneously learning an entirely new offensive system being introduced by McVay ?

Perhaps you can explain this a little better for me. Saffold has been asked to work multiple positions for our team each season for the last 5 years, whether due to another players health or just filling holes. Saffold has almost always outplayed the players he has filled in for or replaced. He's also consistently been our highest graded offensive lineman on the unit. Yes, he's been a serious injury risk at LT, yet some still want him to start at that position over Robinson, which may make some sense from a production only point of view, although rather risky. For little reward, Saffold has done pretty much everything asked of him. I'm also not sure how many believe we save money getting rid of and replacing him with guys like Zeitler, Leary or Warmack, likely asking near double Saffold's current contract price. There are at least 4 other starters on that line which should go before Saffold.
Also, maybe you can fill me in on how/where Saffold threw Goff/Robinson under the bus, as I don't recall reading about that.

With Saffold - I He & Robinson were going at it.They were not on the same page. I can't recall the exact quote. I do know he basically did not hold himself accountable.
Saffold was horrible at RT !!!
LT he got hurt in New Orleans when Robinson was taken of the game day roster.
The quote about Goff at the end of the season after he said remember this feeling . Saffold was saying like good luck with making the team better. He has never won a thing. He is selfish. He is not a good guy to have around the young O'lineman. That is just my opinion. I believe he will get cut .

Joe Barry on Ogletree

I sure hope so!. Barron's performance would have been far more effective if our RDE (Eugene Sims) had been effective enough to keep those big OL'ers from getting to Barron. Fact is our RDE was MIA in 2016.

Rams want Todd Gurley to improve his pass blocking

What's stopping that from actually making that happen?. All it takes is a little extra effort. It may be extracurricular but who cares. Party is over start hitting the books.

Most likely it's Faulk's schedule that stops it from happening.

I like that they want him to focus on his pass protection, it's important, Jackson saved many a play with his ability to pick up the blitz and pass protect.

Gurley said that he wants the team to be built around Goff, so his ability to help will be big. That'll help spring him for runs or dump off passes to gain a lot of yardage as well.

Kurt Warner... Hall of Fame

Kurt Warner has four former teammates he wants to see in Canton
Posted by Mike Florio on February 14, 2017

Tuesday’s PFT Live included an interview with future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady. Wednesday’s show will have an interview with a brand-new Hall of Fame quarterback.

Kurt Warner, a two-time NFL MVP and Super Bowl XXXIV MVP, was asked among other things to identify one former teammate for whom he’d stand on the table and argue for induction.

“That’s one of those tough questions,” Warner said. “It’s like picking your favorite kid, you know, because I’ve got four guys that I believe all belong in the Hall of Fame when it comes to receivers that I played with: Isaac Bruce, Larry Fitzgerald, Torry Holt, Anquan Boldin.”

Warner then worked through the likelihood of each guy making it.

“I think Larry’s a lock, so I’m not going to get up on the table for him,” Warner said. “The other guys I think should be in. I think Isaac Bruce should be in by this point already. So I would probably bang the table for him right now because he taught me so much about being a pro and those Greatest Show on Turf years were really started by the way he prepared and practiced every day and pulled so many of us along.

“So I believe he belongs in but I also believe he and Torry will get in and so I might bang the table for Anquan Boldin because I think of all those guys he gets the least respect for how great he is. It amazes me, we want to keep looking at measurables and how fast guys are as opposed to just one of the greatest football players I ever played with. Competed more than anybody I ever played against. Wanted the ball in his hands. Was a difference maker. Everybody tries to get rid of him, and he just goes and he’s the number one receiver on that next team.

So I believe he’s the one that gets the least amount of respect. So I would love to get on the table for him as well because I believe when you look at his overall numbers and what he’s done it’s incredible as all those guys are. It’s a tough call but I want to get Isaac in because he belongs in and then I think ‘Q’ does too and so I would try to stand on the table for two guys if I could.”

Of course, it may be hard for any other receivers to get in until Terrell Owens and Randy Moss make it through. In a separate post, I’ll share Warner’s views on Owens.

Wades 3-4 probably not a huge adjustment....

#97? What has Eugene Sims done to earn a special shout out and guaranteed spot on the team?
Our new DL coach Bill Johnson either made a big mistake on the Ram jersey number or he has not watched much film on #97 the last two seasons when Sims has been the primary starting right DE. One thing I do know is Eugene Sims does not deserve a shout out of any kind on the positive side.

Draft trade?

On the other hand, once he hits free agency, we may get nothing for him. Same decision next year that we face with Tru Johnson this year. jmo.
I mean, it isn't nothing, free agents that walk net us comp picks. We got a 3rd round comp for Jenkins, so if Tru walks we probably get the same for him and if Ogletree walks in 2018 we are probably looking at a 4th. So it isn't nothing. Especially now that comps can be traded. Just something to keep in mind.

49ers planning to go hard after Kirk Cousins?

Either way, Cousins will win. All that’s left to be determined is who pays him and how much.

Absolutely, Cousins couldn't have played it out any better. The thing about Cousins that is different in how many other players have reacted to the franchise tag is that he hasn't complained about it one bit, and even applauded the team for wanting him bad enough to do the franchise tag. Now the tag for a QB is higher than most, but it is the complaining while still getting millions guaranteed that makes other players look selfish. I doubt anyone views Cousins as selfish. He's worked hard, improved year to year, been a team player without complaints, says the rights things, and in the end will get a big payday one way or another.

Is he the best player in the league to be getting payed more than say Rodgers? No. Is he even in the top five of QB's in the league? Probably not, at least not right now, but that isn't the way it works in sports. It's a constant surpassing of the last biggest salary. In another five years, after getting paid, he may not even be one of the five highest paid QB's anymore. There are some key positions you just have to solidify, even if paying top dollar to do so, so you can start focusing on other holes, and the Redskins have plenty of them on defense. It would be a shame to start over looking for another franchise type QB when you already have one on the roster.
