McVay Day 1 Camp Presser & Wade interview

I think you saw that in the last press conference of the season last year. What is there to be mad about now?

I realize he is very young.... It always feels like he is reading from a cheat sheet....giving answers that were prepared....I guess I wonder how many field generals have his disposition....anyway, hoping he turns it on!

Turf Show Times:Trumaine Johnson Ready to Move on from Rams

Wow, I'm happy for the guy honestly. Sucks we can't get a deal worked out, but please folks, perspective. His body has already taken plenty of abuse for this franchise. He's supposed to offer them a long term discount on top of it?

In his time, we've seen the Rams cut ties on Long, JL55, Finnegan, Jenkins and McLeod (amongst others) under the guise of fixing the cap and improving the team. Well, we cleared a helluva lot of cap, where's the beef?

I find no fault in Tru's words or actions here. Clearly he wants (wanted?) to stay in the horns. Rumor was he turned down a trade to NOLA because he thought he could get a deal here. Hindsight, as always, is 20/20.

LA Rams 2017 "Offensive Personnel"

I might have too high of expectations for last years raw TE Mr. Hemingway. He keeps showing up on my sleeper radar as being a contributor this year but he's also a boom/bust type so I could easily be way off.
I hope he has a strong camp. The youth of this TE group may be a disadvantage for a guy like Hemingway. He makes more sense playing behind a proven veteran on a team that has the luxury of waiting for him to develop. I've always liked a mix of youth and proven talent in any group. Player / Coaches can shorten the learning curve on the young guys.

I would like to keep him if at all possible.

Again, great stuff as always Florida

Tre Mason breaks silence, trashes Rams

That's my point
You have no idea any of Fisher's picks were all about athleticism either

And i'm trying to make the point no team values athleticism over IQ but instead i think it's a constantly varying mix of both

Fisher and Snead have been very consistently obvious with the majority of their draft picks over the years. You can disagree but I haven't met anyone until now that thinks otherwise. He swung big on some athletic freaks with serious risks, both concerning development and or character. It's been their m.o. Most years you could predict exactly who they would take in the top two rounds, sometimes three. Freak athletes with red flags were the pick rumour every year because they ignored the red flags to get the value on pick. ' If this guy didn't have 40 kids to 40 women he would be a top ten, or if this guy didn't beat up a teammate he would be top fifteen, or this guy may not know how to pass block but we don't need to protect the QB when all we do is run. ' Its slanted thinking, for a game plan. At some point they needed to say why can't we find good team players, or guys that can learn their position. It is a hit or miss strategy. Not surprising because that is Fisher's style.

I really don't want to keep going round and round on this one. It's drug on. You disagree, I get it.

Alec Ogletree confident a new deal is forthcoming

Asking for an injury IMO...

We shall see....but I've seen Shaq leave town....I've seen Eric Dickerson leave..Anyone can become disgusted with contract dealings and simply not feel appreciated. This could definitely end poorly.
That's true. I'm optimistic that this holdout will not be extensive and that AD will be training on his own.

The QB gap: How one camp is taking on quarterbacks' struggle to transition to NFL

Hey, let me know where I said Weinke made the Rams staff qualified. And let me know when the Eagles and Wentz do something relevant, too.
Well... I said this
The issue with this was he didn't have the coaches in place to teach a QB nor the offense for any QB to succeed.

To which you said this

Ben Albright points out that Weinke was the most sought after QB guru available....

I say they're were unqualified to teach a rookie QB. You cited our rookie QB coach. As for my Eagles comment I was pointing out the difference in coaching available to a rookie QB. Their rookie QB started out much better than ours did. Imagine if we'd actually put an effort into coaching our rookie QB.

Trumaine Johnson will play out this season under the franchise tag

I don't see any team offering Johnson top money with 3 years guaranteed after the 2017 season unless he plays ProBowl level football. 3 year guarantees are normally for players entering their 5th or 6th year...and QBs. I could see him getting a 4 year deal for $13M, $14M, $15.2m, and 16.5M, (maybe more), but I think he'll struggle to get more than the 1st 2 years fully guaranteed.

What would an Alec Ogletree contract extension look like for the Rams?

That's why I think the market value deal is such a bargain!

Thinking more about the Barron's deal I forgot he was over paid. It should have been 7 to 7.5 Million per year. It does create a conception that Tree should make more than Barron but, the Rams have to make adjustments now and stop over paying. 44,533,544 Sounds good.

With Wade's history of developing late round guys into quality inside linebackers. I think we'll see him sign a respectable but team friendly contract - or we'll see him hit free agency.

That's the quandary. Can Wade and the Rams take a risk and let Tree go? They are just establishing the new defense and next year they should be ready to make a playoff run. I would hope a respectable deal can be made. I don't know about how team friendly players go theses days but, Tree could be reasonable.

Snead and McVay to hold 5pm PST presser to discuss AD

https://overthecap.com/salary-cap-space

If I read this close to being right It indicates the Rams have less than $3,865,923 available in cap funds lowest in the NFL. With the top rated teams 9ers, Browns & Titans who enjoy the benefits (cap wise) having made trades for mega draft picks with provides cost dividends in cap matters..

So is there any $$$ avail for AD this season? No thus all must come from future Ram yearly caps. Rams will be in much better shape in the near future Cap wise. Not so Funny how the new NFL dynasty Patriots are right in the middle of the NFL pack. Is AD demanding immediate present day pay increase ? If so would not a trade be the only resolve?
