Again if Aarion Penton is able to stay away from his marijuana issues, I believe he has the talent to beat out Michael Jordan, now granted Jordan is much bigger CB, but Penton is more of a ball hawk Corner. I really am also interested to see how Jordan responds to the new coaching staff.

Watson starts week one the rest start this year only if there's an injury.

Back that up with a Wade Phillips defense and our own John (Bones) Fassel ST's unit.

I'm feeling pretty good right now as to where we are and where we are going. It's not going to all be instant success right off the bat, but it will be an improved and improving team and by next year, we should be right where we want to be. Contenders. :yay::mrburnsevil:

Don't forget about Mike Thomas. I think that he could possibly get on the field some on offense, and he's the best gunner we have. And I think that Temmarick Hemingway could also surprise.

I really like these players. Listening to them shows the type of player McVayer/Snead are seeking out. And the Type of Players McVay wants on his squad! I like it!!

I did not look at it from that standpoint, but from a different perspective I guess if I was an offensive lineman I would have answered that with..."What I remember about Aaron Donald is that I don't recall him ever getting by me in practice, but he's sure been awesome in the NFL."

Great read on Everett. I am curious why did he think he had game for the NBA? Anyone see him play? I mean, he's only 6'3, I wonder was he all above the rim and dunking? Or was he a shifty shooting guard? Inquiring minds wanna know....

Well basic statistics say that not all these new kids are going to work out. Not to be a Debby Downer or anything. The key for us, what this team really needs, is difference makers anyway though. You can get starters out of a big haul of players for a first-year head coach, but it's the guys who can bring it at a high level that really matter.

So I hope the new defenders get roles as depth guys on this roster. And beyond that, I am keeping an eye on Kupp and Everett, as those are the two guys we need to bring impact (Everett year two primarily of course) to make this draft a success.

I remember one of the first scenes in Hard Knocks was Wienke yelling at Goff, saying something along the lines of, You think you just come in here and get the starting job handed to you? That's not gona happen.

I think it is a great example of how they screwed the pooch when it came to helping there big investment flourish.
Something tells me this staff would have handled it differently.

60 acres right now and trying to wrestle 7 more away from my neighbor Grady Southwell which is taking forever. I would love 100 but prices are out of control now - Like 3x what I paid in 2008 when the economy took a dump. I recently read Dripping Springs is in the top 10 fastest growing cities in America , i think because we are just so close to Austin and are officially Hill Country. So i'm priced out of my own neighborhood now and will have to head farther West for more space. 60 acres is huge, but you'd be surprised how well you get to know it and how much more land you start feinding for just living on larger acreage

I don't think Bulger ever led the NFL in QB rating, much less when Warner was productive for the Rams.

We all come from diverse backgrounds and experiences, and compassion is a good thing. For me, the one essential thing is freedom. I support your right to choose how you live your life, even though I may not have made the same choice. The second part of freedom of choice, is the consequences of that choice, and that can be one hard motherfukker. Some have tendencies toward addiction and others have medical issues. Some have horrible life experiences and relations. I have compassion about many of these conditions and situations, but the hard truth about employment is that the employer isn't a social service agency.

In the NFL, there are about 224 guys coming to take your job every year. There are probably another 1000 undrafted swingingdicks with less talent that want to do the same. Greater talent gives you more chances, which isn't fair, but it is what it is. Talent separates some from the herd. Those of equal talent are separated further by skill, desire, and just plain love to play the game. Injuries separate others from the group. Competition is fierce for the privilege to play a kid's game for millions of dollars (possibly).

The other separator is the ability to follow the rules/law. Shoot yourself in the foot in a state that declares your gun to be illegal, you lose your job (and go to jail). Rules in the NFL about drug use are part of the SHIELD. It's part of the image the NFL wants to portray that the NFL is a cut above. Now in various ways they don't live up to that, but that is the lofty goal.

Josh Gordon is that talented guy that was highly valued by all 32 teams, but by the Browns most of all. He made his choices and suffered the consequences. An employer can personally care about a person's struggles, but after a series of warnings and penalties, he has to move on. Some employers have more leniency than others, especially for the most talented. Yet, even talent, after a while, doesn't matter if the employer can't utilize it, especially with new talent coming every year in waves...

So smoke that dope Josh Gordon and enjoy it..You have many other choices in life coming, and coming hard.

After coming off one of the worst rookie seasons in recent memory, Rams hopeful franchise QB Jared Goff is looking to erase any doubt in himself being the future. He apparently appears to be off to a great start from the way the coaches have talked about him.

The Rams brought in Matt LaFleur from the Atlanta Falcons to be the offensive coordinator and he didn't hesitate to absolutely gush about his new QB.

"Goff's been awesome man. He wants to be great. He's done everything we've asked of him. He's coming in early. He's staying late."

Just want you want to hear early on in camp. Goff appears to be doing the dirty work and it's looking like it could pay off down the road, but for starters he's leaving a great impression with the new regime. LaFleur, of course, was the QB coach in Atlanta and dealt with last year's MVP Matt Ryan. This isn't just about Goff's offensive coordinator though.

Steve Wyche of NFL.com reported that coaches believed that Goff had "exceeded expectations." Wyche also went on to talk about how Goff in his first year had noticeable struggles within the language of an NFL playbook and especially had a hard time reading NFL defenses and adjusting at the line of scrimmage. That however appears to be way in the past as he reported that the Rams coaches said "Goff is right on point."

All of what Wyche was referring to came from veteran mini-camp which was held before the draft. While all that is great, Goff wan't done making all the right moves and doing all the right things. Rookie mini-camp started yesterday which excludes veterans, making it non-mandatory to attend. Many veterans use that time during rookie mini-camp as a time to quickly relax again and almost like a quick vacation before OTAs. However, Goff was at rookie mini-camp watching his future teammates and supporting them. Regardless of who says what, Goff showed a tremendous leadership trait in being there to support his rookie teammates. He didn't have to attend and maybe to some this isn't a big deal, but the Rams' third-round pick Cooper Kupp would seem to disagree.
It's not about how you start, but how you finish. Goff started off his career 0-7 and not a lot to show for being the No.1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. However, he's starting to make significant strides towards improvement. The coaches seem to love him and so do the players. Goff is receiving praise and is earning the respect of his teammates. Now, in his second season there is no Case Keenum or Sean Mannion to compete with him. This is Jared Goff's job and it's time for him to take what he did at Cal and transfer it over to the NFL gridiron.
